Savar moved towards his station but first stopped and looked at Aurora. "My wife, you and the baby are unharmed? To the casual listener, Savar's voice sounded as cool as ever but Aurora would be able to pick up on his concern for her and their baby.

Aurora nodded as she took a deep relaxing breath. “We’re fine now Savar, thank you.” Right now she wanted a hug but on duty wasn’t the time. She sent Savar a mental hug as she made her way back to her seat.

"Savar, take a team to Engineering and advise when it's secure" Jennifer ordered as she retook the centre seat.

"The whales are..ah...hailing us Ma'am" Ops reported from behind her.

"On screen" The bulk of the whales remained on the screen, she hadn't really expected the image to change nonetheless.

"You are undamaged?" The Matriarch asked through the elaborate translation system.

"Mostly, we should move beyond Borg space as soon as you are able. I fear they will track us" Baldric replied sagely.

"We will require one more feast within this region before we may move beyond it. I will request the others hasten the process as much as possible" The matriarch finished and the channel closed.

The large beings began to close around the Sunfire again, as they prepared to move off.

"Stay with them Jenna" Baldric called, although, without a report from Engineering, she had no idea if the comm system was down or if that entire department had been decimated.

"Aye, resuming course," Jenna responded as she aligned the Sunfire back into the center of the whale pod.

Hearing Aurora say she was fine as the baby and then receiving the mental hug from Aurora made Savar pause as he and looked at her. "I am most relieved to hear that Aurora. Most relieved." he then nodded to Baldric, "Aye Commander." Savar replied as he pointed to several security officers, "With me." He told them as they entered the lift to proceed to Engineering.

With the Marine teams now reporting that the ship was clear, Jennifer allowed herself to relax just that tiny bit. " Sickbay, I'm sure you're a little busy but the Marines have asked for assistance, and we could use someone up here when you are able"

The sounds of people in pain could be heard as Dr Wilson responded. " Yep, we're a bit busy. I'll get someone there as soon as I can" the channel was closed but Jennifer notes the absence of the fatality declaration. Had they been that lucky?

Engineering

Arriving at Engineering, Savar and the security detachment cautiously entered main engineering. There were fallen Borg everywhere, draped over and under conduits. close to the warp core and other critical and sensitive engineering. "Secure engineering, help with the injured." He ordered as his eyes swept the area for Lt. Commander Kla'ren.

As the engineers looked after the core and other engineering equipment; the security detail swept the area making certain it was clear of the Borg infestation, and beaming the wounded and injured to Sickbay, and still no sign of Commander Kla'ren.

The whales moved off, taking the Sunfire along with them, with only one stop to go Jennifer was hedging her bets the Borg would try again if they had to stop within near proximity to their territory.

As the adrenaline wore off, the crew began to process their experience, most had never seen the Borg in person before, and that included Baldric. All the training simulations in the world couldn't prepare anyone properly for the experience. She turned to Aurora "You may be a bit busy in the coming days."

"You can count me in with that group." Bonnie said while raising her hand to show her inclusion. She had only ever heard stories and read reports, including but not limited to the report on her Mum's death. Grieving period long since past, she couldn't help but feel guilt over the fact she had lived while her mother had not.

Time passed as the crew found their equilibrium. Injuries were treated, starting with the most severe. Sarah arrived on the bridge about an hour after they had resumed course and treated the physical injuries there. Including Baldric's shoulder. It would need additional treatment over the coming days to reduce the scarring and gain full range of motion back but it would hold for now. One by one systems began to move from red markers back to orange and then green as the crew worked tirelessly to repair them.

"Bonnie, using the current time and distance between feeding stops, are you able to plot where you think our last stop will be? Will it be beyond Borg space?" She asked.

She understood how vast they knew Borg space to be yet still responded, "One moment Commander." She started calculating their trajectory and the now-known feeding schedule of the Whales into her numbers. Given their location was now closer to known space she was confident she could provide an answer the Commander would be happy with.

Seconds later the computer spit out the likely coordinates. She took in the information and turned to deliver the results, "There is a nebula at the furthest edge of Borg space, Grid 986. Voyager's last reported path indicated they were heading towards that same location. Current speed puts us there in 12 hours."

"Damm" Baldric whispered to herself, hoping they would be beyond the clutches if the Borg for their last stop. "Alright then, so we make essential repairs, and everyone gets a good night's sleep before we roll the dice one last time"

Grid 986, according to Memory Alpha was a massive Borg trans-warp conduit hub Voyager was about to use to get home. Was it possible the Sunfire had a hand in helping Voyager get home?
