Mission: Halloween
Location: Officer's Conference Room
Timeline: Current-ish

Hearing the call for an Officer's Meeting in the Conference Room. Savar left his and Aurora's quarters heading for the Conference Room. Upon entering, he was mildly surprised to find himself the first one here. Not even Bonnie was here which did surprise him given her customary talent for lack of punctuality. It seemed some things remained true to form. He took his customary seat and waited for the others to arrive. As he waited, he made mental bets with himself on who the next arrival would be. Would it be Bonnie? Or would it be Rhenora? He had not spoken with her since their rescue. He knew she needed to recover and at least she had Remal there with her and no doubt Patin had dropped by as well. He had Aurora and that was fine. His mind continued the guessing game. Would it be Ronson with Rhenora's ever-present pot of coffee and a kettle of tea for himself? Perhaps it would be Aurora? He had left their quarters while she was having issues with her stomach. Those seemed to be happening with more regularity. Or would it be Commander House? The mastermind behind the plan to rescue them? Perhaps it would be some wild card officer. He didn't know, so he sat and waited.

Apparently considering that Mister Vulcan had gone through all of the main suspects, then he'd end up winning his own bet one way or another. It would be Dean, however, who showed up next. He didn't say a word so far, moving to get something in a mug from the replicator. Moving over to behind his chair. "How are you doing, Commander?"

Savar gave a slight nod of his head, "I am..." He paused, what was he? Was he functional? He felt like he was. Aurora hadn't voiced any concerns nor had Sarah. So he settled on the best answer. "I am well Commander, thank you for inquiring. I do appreciate it."

Kitiuas hurried to the conference room, feeling nauseous from the injections of the Deltan medication to help diminish her pheromonal effects, she was back to square one with the injections 50 cc three times a day for the next three months. The price she paid for having been off them and being around other Orion's for as long as she had. She entered the conference room with a PaDD in hand, knowing her pheromones were wafting off her: cinnamon and vanilla. She saw Commander Savar and Commander House were already present. She nodded and said "Sirs" as she moved to the back of the conference room near one of the outgoing vents, to help with her pheromones.

Dean nodded a little to Savar, "You're welcome. What about the others? I know they are tired of being asked." Giving a glance when Kitiuas came in. Pausing a moment, then giving another sniff to be sure, looking down at his cup, then up again. "Now, I want vanilla ice cream."

Captain Kaylen strode into the conference room, tailed by Ronson carrying a small stack of padds. She nodded to those present then settled into the chair at the head of the table, eager to get off her aching feet. Ronson disappeared for a minute and returned with a coffee, offering tea to Savar and beverages to those who were present. She smiled at the hard-working Yeoman. He really had come a heck of a long way since he had been on board. A cursory look over Savar told her he was well, Aurora had yet to arrive although she was sure the counselor had received her clearance both medically and physically.

"Aurora is well. She has been cleared to return to duty and should be joining us shortly." He looked up as Rhenora walked into the room and took her customary seat at the head of the table. He nodded his head at her glance and though his face remained impassive his eyes reflected relief that she was well.

Score walked in, She had not slept at all last night. Her Symbiote acted up a bit, So she had spent the night in the Holodeck Training. She took her seat and waited.

Aurora was next through the door though she looked somewhat off-color, she offered a nod and a smile to all present as she walked around to sit down next to Savar. Resting in her seat she avoided the beverages that Ronson had prepared, her stomach was doing somersaults thanks to morning sickness finally setting in. She pulled out a small food bag containing some ginger biscuits, hoping a nibble on those would help.

Bonnie's morning had been a rough one. Her normally bouncy curls had decided on their own to be a big ball of frizz spreading in all directions. She had spent an hour trying to get it right before working in engineering assessing the transwarp drive compensator she had lovingly dubbed Butch because it sounded similar to her favorite frustration word for the damn thing.

When she heard the call to go to the conference room, she headed back to her quarters and showered only to have her hair puff out into a large puff ball once again. And it was only a sonic shower. With the filth gone, there were only minutes left before the meeting started, so she ran. Data PADD in hand to the conference room where as the doors parted, she entered. Badge upside down, dark puffy eyes and a bouncy afro resting on top of her head. She looked around and found a seat as far away from the Captain as she thought she could get and continued counting the minutes until this day was over.

The Sunfire's Andorian CHENG entered shortly after Bonnie with a stack of various engineering status reports in one arm, and a warm cup of Andorian coffee in the other. As usual, Kla'ren nodded to everyone present before finding the next empty chair and setting his coffee and reports down on the table in front of him.

Dean watched the rest file in, hovering eyes on Bonnie for a moment. Also back to Kitiuas, he could still faintly smell the 'vanilla.' Turning his attention to Nora.

The Captain looked around the gathered officers and noted everyone was present.

"Firstly I would like to welcome our newest officers to the Sunfire. 1st Lt Score and Lt Serine welcome aboard and welcome to your first mission with us." She inclined her head towards the two new officers.

"Thank You Captain" Score replied.

Aurora offered a warm smile to both Score and Serine, she would be catching up with them both for evaluations when she had time.

Score nodded back at Aurora.

"Now onto mission business, we have detected an energy signature coming from a nearby planet that is supposed to be uninhabited." The Captain rose and headed towards the wall-sized monitor, activating it and displaying a star chart and their position relative to the energy signature.

