I do believe it is Independence Day for my Northern living crew. I hope the day was filled with family and friends.

I also happens to be the 24th anniversary of this fleet forming. Yes we've been around THAT long, there are a handful of us who have been around since those early days.

The tower lay a crumbling ruin before them - joint pieces of stone buried and scattered still waiting to be unearthed. Rhenora couldn't wrap her head around the fact that they were somehow going to rebuild the crumbling city, much less turn it into the glowing jewel of Bajor.

The forest was still; the stars were now visible now the storm had cleared. Faro moved quietly, making her way to the compound she and Brin had built before the Reckoning. She was physically wounded, as was the being within her. They both needed time to heal, to regroup, and consider their next move. Her eyes flashed dull red as the being writhed in pain, slowly recovering its strength but feeling everything in the moment. The crimson light descended. Patin and Marie followed.

Below them, the mountains of Bajor's Kendra Province rose from the darkness like ancient teeth, their peaks catching the faint light of the strange red presence as it descended toward the Fire Caves. The closer they came, the brighter the crimson aura became, until the mountains themselves seemed to glow from within.

The Wraith did not slow; instead it passed through the upper atmosphere without resistance, plunging toward the mountains with the certainty of something returning to a place it had known long before either woman had existed.

Remal woke before the station had fully settled into its morning rhythm. For a moment he remained still, listening to the quiet breathing of his family. Rhenora was asleep beside him, and beyond the adjoining door Patina remained blissfully unaware that the day had already begun. The distinction between days has already begun to erode, replaced by duty rotations, alert tones, and the constant vibration of the engines through the deckplates. This is a familiar phenomenon. At 1427 hours, Deep Space Nine signaled priority contact. Colonel Kira Nerys appeared on main viewer. Her report was short and to the point: the replacement control satellite had passed all station-level diagnostics and was ready for handover. Requested Sunfire to retrieve, position, and complete final activation protocols. Authorization codes transmitted and verified.

The transfer to the USS Sunfire is still pending. The ship hasn't arrived at Deep Space 9 yet, and so I am left to wait. I've been spending my time in my quarters, staring out the window at the endless parade of vessels docked at the station's ring.
