Still on Course for Masimal

Posted on Wed Apr 2nd, 2025 @ 10:21am by Commander Jennifer Baldric & Senior Chief Petty Officer Ronson Mitchell & Commander Jenna Ramthorne & Commander Savar cha'Salik hei-Surak Talek-sen-deen & Lieutenant Commander Aurora Vali & 1st Lieutenant Freya Score & 2nd Lieutenant Connor McQueen & Commodore S'thenosis Gorgox & Remal Kajun

Mission: Ramant
Location: USS Sunfire
Timeline: End of Ramant Story?

At first all that could be heard was the normal ship noises, the hum, the console beeps, the scanners. Her head was pounding as though she had blacked out and slept on her neck wrong. She blinked, sat forward and rubbed her temples, groaning audibly at the pain.

The screen in front of her appeared to be still, a cluster of gases in a variety of colors. Blinking, she checked her console for coordinates only to realize they had arrived at the Masimal cluster. Had she fallen asleep at her duty station? She wondered before looking around and realizing everyone was in a similar state of being.

"Ugh what hit me?" Commander Jennifer Baldric groaned as she sat up in the command chair, looking around in alarm as she realized most of the crew were slowly coming to. "What happened? Report!?"

She lifted her head from her console and looked around, feeling groggy. Bonnie then accessed the computer and the records. A moment later she announced, "The initial Computer report indicates we passed through a spacial anomaly appearing in the lower delta band. There is a sensor blackout of 47.35 hours."

"47 hours?!?" Baldric exclaimed, her expression changing from drowsy to shocked. "All stop, full systems check. Surely we can't have been unconscious for 2 days"

"Engineering is reporting the same. All engineering systems do appear to be intact" Rynn called out as she rubbed her eyes from being groggy. "Didn't something similar happen to the Enterprise D?"

"What do you mean, have a missing time experience?" Baldric queried, feeling as though she had missed something big. Something was off but she couldn't put her finger on it.

"Right." Bonnie declared before pulling up the record. "Something about the Ngame Nebula and a T Tauri Class star system. There was a wormhole which cause the crew to lose their consciousness for like a minute or something. They later realized the wormhole had affected them and dropped a beacon to warn other ships to avoid the area." She pulled the record and 'threw' it up on the main viewer for all to see.

Jenna quick scanned the information then made her own proposal. "I suggest we do the same. It would be dangerous if another ship came along and got stuck in this area. We only survived because the ship stopped us at our destination. It could have been much worse."

Seated in his first officer's chair, Savar blinked his eyes as he listened to the conversation around him. "47.35 hours is a significant time for us to be unconscious yet...." He paused there was something, but he couldn't put a finger on it. "We are most fortunate that nothing adverse happened to the ship or us in that time."

"Set up the warning buoys and drop them as soon as they're ready." She tugged the neck of her uniform a bit. "I must have eaten a lot during those missing 48 hours..." She mused to herself before turning her attention back to matters at hand.

"Do we have a full complement to of crew on board?" Rhenora asked, her concern always about her people.

Savar quickly checked the crew manifest. "All crew members are onboard Captain."

"Confirmed. Computer records and sensor records all match." Bonnie replied with curiosity as to why any crew would be missing. "Reports are coming in from all decks, mostly bumps and bruises caused by the distortion knocking people out at their duty stations." She twisted to see the crew better and the zipper on her tunic popped and lowered several inches. Her chest felt strangely heavier, like she was bloated or something.

BELOW DECKS

Below decks, Remal found himself in his quarters, pulling himself up off of the floor. Only moments before he was holding Patina and had placed her in her bassinet. Head reeling, he looked down into the cradle only to find it empty. Quickly he tapped his badge, "Computer, locate Patina Kalen-Kajun."

"Patina is located in the child services room."

"And just who is in charge of child services at this moment?" He asked.

"Commodore S'thenosis Gorgox is the officer on duty in that area currently."

BRIDGE

Baldric breathed a sigh of relief to know the full complement of crew were on board, she noted however that some staff were not where they should be. The childcare staff were mostly nowhere near the children, the sickbay staff were not in Sickbay but scattered around the ship as if responding to some kind of emergency, likewise with the security and military personnel.

