Mission: Character Development
Location: North Pole
Timeline: Current

Jenna Lee Ramthorne

Jenna stood at ease when she spoke, voice calm and steady, the way it always was when she wanted people to listen without feeling ordered to do so.

“Sunfire crew...
As we reach the close of this year, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the work you’ve done and the distance we’ve traveled together. This ship has been far from quiet, and neither have the demands placed on each of you. You met them with discipline, professionalism, and no small measure of care for one another.

The holidays are often described as a time of rest, but they’re also a time of reflection. Wherever you come from, whatever traditions you carry with you, I hope you’re able to take a breath, share a meal, exchange a laugh, or simply find a few moments of peace.

Thank you for keeping this ship running, for watching each other’s backs, and for showing up day after day ready to do the job right.
From my family to yours, however you define that, happy holidays. We’ll take the next watch together.”
Her expression softened just slightly before the channel closed.

Remal Kajun

Remal smiled softly, hands folded, voice warm in that steady way that always made people feel anchored.

“Happy Holidays, my friends. However you mark them, may these days give you a moment to breathe, to rest, and to remember why you keep choosing one another even when the universe makes that choice difficult. I hope you find warmth, good food, and a little laughter where you can. And if the year has taken something from you, I hope the coming one gives something back… gently, and with purpose. You’re not alone. You never were.”

Patin

Patin lingered just out of phase, boots hooked onto nothing, watching the Sunfire crew move through their small, stubborn rituals, hands clasped, shoulders bumped, laughter traded like contraband. The ship hummed. The universe behaved. Briefly.

“Happy holidays,” she murmured, not bothering to project it properly. “You’re all still breathing, still choosing each other, still improvising under fire. That counts as a miracle where I come from.”

A spark of light flared like a candle that knew better than to burn down. “Eat well. Rest when you can. Love loudly. I’ll keep an eye on the sharp edges while you’re busy being.”

Leo Da'Cinci

“Happy Samhain to the lot of ye. Mind your fires, mind your dead, and don’t go makin’ promises tonight ye can’t keep come mornin’. If the veil feels thin, that’s because it is... so show a bit of respect, have a drink for those who earned it, and for the love of the ship, don’t touch my tools. Slàinte.”

Rosa Prilen Coy

Rosa stood at the center of the flight bridge, hands resting lightly on the rail, posture composed, almost serene.

“Crew of the Sunfire,” she began, voice warm but steady, “we’ve crossed a lot of strange space together this year. Long shifts. Tight calls. Moments where the stars felt less like destinations and more like witnesses.”

A breath. Something flickered behind her eyes. “I know the holidays can be complicated out here,” she continued. “Distance stretches memories. Silence gets loud. But I want you to know this ship holds more than metal and circuits, it holds people who show up, who keep flying, who keep choosing to care even when it’s hard.”

A faint smile touched her mouth. “Take the time you can. Rest when you’re allowed. Laugh if it comes easily. And if it doesn’t… that’s all right too. We'll carry each other through.”

Warmth is good for them, a quieter voice murmured beneath her thoughts, velvet-soft and indulgent. Relaxation lowers defenses. Makes the fire burn brighter.

Rosa’s jaw tightened, just a hair, then eased. “From my cockpit to yours,” she finished, “happy holidays. Fly safe. Come back whole.”

The channel closed. Somewhere deep inside, Handzon smiled, sated for now, patient as ever.

Commodore S'thenosis Gorgox

The Commodore stood before the assembled crew, posture unyielding, hands folded behind her back. Her gaze swept the room once, measured, complete.

“Starfleet calendars insist this is a season of reflection,” she said evenly. “Of pause. Of gratitude.” A fractional pause followed, deliberate. “You have served this vessel with discipline, resolve, and, when circumstances demanded it, imagination. The ship endures because you do. That is not sentiment. It is fact.”

Her eyes softened only by a degree, as if acknowledging something private and inconvenient. “Take this time to rest where you can. Attend to those who steady you. Return prepared to serve one another with the same precision and professionalism you have shown thus far.” She inclined her head, just enough to count as acknowledgment.

“On behalf of Starfleet Command… I wish this ship and her crew a secure, uneventful, and, yes, happy holiday season.” Then, as always, she turned crisply and left them with the weight of it.

Bonnie Bon-Bon Durnell

Bonnie cleared her throat, glanced once at a console she absolutely did not need for this, and smiled anyway.

“Happy holiday season, you brilliant, stubborn, occasionally flammable collection of geniuses. May your circuits stay cool, your coffee stay strong, your transporters not reinvent physics without supervision, and your bad days end with good people nearby. Take the time to breathe, to laugh, to remember why we do this, because somehow, against all odds, we make impossible things work together. Even when they spark. Especially when they spark.”

She paused, softer now, sincerity slipping through the humor like a warm current. “Be safe. Be kind. And if luck runs thin, borrow some of mine. I seem to generate it in bulk, just not always in the right direction.”