"Why would Starfleet bother us with looking into that? It could be any number of phenomena geared for a Science vessel. Unless there are energy signals of, say, a ship. Even then, they know by now what's happened, we should be getting light patrols where we never run into anything for about a month." Dean's eyes shifted between all of those gathered.

"Maybe Starfleet sees it as a threat?" Thriss looked at Dean and then the others as well. "If it was caused by another ship, are we near any factions or species that could cause anything like this in this sector of space?" He added.

“Maybe it’s simple curiosity?” Aurora offered up. “We are supposed to be explorers, and this could be something worth exploring.”

"Agreed" Score replied in Agreement with Aurora

Bonnie silently agreed with Aurora, though the idea of a single castle on a hill when the rest of civilization had long since passed away did not bode well. "There are many castle structures on Earth that have survived for centuries and world wars, but this one seems, um, abnormal.?"

"Maybe something's been keeping it safe from the elements That is Fascinated by them?" Score suggested

"Something, or someone?" Bonnie added.

"This region is largely uninhabited. The planet in question is known as 'Bazza 1', and was previously noted to be uninhabited with evidence of a now extinct pre-warp civilization." The Captain referred to her notes and brought up some very old blurry images from the last survey mission over a hundred years ago.

Dean leaned forward a little bit, "Is that a castle? Well I mean, the constructural age, being Middle Ages Earth."

Ensign Thenis was listening as intently as she could and fighting back the nausea she was feeling at the same time. Her ears perked up a bit at the mention of Bazza 1. There was a slight niggling at the back of her brain. She quickly typed a few commands into her PaDD. There it was; a contrasting blip on the original survey that showed a slight variation between the insect life, plant life, and other zoological elements. Also, there was an abnormality in the soil sample showing a mix of high pollutants to a renewed source of nutrients. She then scrolled through the findings on the extinct pre-warp civilization; a curious fact came up: the castle-like structure remained untouched by the environment and was also far older than the existing ruins.

“Captain, I believe Starfleet is wise in sending us to investigate. The aforementioned ‘castle’ predates the ruins of the pre-warp civilization, and the society appears to have been killed off with high pollutants. Zoological and Botanical life is altered radically from other samples. It would appear the original survey ship missed a lot about this planet.”

"Not surprising since the last and only survey was over one hundred years ago and noted two words "nothing remarkable" followed by said images and comments about an extinct pre-warp culture. It seems no one else has been bothered with this planet either." The Captain mused before returning her attention to the assembled officers. "The energy readings are coming from this 'castle' let's just call it that, which indicates some form of life despite the planet being marked as uninhabited. We're going to investigate. "

"First up, atmospheric scans to ensure it's safe to beam down, along with high-level flora and fauna sensor data. If that all comes back clear we'll send down some landing parties to investigate"

Kit looked back up "May I recommend the use of a Class-7 probe? It has the advantage of stealth material on its hull and a low-yield molecular detonation packet linked to the passive sensor array to prevent anyone not authorized from accessing it."

"A wise precaution, there's obviously something or someone generating this energy signature. We can assume that it is reasonably advanced given the nature of the energy." Rhenora continued feeling fascinated by the blurry image of the castle. "There's nothing like a little mystery to get everyone involved and working together, there will be two landing parties. Commander Savar will lead one, Commander House will lead the second. Pick your teams, but I would like Dr Wilson, Patin, and Ronson involved."

Ronson looked like he was torn between being ecstatic and terrified. "Ahhh yes Ma'am"

Aurora looked towards Savar and House. “I’d like to volunteer to go if it’s deemed safe for me to do so. My senses might come in useful.”

Kit spoke up "Include me in one of the teams. With my training, I can definitely cross-reference information with the ship's library faster than most of the crew."

Considering what had gone on, Dean hadn't said anything yet. He wanted to see which individuals would voice up with a preference or not. Be it out of knowing who longer, or trust or shyness to speak up. There were a number of things he was looking at carefully from them.

"All right then, if the probe data comes back positive for a landing party, you'll leave at 1400 hours tomorrow. Until then ready and launch the probe as soon as possible. All stations to maintain readiness until we figure out what's going on here" The Captain stood from the table.

Aurora stood ready to depart, nodding to Rhenora before waiting for Savar to walk out with her.

"I would like Commander Vali, Dr. Wilson, and Chief Mitchell to make up my away team," Savar spoke as he rose to walk out with Aurora.

"You know," Dean said before Savar and Aurora could leave. "Why don't we switch it up. Vali and Wilson, Score, Serine come with me. Patin, Thenis, Leone, Mitchell, with you. Should be a relatively easy mission. Little team-building, specially for those that haven't really worked together that often to get to do so."

Rhenora paused as a silence descended across the room. "I agree there Commander House, it's a good opportunity for everyone to work with someone new." She nodded towards Savar and House. "Let's do it"

Score nodded, Pushing a string of blond hair out of the way.

Aurora wasn’t sure Savar would like that, but she nodded in agreement.

Savar didn't like it and bristled at the rebuke. "I am not opposed to working with others, I am opposed to Aurora not being with me as I was asked to pick my away team." He said stiffly.

Dean shrugged a little bit, "Plans change, Commander."
