Mission: Gamma Quadrant
Location: Gamma Quadrant
Timeline: Current

"Savar, see if you get transport through their shields, beam the First directly to the bridge. Lt Maxwell - we're going to need your best security team up here yesterday" The Captain ordered, taking a deep breath and hoping she was doing the right thing. By beaming the First to the bridge she was taking a risk - but she could also force their hand in weakness if she pulled it off.

On board the Jem'Hadar Vessel

"First. It is my place to remind you, there is a treaty in place with the Federation which supersedes our position here."

"You will maintain a lock on that vessel until the moment I no longer breath...." It wasn't but a breath later that the First disappeared in a haze of blue light."

"I shall endeavor to do so Captain." Savar answered as he turned back to his console while talking to the transporter room quietly. A few moments later there was the familiar sound of a Federation transporter in use and an instant later the form of a Jem'Hadar first was standing in the middle of the Sunfire bridge.

Avarak had the antitetryon beam ready to be deployed at a moment's notice and when he heard the distinctive sound of a federation transporter, he turned around to see the Jem’Hadar first materialize on the bridge. He instinctively reached for his phaser and stood vigilant, just in case.

Aurora felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. Facing a Jem’Hadar gave her the creeps. Judging from emotions on the bridge others were feeling the same.

"Hold your fire everyone" Rhenora said calmly, motioning for the weapons to be lowered but not holstered. The First took in his new surroundings for a moment before reaching for his cloak.

"Don't...or we will destroy both you and your ship." The Captain said firmly. She was walking a damned fine line and she knew it.

It was a momentary shock. A soldiers' blink as the now Second realized what had happened. He stepped forward and assumed the place of the First, each subsequent soldier falling in step. Their place was determined, they were trained, no questions needed asked, efficiency. "Modulate our screens. Target weapons on the Federation ship and fire." Capturing a soldier against their will in a time of peace. Shame.

The Sunfire's sheild's were up and her weapons ready, but with the First on the bridge, Rhenora's attention was divided. The Akira class cruiser rocked with the impact of the weapons fire the deck shuddering as the shields absorbed the impact.

"House and Avarak, use the Antitetreyon beam, see if you can punch through their sheilds"

Aurora looked at the Jem’Hadar First, somehow he didn’t seem as threatening as she’d expected. He wasn’t bragging... yet! She stood from where she’d been hiding behind Savar, moving to his side instead. “Why are you following those people? They’re terrified of you! What is it they’ve done to warrant being hunted?”

The First harumphed and stood still and at attention as he prepared to receive a soldiers death. He knew his mission was near an end and he knew his Second would take over and complete the mission as ordered. It was what they did. It was who they were. He answered only the the Founders and their servants the Vorta and to no one else.

The First took an opportunity and shrouded, disappearing an instant before phaser fire lanced where he once had been.

"Maxwell, round him up" Rhenora's voice was on edge as the Jem Hadar ship threatened to fire another barrage. The Antitetreyon beam fired, weakening the enemy's shields, giving them a chance.

There was a bit of a dilemma he could move or keep at his station. So Dean compromised. Keeping an ear out a bit for foot steps and shifting. "To your left."

"Tactical, open fire, all weapons" she ordered, not letting go of the hand phaser. The shrouded Jem Hadar was both deadly and dangerous, and they had no idea where he was.

Taking the opportunity as ordered to open fire with an Alpha strike on the lead Bug. Dean was targeting engines and their power core first.

As the bug shaped vessel lined up for another attack run, the new First, new to the position, decided to play his trump card early. "Bring up the rear guard. Have them circle around her flank. We'll have them out gunned and out numbered."

The signal was given. The two ships that were in stack formation on the far side of the nearby desolate rock, slowly began moving into position. Not yet ordered to fight, their job was to prevent escape and create a larger tactical advantage over their foe.

The Captain took in the two ships. Now she was outgunned and would soon be flanked with the Sunfire still trying to protect the Bajoran ship. She had an idea, it would be tricky but it may work.

"Avarak, can we drop shields in a small area, just enough to get a transporter beam to rescue the Bajoran's on that freighter?" She asked towards the ships science officer. If she didn't have to protect the freighter, they would be more able to maneuver.

"Yes, Captain." Avarak paused for a few brief seconds to make the calculations required. "It is possible, however, considering standard Jem'Hadar tactics, I would not recommend lowering a section of the shields for more than seven seconds."

"I did mention they like to flank, Captain." That wasn't ego from Dean..at least this time. It was just a fact. "We could also go ahead and try the Bouncing Betty."

Rhenora considered her options, they were limited and not all that great. "Try the new weapon, as we fire, drop a section of the shields and beam as many across as we can then raise them again in that 7 seconds" she at at where Dean had mentioned he heard the first "Maxwell, take your cue from Lt House"

"Here's crossing our fingers," Dean configured the tubes to load the new torpedo. Giving a wait a moment before firing. "Now Avarak!" Hitting the button to fire.

