Mission: The Beginning of the End
Location: Bajor

Bajor - Forest in the hills

"Heads up, they're moving in" Kira whispered into her comm badge, hoping that the communication devices she had shared amongst the villagers were still working. Like a fan the Brotherhood began to move towards the cottage, a classic pincer movement that was usually effective, unbeknownst to them, the villagers were onto it and moving in behind them.

Silently the mass moved, avoiding their own traps, their pace beginning to build as the forest gave way to cleared fields. A roar built within them, chants and weapons bashing together as they ran, and began lobbing handheld explosives towards their target.

A light snow fell, the darkening sky promising more of the same.

The battle had begun.

The trio of Patin, Zio and Jenna watched as a majority of the Wraith Brotherhood began to move off, knowing things were now in motion. Left behind were stragglers, and those charged with watch over the prisoners.

Patin, seizing on the moment, activated her Birdshot with the trigger hidden within one of her many pockets. At first a haze began to permeate the woods, carrying with it a foul odor. Jenna and Zio covered their mouth and nose, not really knowing what to expect.

The tail half of the forces audibly began coughing and hacking and a moment later several dropped to their knees. A few passed out altogether. This garnered the attention of the stragglers. As they moved to approach the scene, abandoning their posts, Patin activated the second piece to her Birdshot puzzle.

An electric charge, equivalent to a cattle prod erupted from each of the larger 'seeds'. Anyone within range had their lower extremities immediately numbed. Several of the Brotherhood could be seen urinating on themselves uncontrollably before collapsing into the wet snow.

Jenna and Zio both looked at Patin who held an amused grin on her face. "You're scary sometimes, you know that." Zio offered, breaking the silence.

Patin in turn opened the gate to the pen, "Thanks. That should disable a third at least. I expect chaos for the rest. You two ready?"

"Yep, Kira should be here any minute." Jenna offered, rubbing her hands where the bonds had rubbed her wrists the wrong way. "And I want my weapon back." She said with a serious brow.

The trio, now free, ran together towards the centerline of the Brotherhood, picking up whatever weapons they could find to make this fight end more efficiently.

"That's our signal" Kira shouted as the sound of explosions and generous chaos could be heard. The villagers moved from their hiding pool places and attacked from behind the Brotherhood.

The Battle was joined.

The mass of the Brotherhood was now entering the clearing that separated the woods from the path and the cabin beyond. The trio and now the calvary still held the cover of the trees. Their movement, their noise alone, divided the attention of the Brotherhood army. Focus now turned to chaos as their structured movement dissolved into a flight or fight response. Many turned back to fight the force approaching as it was the most immediate threat.

Those at the rear had been zapped with the birdshot and were being cleaned up by by the villagers. The flanks however remained strong, pushing forward towards their target. Explosives were being lobbed, some hitting their target, others falling well short.

The smaller of the group, Patin ran forward from one target to the next, charging through them with one singular focus, get to her friends. She was old, and she did not care. In the front of her mind, she could see her own end and it was not now, not to these basic ruffians.

At some point, she had picked up a spear-tipped weapon that was likely once a pitchfork and threw it at the enemy running toward her. Impacting his arm, he fell backward. As he fell, she used his body to propel herself into the air and into the next combatant, feet first.

More graceful, like a ballerina, Jenna was much more methodic in her methods. Using the methods of Judo-Jiu-Jitsu, she utilized the enemy's momentum against themselves. Her goal was not to harm the Bajoran people. Her method instead caused them to injure themselves guided by her assistance.

A man ran at her with a long stick as if he were trying to club her to death. She ran forward, slipped left, and forced the stick down into the ground. His momentum catapulted him up and over, landing him hard into the cold ground.

Zio ran like a combination of her companions, with much more caution to her character. Her weapon of choice normally would have been a rifle with a scope, but need called for someone with hand-to-hand combat experience. She marched forward taking one enemy at a time, using whatever weapon she could find. She went from a mace to a spear to a rock, all while wanting for a good phaser in her hand.

The villagers and Kira moved in on cue, taking advantage of the melee to press their advantage. Kira had holstered her phaser in the early hours of the fight, switching for a long knife she had relieved one of the thugs of earlier. It was rudimentary and she doubted it was even sharp but it would have to do until she could find something better. She ducked and weaved, bludgeoned and slashed anyone wearing the red armbands of the Brotherhood, the colour easily discernible from a distance. The numbers were almost evenly matched now, as she worked her way towards Patin, Jenna and Zio, their end game was the cabin.

One after another fell before her as she bull horned her way through. They were reaching the end of the tree line, Patin still in the lead when a wave of red energy washed up into the air and over the land, sweeping it's way through the fighters in the forest. Patin stopped in her tracks, distracted. Unfortunately for her, her new opponent did not.

Catching the impact in her lower left abdomen she was first stunned, then pissed off. Pissed that the enemy had gotten the better of her. Pissed that she had let herself be distracted. Pissed because she was not at her friends' side where she felt she needed to be.

Reacting, She grabbed the pointed object, snapped off the stick portion, flipped it around and used it to stab her assailant who was now pleading for her mercy, the wuss. This left a sharp tip in her side, seeping blood, but more importantly it left behind a more fierce determination to reach their goal line.

Jenna stopped at her side, noticing she had stopped, "You okay?" She asked with real concern.

Patin was checking her pockets, almost all were now empty. She found the quick set spray and quickly sprayed her open wound, not knowing how deep it went. "Yeah, I'm fine." She lied. "Just checking for..." She then pulled a group of stun grenades, the size of small marbles out of her vest pocket. "A little fire power."

Using her other arm she began tossing the grenades which exploded on impact at the feet of multiple Bajorans, Brotherhood or otherwise. They fell to the ground in droves of four or five per grenade impact, where they stayed, stunned. Patin, without looking at Jenna, not wanting her to see the pain in her face, added, "Needed to clear a path. Now, let's go."

Within minutes their path had allowed them to traverse the forest and for the first time the Cabin by the water was within sight.

It was at that moment that Kira's villagers swarmed forward en'mass, engaging the remaining Brotherhood and trying to overwhelm them before they could reach the cabin.
