Eye Spy V - The Final Frontier

Posted on Wed Jul 7th, 2021 @ 10:33pm by Captain Rhenora Kaylen & Commander Savar cha'Salik hei-Surak Talek-sen-deen & Lieutenant Commander Bonnie "Bon-Bon" Durnell & Commander Dean House & Lieutenant Commander Thriss Kla'ren & Lieutenant Commander Aurora Vali & Lieutenant JG Avarak

Mission: Gamma Quadrant
Location: Sunfire
Timeline: Current

Thriss grabbed onto a console to help himself up off of the ground, straightening his uniform while doing so. "The computer core as suffered heavy damage from the First. We should be able to repair it, but it will take some time. The First didn't do any damage to the warp core, as far as I know, but I will run some diagnostics to confirm so." Thriss added.

"Mr Maxwell, your services are required in Engineering. Thank you for the update Thriss. Do we still have impulse and navigational systems?" The Captain enquired.

"Impulse engines have suffered minor damage, as well as navigational systems, but we should be able to repair them within the hour." The Chief reported.

"Good news Chief, let me know when we're able to get under way again" Rhenora replied with a quiet smile. Repairs were already being made thanks to the hard working crew.

After listening to her Chief Engineer's response, Rhenora made the decision to hold still at their current location, so that moving the ship doesn't affect the most critical of repairs.

"Helm, all stop and hold our position" She ordered

As the reports came in Rhenora's heart sank, they had copped another beating, only a few days after coping a beating in the wormhole. It seemed the Gamma Quadrant didn't want to play nicely.

"All departments, report in" The Captain ordered, wanting to get a clear picture of her ship's complete status.

"Dr. Wilson reports 5 critical injuries, numerous minor injuries, no fatalities. She also has one unconscious Jem Hadar" Ops reported.

Dean checked with Sarah and of course ignored any medical attention at the moment. Also making sure that Bonnie was okay. If she wouldn't try to beat him later, he'd just carry her to Sickbay himself. Instead, he let Maxwell handle things in Engineering. Heading back to the Bridge.

Once he got back on the Bridge, they could see he was bleeding, it was on his face on his uniform. He certainly was going to have some bruising. "Maxwell is dealing with the First now." Dean gave a nod to Savar that he'd take his station back now. "Sir."

"Are you ok Dean? It looks as though he gave you a run for your money" Rhenora asked gently, nodding towards the medical tech who was still moving around the bridge taking care of the injuries.

"Might know a lot about them, never went toe to toe with one. They are a lot stronger than I thought. Would give Commander Savar a run for his money also." In theory at least. Looking to the Medic, he shook his head. "Leave it. Nothing is broken and it'll heal. Since I'll probably be ordered, I'll go to Sickbay once we're out of the woods."

The medic looked from Lt House back to the Captain then to the tactical officer again. " Ma'am?" He queried.

"Dean, humour me, let them run a scan to make sure you're not bleeding internally or something. Besides, if I had to you have to as well" She retorted, sending a look towards Savar.

"You had to as well?" He didn't notice before he left that she got hurt, just Savar and Aurora did. Giving a nod to the Medic. Who's scans would come up with light tissue damage, some cuts..which were obvious. There was two fractured ribs, but no internal bleeding or life threatening injuries.

"He's ok for the short term Ma'am, report to sickbay at the end of your shift" The Medic addressed both the Captain and Dean, before turning his attention back to the Captain " That goes for you as well Captain"

Kaylen had the good nature to nod before turning her attention back to the viewscreen and the status of her ship. The Bajoran vessel hung damaged and lifeless in space, close to the remaining Jem Hadar. Neither had any propulsion or weapons left and were nothing more than a hulk in space.

"I guess we have a date, Captain." Dean gave a light chuckle.

"I expect you to keep your end of the bargain there Lieutenant" Rhenora gave him a look. "No skipping out on me"

"Of course not," Nodding with a smile. Giving a look back down to his console once Savar relinquished it. "They're not going any where."

" That's good to hear, as soon as we can I'd like to get a tractor beam on that freighter and tow them back to DS9." She commented as the freighter hung lifeless in space. She felt obligated to try and rescue it for the sake of the Bajoran who had lived on it.

"The tractor seems to be working fine I can lock onto it right now if you wish, Captain."

"Please do - it'll stop it drifting at the very least" Rhenora nodded, thankful they would be able to rescue the freighter.

"Just a moment, Ma'am." It would take a minute before Dean got the Freighter locked on. Once it was, he pulled it over to get it behind them. "Aren't you glad I talked you out of blowing it up now, sir?" Yes a bit of a smug look on his face.

A look of shame mixed with embarrassment flashed across her features before she schooled her Captains Mask back into place " Indeed Mr House, thankfully it didn't end up that way"

Dean honestly was not trying to shame her or make her feel bad for wanting to do what she thought was right in the situation. It was more of a reminder there's not always one solution to a problem. "I'm happy to help, I know how much they mean to you."

The ghost of a smile graced then quickly faded from the Captain's face before she rose. "If you'll excuse me, I believe I'm expected in sickbay. Savar you have the bridge" the Captain beat a hasty retreat from the centre of attention.

"I'll be there shortly for our date, Captain." Grinning to her. Dean was fully aware she was married and it was just at this point a running joke.

Aurora looked toward her husband before quickly following on behind Rhenora, she wanted to check she was alright as well as making sure her son was safe. “Captain” Aurora offered a smile as she caught Rhenora up.

"Aurora, how are you handling things? Balancing motherhood and duty?" She asked honestly, diverting the conversation away from sensitive topics

“To be honest... I’m struggling! I find myself worrying about Sidak more than anything else!” Aurora sighed. “I never realised balancing the two would be such a challenge.” She used her uniform leave to blot some blood from a minor head wound, having connected with the console she was working at during the battle. “I never realised motherhood would be so... complicated.”

"I guess I'll find out for myself soon enough. At least you can report to Savar that I'm doing what I'm told" she laughed as they exited and started walking towards sickbay.

“Well at the risk of sounding like Savar, it’s not just you that you have to worry about now.” Aurora smiled warmly. “Let’s get both of us sorted out, and I can check on Sidak, then I’ll head back to the bridge.”

"Sounds like a plan" Rhenora smiled as they strolled into sickbay, the medical team working smoothly and efficiently to treat the wounded. Soon everything would be repaired, both in ship and in body.
