Mission:
Masimal
Location: Orbit over Masimal
Timeline: Current
On:
Sickbay
Michael started to slowly open his eyes with blurred vision, lying on a bio-bed. He struggled to sit up, pushing both hands on the sides of the bed. Suddenly, he could hear the soft voice of one of the nurses call," Doctor, Lieutenant Stevens is awake."
Michael asked," What the hell hit me?" glancing around the room as he realized where he was, as he wondered how the Commander was and she was ok.
"Type 14 shuttle", Baldric replied from the biobed next to Michael's, the bruise on her forehead still present. "You want me to get the doc?"
Doctor Thalek approached from the far side of Sickbay, tricorder in hand. He stopped at the foot of the bed, antennae angled forward in focus, as he held the tricorder out to run a series of quick scans.
“Welcome back, Lieutenant,” he said, responding to Stevens' question before it could fully settle. “No lasting damage to either of you, thankfully, but just barely. You're both quite lucky to be in one piece.”
He gave the tricorder one final pass and lowered it, expression unreadable but attentive. “Vitals are within acceptable parameters. You’re not going anywhere yet, but you're awake and coherent—that's a good start.”
"When can I leave, Doc?" asked Michael as he wanted to return to duty and his quarters.
"Soon enough, Mister Stevens. I am keenly aware no one enjoys spending their time in here, and I'll have you on your way soon enough." He glanced briefly to Baldric’s biobed. “Commander, you should be resting.”
Suitably chastised Baldric blushed and settled herself back down on the biobed. She couldn't help but notice Dr Wilson still on the main biobed, safetly enclosed within the medical arch. "Will Doc Wilson be okay?" She asked quietly, concern colouring her words with emotion.
Thalek didn’t immediately respond. He followed Baldric’s gaze toward the central biobed, where Doctor Wilson remained under the soft glow of the diagnostic arch. The monitors pulsed in slow, steady rhythm—stable, but still cautious.
“She’s holding steady,” he said at last, voice quiet but clear. “No further decline since the intervention. Her neural activity is consistent, and the immune response is beginning to normalize. It’s too early to make promises, but the worst seems to have passed.”
His antennae shifted slightly, an almost imperceptible gesture that, for Thalek, bordered on reassurance. He looked back at Baldric, then at Stevens, his tone firm again. “You both should rest. Neither of you are doing her any favors by pushing beyond what your own recovery allows. Give me a few more hours of your time, let's see you hold down some liquid, and I'll release you both.”
"Thanks Doc, for everything" Baldric smiled, reclining against the b iobed so she was comfortable. Now...she was bored.
Bridge
Meanwhile, on the bridge, Captain Kaylen Rhenora looked up as a ship appeared on long range sensors. The cavalry was coming and would arrive within the next 4 hours. "Captain, the Cayuga B is hailing us"
"On screen" Rhenora replied, tucking her blonde hair behind her ear and rising to address her fellow Captain.
The viewscreen changed to the interior of a modern bridge, revealing a polished bridge crew with a striking woman seated in the centre.
"Captain, the Cayuga, the Nightingale and the Curie will arrive in the next 4 hours. What is your current situation there?" The woman asked with authority.
"Captain, we have developed an antidote to the pathogen devouring the planet, and have distributed it via high level jet streams. If our numbers are correct we should see a mass curing event within the next 48 hours. Until then, the situation will need to be managed. I'm sending you our data for your reference." Rhenora replied with a nod to her Ops officer.
"Very good Captain. We'll see you soon" the image of the bridge vanished and was replaced by the planet they were orbiting.
4 hours, and this would all be over.
It was all fine and dandy...sort of at this point. At least Dean figured out how he could walk around and not actually be holding the shield at this point. On his back with a magnetic harness. Having stayed on standby at his station, watching over an Ensign doing his job. He looked to the Turbolift after the call was done to see Kit come in. Giving her a light nod.
