Disaster! Part 2

Posted on Sun Oct 9th, 2022 @ 8:38pm by Lieutenant Sarah Wilson & Commander Savar cha'Salik hei-Surak Talek-sen-deen & Commander Dean House & Lieutenant Commander Sandra "Phantom" Risa & Lieutenant Commander Thriss Kla'ren & Lieutenant Chester "Duo" Maxwell & Lieutenant JG Blake Leone & Lieutenant Commander Aurora Vali & Ensign Kitiuas Thenis

Mission: Planet of the Dinosaurs
Location: various
Timeline: after the crash

Sickbay

Aurora was slowly making her way towards Sickbay, deciding it best to try and find shelter for those from the nursery/school. She breathed a huge sigh of relief as she heard Savar’s voice crackle across her comm badge. She reached her free hand up to tap her badge as she arrived outside Sickbay “Aurora here, I’m okay! I’m outside Sickbay with the Children and staff from the nursery & school.”

Savar was relieved to hear Aurora's voice, "Stay at your location Aurora, help the injured." Savar replied.

Walking into Sickbay Aurora looked around at the mess the crash had caused, her head wound was still bleeding, and it needed tending.

Sarah was swamped with casualties, more arriving by the minute as people came to after the crash. The EMH flickered uncertainly, occasionally vanishing completely before reappearing a few moments later. Those medical staff who were able were trying to triage and treat where and who they could. She saw Aurora come in and took a quick tricorder reading, a hypo and a minute with the dermal regenerator enough to close the wound but not enough to heal it fully. They needed to conserve their supplies. " We could use a hand, if you're able" The CMO requested.

Aurora nodded as she cuddled her son. “I can help, let me just find somewhere safe to put Sidak down.” She offered Sarah a smile before heading across to the nearest nurse’s room, clearing some space she gently placed Sidak down. At least he’d be safe there while she worked.

Bridge

He tried again, "Bridge to Engineering" and waited for a reply.

Main Engineering was in shambles. Several members of the crew and Kla'ren's staff had been either severely injured or thrown unconscious, potentially worse. Consoles were smoking, lights were flickering, and wires were hanging from the ceiling and sparking. Everything was going so smoothly. Until it wasn't. The Chief Engineer was laying face first on the ground unconscious. He had some substantial injuries that he couldn't figure out until he would awake. Because he was unconscious, he hadn't heard Savar's call at first.

Savar waited for replies to his hails as his eyes adjusted to the dim light. He didn't see Bonnie on the bridge, so tapping his combadge once again he attempted to reach her, "Savar to Lt. Durnell." As he again waited for a reply.

Holodeck 2

Bonnie groaned as she rolled over. Her whole body ached, both from the explosive blast, but also from the subsequent events that followed. She was confident that the explosion was not powerful to have knocked out power all over the ship. Her badge crackled and on the other end was the Commander. She tapped her end, thankful for backup power which she knew wouldn't last long. "Durnell here Commander. I'm in Holodeck 2. There was an explosion in the arch area. I can barely see, but I'm confident we have injured and dead down here Commander."

Slowly she sat up and looked around, Patin was on her left. In the dim light, Bonnie could make out Patin with her hands on her face. Patin sniffled like she was trying to hide something, or force her emotions back in check, then she dropped her hands and chuckled almost morbidly. "Hot damn what a rush." She looked at Bonnie. "That kind of stuff happen around here often?"

Bonnie shook her head no, then turned her attention back to the Commander. "Commander I'm not certain we can get out of the holodeck without help. Maybe through a Jeffries hatch or something?" There was guilt filling her voice, but at least the pain was subsiding, as long as she didn't move.

Patin offered, "I'll go, just point the way." She stood, almost as if she were made of rubber and was on the rebound.

"Sir, Patin is going to try and find a way out. I'm going to stay and help the wounded. And sir, may I ask, did we crash?"

