Mission: Planet of the Dinosaurs
Location: Crew Camp
Timeline: Morning Day 2

As the Shuttle rose and headed back towards the Sunfire the Captain returned to the camp, casting a critical eye around the goings on. Savar had a group of security staff around him, discussing the events of the morning and how they were going to beef up security after the death of Liveless, Dr Wilson had returned to her medical tent to conduct and autopsy once she had seen to all those that had woken up with bug bites and headaches this morning, and there were groups of people skirting the designated boundaries of the camp scavenging for food.

Aurora was cuddled up next to Sidak in their tent, with her son sleeping it was the perfect time to try and nap, but knowing there were so many dangers all around made her feel worried for Sidak’s safety. She gently cuddled closer making sure he was protected while she slept. Hopefully she’d feel much better soon.

Savar had finished his discussion with the security personnel, stressing what he wanted and what he expected of them from roaming patrols of two, to high level sentries overlooking the camp from both east to west and north and south. Along with an at ready security detail to respond at a moment's notice to any breech in the camp's defenses. He was about to make his report to Rhenora but stopped by his tent to check on Aurora. Sticking his head in, he saw her lying with Sidak. He was about to speak but did not wish to wake her.

Aurora was sleeping light, she heard movement and lifted her head ignoring the headache that seemed to have set in, offering a smile as she saw Savar. “Hey, is everything alright?”

Savar nodded, "Fine. I just finished discussing security details with the security personnel. How are you feeling?"

“I’m okay, not feeling quite so bad since Sarah gave me that hypo, just a headache now.” She massaged her temples.

Savar processed what Aurora said. It seems as if most of the crew are complaining of headaches," He noted. "Most unusual. He looked to Sidak, how is Sidak?"

“He’s sleeping right now, I just hope he doesn’t get sick too.” Aurora gave her son a worried look. “Let’s go see Sarah, I need something for this headache anyway.”

The mood at the camp was tense as the Captain headed for the campfire, someone had cooked up some rations and edible roots found nearby to form a nutritious slop that resembled porridge but taste anything but pleasant. She forced it down, reminding those that had pushed their portions aside that everyone needed to keep their strength up. She headed for the medical tent to see Sarah after finishing her meal and found the CMO elbow deep in headache complaints.

"Busy morning?" The Captain quipped with a healthy dose of sarcasm as she entered and folded to sit on her haunches. There were no chairs, just a few mats on the floor and medical supplies stacked neatly along the edges of the tent.

"Bug bites and headaches, they seem to be related" Wilson replied with a wry smile.

Aurora walked into the tent escorted by Savar, who was carrying Sidak for her. “I’d agree with that, my head is pounding.”

"Most of the crew are complaining of headaches Rhen er Captain." Savar stated and continued. "When you have a moment I would like to talk to you about the new security procedures that have gone into affect."

Sarah looked up as Aurora and Savar also entered, hypospray at the ready "Those that have more bug bites appear to have the worst headaches" she explained as she approached Aurora with a hypo "Until I get time to analyse what kind of toxin is in the bites we need to cover up and avoid being bitten in the first place"

"I agree, Dean and Patin are heading back to the ship to rustle up more medical supplies, some insect repellant and better shelters" Rhenora explained as she swatted the tricorder away. "Now Commander, the security changes?" She asked, diverting the attention.

Savar bristled slightly at Rhenora's use of his rank, She was perfectly correct in using it but he would have expected her to be more informal. Nonetheless he moved past and began his report. "Sentries have been in all four corners of the camp at higher elevation to see any potential threats quicker. Roaming patrols of two security personnel will sweep the camp. At standing security detail of eight officers will stand ready to react to any threat at a moment's notice."

"Good work, from what Patin tells me there will be more creatures coming, possibly larger ones" Rhenora mused as she looked around the med tent. Sarah was busy tending to bites and headaches and the occasional bump and bruise. "With the security taken care of our concern now turns to food and drinking water. What are your thoughts?"

Savar nodded his head slightly at Rhenora's statement. "I would like to have Patin assigned to work with the security personnel here. here insights into how to protect the camp and crew are both insightful and helpful." He paused as he considered Rhenora's question about food and drinking water.

"Our supplies will not last long. They may need to be rationed until we are able to provide food and water on a consistent basis. All scourging teams should be accompanied by two security officers. Same with those going to collect water. I do see a option for not having to go to the stream.

We cut a channel with a phaser to siphon some water from the stream and into a collecting pool here in the camp. Which would eliminate trips to the stream. We can make a floodgate at the head of the channel to control the amount of water into the pool. To keep it from overflowing." He finished.

"I'm not sure about using phasers to cut a stream for water is a good idea when there's dinosaurs around. We should be conserving our weapons. The only other way would be to dig it out by hand. Laborious, but we have the man power to do it" Rhenora mused as she saw the river in the distance. It would be hard going, but definitely possible.

"I'll see if I can get in touch with Commander House and Patin before they leave the Sunfire to return here to see if there's anything else of use they could bring., Then yes, she could start working with the security personnel." The Captain continued.

"A phaser even at low power would be quicker than digging however you do have a point." Savar conceded. "Thank you for assigning Patin to security. She will be a valuable asset with her insights and experience."

"Let's see if they find anything they can bring back to assist? Hopefully more than a few shovels" Rhenora tried to lighten the mood. "In the meantime, the security precautions should be adequate, lets hope no more large carnivores want an easy dinner."

Savar nodded his head in acceptance of her statement. "Thank you for assigning Patin to security as well as your approval of the new security precautions. As for the trough being dug from the river. I agree, let us see what is brought back from the ship."

"I'll let you know what Commander House and Patin find when I contact them" Rhenora replied as she turned her attention back to helping Sarah.

Remal was finishing the morning meal service, vowing first and foremost to find better food to serve. The camp was in a constant state of fluctuation, and the tension in the air was palpable. This was a perfect nightmare scenario for a counselor. One he was sure would create trauma for months to come. While he wanted to focus on one articular individual besides himself, he understood the good of the many came first. This was a group effort and for the most part the group was functioning well.

Across the way, still holdup in her secluded tent, S'thenosis was not herself. She could feel the heat within her, an ancient trait welling up from within. It was something that at her age should not have even been a reality. Not impossible, but not plausible. At first she struggled with the feeling, her heart thumping as she attempted to deny the reality.

Standing, she began pacing inside of her tent growing more and more frustrated by the minute. She was muttering to herself though loud enough that she gained the attention of one of her security escorts. "Ma'am, are you okay? Do you need anything?"

She stopped pacing, clenched her jaws and then responded, "I believe, I need, the doctor." She responded while emphasizing her words.

"Yes ma'am, she's been rather busy this morning, but I'll see what I can do."

Rhenora was still giving Sarah a hand when the escort popped his head in. "Crewman Aredshirt, what can I do for you" she asked.

"Ahh it's the Commodore, she seems out of sorts this morning. She's asking for the Doctor" the escort stammered.

"Want me to see whats troubling her" Rhenora offered, grabbing one of the medical tricorders against the side of the tent.

"Sure, run the first three scans on the menu and I can work with that" Sarah replied as she continued working on her patient.