Kit walked on the bridge and over to the science station, nodding back at Commander Dean. She quickly brought the station into her configuration and began running sensor scans. Everything appeared to be going well. She smiled and stretched. She was exhausted, her breast hurt as she needed to express milk. She wondered briefly if Kasso was right in her returning back to active status, then smiled, no this was home for her and Astraea, Kasso also should she desire to stay, more so than being with her mother and step-father. She resumed her scans, she would excuse herself in 4 hours and feed Astraea and express the rest of the milk after Astraea had gotten her fill.
Gamma shift arrived on the bridge, each officer heading for their respective station for handover. Rhenora remained in the centre seat, waiting for the Cayuga and the rest of the cavalry. Once they were arrived and briefed, she would take some much-needed rest of her own.
"If you'll excuse me," now that Gamma shift was there. Dean signed out of his station and headed to the Turbolift. Calling for Sickbay. Once he stepped through the door he looked for Jennifer. "I thought I was the pretty one," said as he stopped next to the bio-bed she was on.
"Say what?" She turned at the sound of his voice, reaching out a hand to his. "Hey, missed you" she said simply.
Sickbay
Jenna had delivered her quip to the doctor about the shuttle, just before being put under. Or was it that she fell asleep on the biobed? She had only suffered some minor scrapes and cuts, and minor swelling around her eye. She knew, all she really needed was some rest and time to heal and she would be all shiny and new again. One of the blessings of her genetics, something she tried hard not to think about often. To everyone who needed to know, they would know, to the rest she was normal as normal can be.
Sleep welcomed her like an old friend, warm, safe, comforting. And no snoring from Baldric would rouse her from her recovery slumber.
Officer's Deck
Bonnie had not even made it out of her clothes, at least not completely. The doors parted, she kicked off one shoe, and tried to slip the other off. At the same time, she was trying to remove her jacket layer. This resulted in a stumble, and then a fall face first onto her bed. The softness of the mattress was inviting enough that she did not fight it. And that was how she fell asleep, arms trapped at her sides, legs dangling off the side of the bed, one boot on, one boot off. The day was done and she was going to sleep no matter the cost.
Captain's Suite
He had just finished feeding, burping, and changing Patina's nappy. Normally, she would have been content and fallen asleep in his arms, but there had been a figure missing from their quarters for almost two days and both occupants were feeling the absence. He had heard through the grapevine that the mission was over, or would be shortly.
Even as he tapped his badge, Patina began to fuss louder, smart little thing. "Remal to Bridge, if you are done with the Captain's services, I feel it would be advisable to have her visit her rest chamber. I don't want to issue orders." He added even though they both knew he would if she gave him no other choice. "There is a bed calling all our names." He finished firmly.
Rhenora looked up with a bemused smirk, having just finished briefing the Cayuga on the situation on the planet. The Sunfire would remain in orbit for the next few days to support, but the three fresh ships would take over the bulk of the work.
"On my way" she rose from the command chair and headed for the turbolift, bone weary and ready for sleep.
"Yes, please go to your husband and child. They need you as well." Savar said having vacated the helm seat and standing beside the center seat. "Plus you need to rest and get some sleep as well."
A few minutes later the Captain thumbing open the doors to her quarters, the pleasant smells.of food and child engraving her as she stepped forward. For a moment she closed her eyes, simply breathing this glorious scent of life and home. The universe could continue without her for a while. Now it was time to rest.
Sickbay
Dean set the shield aside finding Jennifer asleep right now. Giving a huff seeing her wounds. Reaching to run a hand over her hair and then kiss her forehead. Sitting down he grabbed a PaDD so he could read over reports and after that go with just something to read. Dean did read books.
Baldric stirred slightly at the contact, shifting so she could feel closer to his presence. For the first time in a long time, she felt content.

Quarters
In their quarters Aurora was already sleeping, her recovery well underway. It hadn’t taken her long once Savar had left to head to the bridge, a quick check on N’vea and she was out like a light as soon as her head hit the pillow.
