Eye Spy IV (The Not So Little Guy)

Posted on Wed Jul 7th, 2021 @ 5:09am by Captain Rhenora Kaylen & Commander Savar cha'Salik hei-Surak Talek-sen-deen & Lieutenant Commander Bonnie "Bon-Bon" Durnell & Commander Dean House & Lieutenant Commander Thriss Kla'ren & Lieutenant Commander Aurora Vali & Lieutenant JG Avarak

Mission: Gamma Quadrant
Location: USS Sunfire - Gamma Quadrant
Timeline: Current

“Captain.” Yelled Avarak over all of the commotion, sparks, and exploding consoles on the bridge.

Avarak's voice came through the smoke and chaos the bridge was becoming

“I am detecting a gap in the Jem’Hadar’s shields! If we reroute power from the phasers to the transporter we should be able to beam over a torpedo on a timed detonation.” He couldn’t claim it as being an original idea but in a quadrant as unexplored as this, every old trick is new again.

" Do it!" Rhenora shouted as she clung to her command chair to avoid hitting the deck again.

Avarak was not as lucky as the Captain; he was standing, finalizing his calculations on the requisite recalibrations required for the torpedo to do its job, when he was jolted to the deck. Still lying on the deck, he tapped his commbadge, “Torpedo Room 1, this is Lieutenant Avarak.”

"Crewman Carlos Rodrigues here. Que puedo hacer por ti puente?" He asked, his communicator failing to translate mid-sentence.

“We require an immediate recalibration to one of the torpedoes, I have sent the specifications to your console.”

"Entiendo. Haremos lo que podamos. Rodrigues out." Carlos responded as best he could.

"How long Avarak?" Rhenora asked as the Sunfire managed to get a few potshots off to fend off the latest barrage, they couldn't last too much longer like this. Heck the bridge looked like a bomb had gone off somewhere.

Aurora was doing her best to help out where she could around the bridge, making sure the wounded who were still on their feet were alright and able to work.

The last Bug whirled around, firing all its weapons as the Sunfire scrambled to save herself. The deck twisted post side sharply then downwards as the inertial dampeners couldn't adjust quickly enough. Rhenora felt her head bounce off something and a tickle of wet warmth before the ship managed to right itself. Hopefully, Avarak's idea would work.

"Captain!" Savar yelled as left the tactical station and was at Rhenora's side in an instant. He helped her back into her command chair. "Medical, please see to the Captain. She has been injured." He stated to the medic who was already attending to the Captain's injury. "Let them attend to you Captain. It is a minor cut." He told her.

"Thank you Commander" The Captain replied, trying not to touch her head for fear of making the headache worse. Thankfully a medical team had remained on the bridge and were patching up as required. The hiss of a hypo deadened the headache somewhat and a hasty dermal regeneration stopped the worst of the bleeding. It would need the final touches at a later time but would hold for now. Still the Captain did not take her eyes off the battle her ship was embroiled in.

“Forty-five seconds until I can beam over the torpedo, Captain!” Responded Avarak, having now recovered from his fall.

" Good work Lieutenant" Rhenora replied as she eyed off the next move of the Bug. "Helm, roll to Starboard then ahead full, get them on our tail so we can drop the torpedo. Failing that I'll detonate the fuel cells on the Bajoran ship"

In Engineering...

Thriss was on the floor, a new challenger had approached from behind yet instead of attacking he foolishly blew his element of surprise. The First now stood, having swept the blue one off his feet, enemies surrounding him with no clear way to end his mission. He eyed Dean who appeared to hold a stupid-looking grin upon his face. "Victory is life." He spoke clearly and calmly before discharging several uppercut shots into Dean's chin.

"You've got that backwards." Keeping the smirk, until he was hit a few times. Planting his right foot back to keep his balance. Dean shook his head, wiping blood from his lip. Flicking it away. "Life and living is Victory." Looking down a moment and grabbing at the pocket micro-transporter. Only to bring out the compound bow to use as a melee weapon. Snapping it out and then across The Firsts cheek and a cross check from above to the top of his head.

Sarah squeaked as the fight took place, one hand on her phaser which she didn't entirely trust herself using, the other on her medkit which she was sure she was going to have to use at the end of it.