Savar replied simply, "I will await Patin's arrival and in response to your question, Indeed we have Lieutenant, and we are currently assessing the extent of the damage."

"Understood, Bonnie out," she finished with another tap of her badge. In the darkness, she peered around for the Jeffries hatch. It was a small access panel just near the back of the room. She motioned to Patin who seemed to be enjoying this change of pace. "Through here, take a right at the first junction, then exit at the third. It's straight up from there. If you have to manually override the hatches, small access panel right side, three pumps of the lever, then press the release valve. Easy right? You got all of that?"

To which Patin nodded. "Details, who needs em' right?" Together they pulled the hatch and then Patin looked Bonnie in the eyes, "Good luck kid. I'll try and come back for you when I can." She didn't wait for a response before diving head-first into the dark hole of the J-Tube system.

Bridge

Looking around the bridge, Savar tried to locate Lt Maxwell, but the dim light was not helping in his search. Duo began picking himself up. He knew from long experience that if he stayed down, he would slip back into unconsciousness. With an incredible effort he managed to pull himself up into his seat and looked at the LCARS display. It was flickering dimly, on and off. The transparent display was shattered. He remembered his head flying forward on impact and smashing it with his face. He slammed his fist into the display and it stabilized. Though shattered, the terminal was still functional, (A testament to Starfleet Engineering.) he thought to himself. Damage reports were coming in and he needed to get the information out to the command staff so that they knew what commands to order.

With great effort he began calling out, though to whom he wasn't exactly sure.

"Damage reported on all decks." He paused and took a deep breath. Talking hurt...just breathing hurt.

"Casualties reported on all decks...fires reported on...most decks." He knew it wasn't proper protocol, but it was the best he could do with a busted face and a busted terminal display.

"Main power, offline. Auxiliary power, offline. Battery backups at 63% and failing. Life Support failure in approximately 4 hours if we can't get at least Auxiliary power restored. Serious structural damage reported on decks 19 through 22."

"Mr. Maxwell, have the repair teams concentrate on restoring power at least auxiliary with emphasis on life support." Savar told the security chief.

Engineering

Risa slowly moved each part of her body looking for broken bones. She hurt and was full of blood. Lifting her head she saw Engineering in shambles. Bodies everywhere, some bloody and trying to get up, others not moving. Sparks flying all over, bulkheads laying on top of people, debris all over. What the hell hit us was the first thing that went through her head. Filtering through to her mind she felt panic and pain, terror, but not from her but all over the ship. People were hurt and scared and she needed to take stock from her post. It was a miracle that where she landed, she was partially spared but she was cut and was bleeding and needed medical attention. Tapping her combadge, praying it worked, "Engineering to Bridge, Lt. Cmdr. Risa here, the chief is unconscious and we are a disaster here. I got bodies, blood, bulkheads, and debris everywhere. We need medical attention fast if possible. What the hell hit us?"

"Savar here Commander. Understand your situation however you are not alone in seeking medical help the bridge is also a disaster as I am sure are other parts of the ship. I will inform Sickbay of your situation. In the meantime, can you restore at least partial power for lights to help in our search for the injured or dead? Also, it should be noted it is not what it is but rather what we hit. We appear to have crash landed other details remain scarce."

Crashed? Sandra thought. " Savar we Crashed? Oh god, what about my pilots and fighters? Never mind they were not on the flight deck. The captain? Is she ok? I can try to get minimal power for lighting. No guarantees though," she said pulling herself out of her protected spot only to have it give way and come crashing down. Getting up unsteadily, she stumbled over bodies and debris to probably the only console that wasn't showering sparks. Tapping controls and moving isolinear chips that were not damaged, then giving the console a good swift kick, the lights finally dimly came on to an erie glow. "Risa to Savar, you got some light but it won't last long. Do what needs to be done quickly," Sandra said seeing the chief finally. Walking to him, she checked him out and managed to get him on a piece of material and began to drag him to sickbay if she could.