"Security and Marines, confirm there are no intruders on board!" It was more a directive than a question.

BELOW DECKS

S'thenosis unfurled from her wrapped position on the floor, a normal sleeping position for a Draconian. She opened her eyes and like the astute detective she was, tapped her badge to submit a report to the bridge.

"Bridge, this is Commodore S'thenosis Gorgox. I appear to have woken up surrounded by small offspring without reprehension of how one came to be in this particular predicament. At last recall I was in the comfort of my quarters."

She then felt something squirm and looked down and continued, "I also seem to have been made responsible for one..." Something in her lap squirmed as well. "Make that two recent hatchlings. One belongs to Captain Rhenora Kaylen and Counselor Remal Kajun, while the other appears, I believe, to be the product of Commander Savar cha'Salik hei-Surak Talek-sen-deen and Aurora Vali."

The children surrounding her started to slowly move and rise from their sleeping positions like little zombies. Her eyes clearly showed the panic within her soul, "They appear to be waking from their slumber. Please send someone responsible to collect their progeny. "

BRIDGE

Aurora stirred from a light slumber, last she remembered she was only visiting the bridge to see if she was needed, having recently given birth to her daughter. She was about to say something when she heard Commodore Gorgox requesting help. “I’ll go” she offered a smile as she stood up to head off and get her daughter.

Savar watched as Aurora went to collect N'vea, their daughter. from Commodore Gorgox and he heard the underlying panic in the Commodore's voice. It was good the Aurora had left to get their daughter and save the Commodore from a panic attack or worse.

Over the next 10 minutes or so reports from the various departments and chiefs rolled in, the highlights called out to the bridge crew as they did so. It was soon apparent that everyone had experienced the time loss, and that all the ship's systems were showing a time loss with only a spacial anomaly to blame. Commander Baldric was uneasy but apart from warning buoys, there was little they could do. The ship checked out, the crew were rattled but fine. Her gut told her something was up but it would be like chasing ghosts.

" Helm, is our current projected course still the Masimal system?" She asked, hinting that they may investigate this anomaly and then move on to their original mission.

Jenna referred back to the main viewer, "We have arrived at Masimal Commander. The coordinates for the anomaly suggest it is approximately 1 light year behind us, in the other direction." She turned, "We can circle back or continue on. Your call." She added, stating the obvious.

"Negative Commander, I don't want to risk running into it again."Baldric confirmed, despite thebscientific curiosity she knew was gnawing away at the scientists on board. "Ahead 1/2 impulse, we need to apologise for being late for our survey mission"

Marine Barracks

Freya turned to the assembled marines, her expression a mix of determination and urgency.

"Alright, team! Suit up and prepare for action. I need you to secure and thoroughly check all decks for any threats. Dersch McQueen, you’re with me. Let’s move out!"

As she spoke, the marines quickly began to don their gear, checking their weapons and equipment with practiced efficiency. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as they prepared to face whatever awaited them.

Connor reached up to touch his temples as Lieutenant Score’s orders came drifting through a cloudy head. He heard her voice, but memories came through as flashes… Freya had left the Sunfire..hadn’t she? He rubbed his temples again as other flashes came through.. an abduction? Red alert klaxon on the bridge as people around him started disappearing… perhaps a from a dream? He gave his head a shake as his body seemed to move separately, he readied his rifle and fell in behind the Lieutenant.

Freya noticed conner was a bit off. "Hey Mcqueen you good?"

Connor blinked, the haze still clouding his thoughts. He gave Freya a distracted smile, though it didn’t reach his eyes. "Yeah, just... It’s nothing." He glanced around, his grip tightening on the rifle as if it might anchor him to the present. "Let’s just stay focused."

The teams conducted their searches and concluded there was nothing untoward. It was unnerving that they'd all lost time but the risk of it repeating was too great to consider going back and investigating further. Over time there would be minor recollections, tidbits of information that the Ramant had missed or couldn't completely erase. For now though, the Sunfire had no choice but to continue.