The First stumbled before regaining his footing, the fight he had craved finally being delivered. Victory was life, and he would die for it. He was bred to fight, bred to win. He regarded Dean with a practised gaze, identifying the weaknesses, and proceeded to exploit them.

That was going to be a bit difficult for The First in hind sight. Dean already had that in check to change up what he was doing. Even if he was knocked down, he'd just kippup back to his feet and immediately retaliate from different angles. Finally stopping and making a motion with his arms. "You've lost, call them off, First."

" I was no longer the First the instant I was captured, kill me now" The First snarled, still not yeidling.

"I'm not going to kill you. You're also not going to win this. Surrender doesn't destroy your honor." Dean sighed a little bit. Knowing the answer to that but he gave the option. Going ahead in more for the knock-out.

"Victory is life" The First struggled, refusing to surrender.

"So be it," Dean sighed yet again. Still using the bow as a weapon. The swings momentum would inflict more damage than just his hands would. After more exchanges of blows, Dean finally dropped the bow and jumped up. Wrapping his legs around the Firsts neck. The push spinning them both to the ground. Still keeping hold and reaching to grab one of the Firsts arms and pull on it to keep him there until he passed out from the air cut off.

The First struggled for a moment, then finally went still.

Sarah stepped forward, medical tricorder at the ready. "He's unconscious"

Dean let go and shoved First to the side so he could get up, "That was kind of the point, darlin."

" I was making sure he wasn't you know.. dead..." Sarah clarified as she stood again, making way for the security team.

“Captain, modifications have been made, I can now beam over the torpedo!” Reported the science officer.

"Do it Lieutenant" Rhenora ordered as the Sunfire swung around to keep the bug behind her.

Dutifully, and without a moment’s hesitation, Avarak initiated the transport. In a matter of seconds, the torpedo rematerialized on the Jem’Hadar ship, and he turned to look at the view screen just in time to see the bug-shaped vessel explode in a brilliant ball of fire; a fire which was quickly snuffed out by the empty vacuum of space until there was little more than shattered sections of hull and debris.

With the bug now destroyed the threat was essentially over, the remaining bug was hanging heavily wounded in space and no longer posted an threat.
"Stand down red alert" Rhenora exhaled, releasing the death grip she had on her command chair.

"Captain, are you alright? Do you require additional medical attention? " Savar's voice came from her side. His eyes taking silent stock of her physical condition.

She regarded her First Officer, wondering just how far she could pull over his eyes.
" I promise I'll get tended to as soon as we can everything under control" She admitted, knowing the First was still on the loose - last heard in Engineering.

"Bridge to Engineering, status report"

"I see." Savar replied, as he waved the medical team that was still on the bridge down to their location. "Examine the Captain. I fear she is being less than truthful in regards to her injuries." He stated.

The Captain stifled a protest, clamping down on the quick wit that was begging to be let into the light of day. As they waited for Engineering to respond Rhenora sat obediently in her command chair, giving Savar a good glare as she did so.

"Really Captain, there is no reason for you to act like a petulant child and glare at me. This is for your own good. The ship and crew needs you to be at your best. " Savar replied calmly, Rhenora's glare having no effect on him.

" I am NOT a petulant child" She retorted, unable to resist the impulse.

"I agree you are not and I did not call you one. I merely said you were acting like a petulant child and your outburst proves my point." Savar countered calmly.

The urge was to poke her tongue out, which she valiantly tried to suppress. Instead she listened to the status reports that started to trickle in from various departments.

Avarak, having fully recovered from his most recent fall, straightened his tunic and overhead the Captain and XO talking. He instinctively raised an eyebrow, not expecting that a Captain and XO would speak to each other like that on the bridge.

"It's finally taken care of, Captain," Dean called from Engineering. "I do need Security down here to take the unconscious First into custody."

Thriss grabbed onto a console to help himself up off of the ground, straightening his uniform while doing so. "The computer core as suffered heavy damage from the First. We should be able to repair it, but it will take some time. The First didn't do any damage to the warp core, as far as I know, but I will run some diagnostics to confirm so." Thriss added.

"Mr Maxwell, your services are required in Engineering. Thank you for the update Thriss. Do we still have impulse and navigational systems?" The Captain enquired.