On the Captain's order, Avarak lowered a section of the port-ventral shields and managed to beam over just under half of the Bajorans off their vessel. "Just under half of the Bajorans have been transported off their vessel, Captain."

"Good work, we just need to buy ourselves enough time to get the rest." The Captain acknowledged. They were rapidly being out manoeuvred. One of the Jem Hadar bugs fired again, the other taking a pot shot at the Bajoran freighter, rocking both to the core.

Savar had been quiet but that didn't mean he hadn't been busy. He had been studying the Jem'Hadar shields in greater detail. "Captain, I believe we can end this battle quickly. A prolonged phaser attack on the small generator grid on the underside of their saucer will be bring down the Jem'Hadar's shields."

"Do it" Rhenora ordered as the ship shook violently with another barrage. They still needed to get the rest of the Bajoran crew off the freighter before it too was blown out of the sky.

Aurora frowned. “It’s like the war is still ongoing for these Jem’Hadar!”

"I had feared what soldiers bred for battle might do when there was no battle to be fought" Rhenora grumbled as the battle continued. The lights flickered as a particularly brutal barrage caused the deck to buck like an anger horse. Rhenora clung on for dear life, she couldn't afford to hit the deck, plus the Jem Hadar was still on the loose somewhere.

Down in engineering Thriss and his team were keeping everything in check, and keeping the warp drive on standby in case they needed to make a run for it. He walked over to one of the stations near the core to check the status of the warp core.

The First was moving, keeping shrouded in order to maintain his advantage. He considered killing several of the bridge crew, but a good battle was what he craved - he was bred to fight, it was in his blood. He took a few pot shots at several key officers, to wound, not to kill. To impart his power before silently kicking the hatch off an access tube and moving on with the next phase of his plan.

Savar made a small grunt as he was struck in the back by a phaser shot from The First. He quickly ignored the pain and continued to work on keeping the Sunfire's systems online as the ship rolled from a phaser blast from a Jem'Hadar ship.

Aurora gasped feeling the initial pain jolt from her husband through their bond. “Savar!” She moved to him. “You’re wounded! You need medical treatment.”

He looked up into the face he loved so much but because of upbringing had never fully expressed. "I am... still able to function Aurora. Help me to maintain the systems from going off line."

"Medical team to the bridge" Rhenora ordered as the ship bucked again. She could see Savar was still on his feet - always a good sign.

"No Captain. I can still do my duty." Savar replied like he was reading the Sunday paper. He spoke again this time to House, "Mr. House direct a prolonged phaser strike on the small generator grid on the underside of the lead Jem'Hadar ship. It will destroy their shields."

The medical team emerged and began treating those that were injured at the rear of the bridge, a few phaser wounds and impact injuries. Rhenora looked at Savar with a critical eye. "Savar, at least let them scan you and treat the burn while they're here, for some reason I don't think we're out of the woods yet" The second ship began firing as if to emphasize her point.

Savar considered the Captain's request and after a few seconds of silent deliberation nodded his acceptance. "Very well Captain as you wish, I will submit to a scan." He looked at the second ship. "A photon torpedo spread set to explode just in front of their shields might overload their sensors long enough so we could escape with all the Bajorans safely onboard.''

Aurora stood at her husband’s side. “I can look after the systems, you get treated.” She offered a confident smile even though she was deeply worried about Sidak with the Jem’Hadar still loose.

Savar nodded and brought his hand up to caress Aurora's cheek. "I will not be long Aurora." As he walked to the rear of the bridge to be looked at.

Aurora concentrated on the job at hand doing her best to ignore the fact that her own green blood was slowly starting to pool underneath her shirt. She too had been hit by a stray shot from the First, but up until now she hadn’t even realised it.

Savar's eyes widen fractionally at the sight of Aurora's blood staining her shirt. "You are injured and require immediate medical attention Aurora." Has his hand clamped down over hers and he led her to to the rear of the bridge. "Aurora requires attention." He announced and then softer to Aurora. "Let them treat you Aurora. Sidak needs his mother."

Aurora nodded. “I... didn’t even realise, I was too busy worrying about you.” She stood letting the medics do their job. “I’m worried about Sidak, especially with the first still on the loose.”

"I worry about you as well Aurora. Sidak will be fine, he is in Sickbay. Dr. Wilson and the others will protect him and keep him safe." Savar assured her. "There is also a security presence in Sickbay."

The medical team tended the wounded as the bridge officers worked to destroy the Jem Hadar threatening them. 'Bouncing Betty' was about to be deployed, Savar was organizing a photon torpedo to disrupt their shields, and Rhenora held a card up her sleeve. If she could rescue the rest of the Bajoran ship's crew she could then detonate the fuel cells in their cargo hold. The resulting explosion could possibly damage the Jem Hadar further, depending on the proximity of course.
