Sickbay
In Sickbay Aurora was resting, she was reading one of her books with a drink and some nibbles to hand if she fancied them. She was grateful to be feeling more like herself again, she was hoping for some peace for a while after their mission was done.
After leaving Rhenora, Savar went to Sickbay to spent time with Aurora. She was recovering well but still not able to return to their quarters. Entering Sickbay he saw her reading one of her books. "Hello Aurora." He greeted her, "If this is an inopportune time, I can come back later." His twinkling as they showed his jesting.
“Not a chance!” Aurora grinned as she put the book down and tapped the biobed next to her. “I’ve spent enough time away from you and N’Vea, I just want to get home now.”
"You can go home when I say you can go home" Tarsis admonished gently from the nearby computer terminal. "I just need one more set of clear blood readings then you are good to go" he added quickly, wanting to make 200% sure that the beastie pathogen was gone.
Aurora nodded. “It’s not a complaint Doctor, you’ve worked miracles here and I’m glad you were there for all of us.”
"As am I Doctor, your work has been exemplary. It is just that our quarters are not the same with out her there. They are devoid of her spark, her joy, her spirit. She is missed very much. So, the sooner she is cleared to leave here, they better it will be." Savar said as he sat on the biobed next to Aurora's.
"I understand your urgency Commander, the next blood screening issue in 3 hours. I can't hurry time up i afraid. Protocols are protocols." He glanced over at Dr Wilson who was still recovering slowly. He wished for his boss to be well again but again, only time could do its thing.
"Do, who, what?" Dean had actually been sleeping, just now waking up. "Dammit... still here. I thought maybe it'd be done by now."
"You will be a free man in 3 hours Commander. I suggest you enjoy the back of your eyelids or do something useful in here." Tarsis quipped.
Shuttlebay
The job for the day as done as Jenna queued up the comms, "Alright, squads, duty done for the day, let's take her home and get some much needed rest." She closed the channel and the various squad leaders reported in they were ready. She turned her shuttle towards the Sunfire and headed for home.
The Sunfire main hangar was a pass-through hangar, meaning there was an entrance at the back and the front and it was open all of the way through. A huge space, however, as Jenna brought the shuttle in through the containment shields she could clearly see the smallest person on the ship acting as though she were the most important.
Bonnie was directing people as a traffic cop does when the service has failed, and though the thought amused Jenna, she just knew this particular day was about to be far from over.
Baldric set her own shuttle down where Bonnie had directed and popped the rear hatch, walking down the ramp with a bemused expression. The others in her shuttle seemed bewildered at best.
"Alright, Bonnie, what gives?" She asked directly, striding up to the young woman.
Bonnie snapped around, focus and determination etched firmly on her face until she saw who was asking and then it just sort of melted away. Jenna walked up next to Jennifer and placed her hand on her hip, a physical question instead of a verbal one.
"Glad you asked Commander," she nodded first to Baldric and then to Jenna. "Commander." Then she continued. "We have a plan to seed the antidote into the upper Jetstream above a massive combining series of storm cells. Right now Kit is working on a series of probes, Doctor Talis is working to replicate the antidote into a compressed ionized gas and I am trying to get all hands on deck and direct shuttles and pilots so that we know how many are fully operational."
Jenna smiled knowing that task was normally her job as the Flight Deck Commander. "Do tell. Could you use a hand with that?" She asked, fully aware of how she would go about getting all hands on deck.
"Righto then, looks like we're setting up to go back out." Baldric turned to her crew and gave them the news, buoyed by the prospect of getting this pathogen gone once and for all.
Bonnie called after Baldric as she walked away, "Don't forget to get your stimulant of choice! Oh, shoot, oh well I tried." She said defeated.
"It's all good Bonnie, we've got time. Now, about those pilots."
Bridge
Back on the bridge, Savar had taken up the helm position, with Rhenora in the center seat. The majority of the senior staff were piloting shuttles or programming probes. The next few hours would be tense, but with the cavalry now only hours away, it would be worth it.
Savar sat at the helm position he was waiting the order from Rhenora to move the Sunfire into position to seed the upper atmosphere in assisting the dispensing of the antidote Dr. Tarsis had developed.
"Bridge to sickbay, how are you going with the antidote replication?" The Captain asked through the ships comm.
"Nearly done Bridge, we're beaming it to the shuttle bay in batches as we're getting it done. Another 20 minutes should call it complete," Tarsis replied, the flurry of busy staff working around him evident through the channel.
"Great news, well done in pulling this together so quickly, I'll relay that to the shuttle teams" Kaylen closed the channel and opened a channel to the shuttlebay.
"Shuttlebay, you should have the rest of the antidote within 20 minutes. Will you be ready by then?"
There was almost a full minute of silence before Bonnie's voice came through the comms, "Um, yeah, I think so. We are," she grunted as she helped install one of the gas pods into the shuttle's distribution node. "We're already installing the anti-doti into the shuttles as fast as we can. Unfortunately, we lost two shuttles due to... malfunction. And one of the pilots came down with the Bolarian Flu. The amount of snot on the flight deck was incalculable."
"I think what Ms. Durnell is trying to convey is we will be ready, come Hell or bad weather." Jenna finished into the channel. "We've already decided to rig several ships as drone wingman. They'll fly right next to the shuttles and deliver their payload."
"That was my idea." Bonnie said excitedly. "I mean, it came to me after slipping on snot and hitting my head on the deck. But I'm fine now. Good to go."
Back on the bridge, the mental image of slipping on snot was enough to make the Captain gasp for air before recovering. "Make sure you get checked out as soon as you are able, and quarantine whoever had Bolarian flu...we don't need any more illness going around" she shivered involuntarily.
"Commander move the Sunfire into position" she instructed
"Aye Captain." Savar replied as his fingers deftly moved about the console and the Sunfire responded to his gentle touch as it slowly but majestically glided into a high altitude orbit and once it was achieved he announced, "We are in position Captain."
Probe and Photon Torpedo storage
Kit was perspiring profusely. Her uniform top showing a line of sweat down her back. She was busy with one of the technician trying to remove a very stubborn instrumentation package from the class three probe. The science team had removed a good many of the science instrumentation packages from their class three probes and had begun modifying them as delivery packages for the antidote, but it seemed that the last ten were not going to make it easy. Not for the first time Kit wished that the environmental controls in the storage bay could be lowered. The perspiration was scented with her pheromones and she knew Astraea would not want to nurse when she returned back from her duties, being that she had her father’s overly acute sense of smell.
Ronson was nearby, assisting where he could to get things underway. "Need some help?" He asked with a smile, poking his head around the doorway.
Kit, the illusion that half her upper body was inside the probe, replied “Wouldn’t happen to have a BFR or sledgehammer would you?”
The young technician chuckled as he and Kit began to use old fashioned wrenches to remove old style bolts.
“I mean the older probes were designed by an over eager Tellarite, who’s idea of swap out components was swap out isolinear chips.” Stated Kit in exasperation. “And wouldn’t you know the last ten class three probes we have are the old school probes.”
The technician on the other end of the probe let out a small curse, "Damn it that is the second bolt I have sheared.”
Kit sighed and slid back from the inner tubing house, “Well Mister Mitchell if you would care to give this a try; don’t let me stand in your way. I could use a break.” A slight but sweet smell of cinnamon, roses, and vanilla wafting off her. “Definitely going to need to shower before I try and nurse Astraea.” She stated as she stood up and stretched.
"Go, grab a break, I'll see if I can get this finished off for you" he said kindly, motioning towards the door. "We missed you while you were gone"
