Away Team

Posted on Sun Jun 26th, 2022 @ 1:20pm by Lieutenant Commander Bonnie "Bon-Bon" Durnell & Captain Rhenora Kaylen & Commander Savar cha'Salik hei-Surak Talek-sen-deen & Lieutenant Commander Thriss Kla'ren & Lieutenant Ashlesha 4827/A & Lieutenant Anna S. Thesia M.D. & Lieutenant Commander Aurora Vali & Lieutenant Jessica Holland

Mission: New Harrington
Location: Orbital Weather Station Alpha
Timeline: Current

After notifying the other members of the away team. Savar left the bridge and headed to the armory where he picked up a phaser. He did not know if one would be needed but better to have one and not need it than to need one and be without. That done he headed to transporter room 1 to await the other members of the away team, where they then could transport down to the weather station.

Aurora had departed the bridge with Savar, stopping off at her Office enroute to check she didn’t have any appointments that would require re-organising.

Ashlesha thought wryly that perhaps she should have kept her mouth shut instead of volunteering for this mission. She was not exactly crazy about her selves spread out across large distances: theory was she could survive being light years apart...but she was not at all eager to test that theory.

Violet entered the transporter room, then checked her phaser and tricorder and gave the Commander a nod before stepping onto the platform. The smile on her face was tight as she wondered what awaited them...

Walking into the transporter room Aurora nodded politely to the others, she was hoping they weren’t going to walk into trouble, but no doubt they’d soon find out.

Ashlesha had seen the counselor at the staff meeting but hadn't been properly introduced yet. She gave the lieutenant a polite nod in return.

Armed with her tricorder, her computer tool-kit, and her wits, Bonnie walked into the transporter and stepped up onto the pad without looking at who all was there. She didn't want them to break her nerve as she prepared to head into the unknown. After a moment's pause, she let out her held breath and took a moment to look at everyone who would be joining the party.

Ashlesha had met all the engineering staff at least briefly but it was still difficult to recall names. She caught the lieutenant's eye and placed a hand on her own phaser.

"Ah...did you forget something?" she murmured quietly, not eager to upset or embarrass the engineer.

Bonnie looked to where Ashlesha, one of them anyway, had motioned to the phaser on her hip. She then gave the concerned party and awkward heh, "I'm not really allowed to carry a phaser yet." Then she whispered, "haven't really passed training. Last time I uh, shot my trainer and put a hole through the bulkhead, so..." She tapped upon her kit, "this is my weapon."

"...What?" Ashlesha unconsciously took a step back as if the engineer herself was dangerous. She was about to ask if Bonnie was joking, when-

Thriss entered the transporter room in a little bit of a rush. He was wearing an engineering utility belt with the tools he would need for any repairs he would need to make. This also included his tricorder and phaser, which was set to stun. He nodded to everyone already assembled in the room.

"Bridge to Transporter room 1. We have locked on to the orbital weather station in what we believe to be the control room. Co-ordinates should be with the transporter chief now. Good luck, find some answers" The Captain's voice echoed through the comm system in the transporter room.

It always felt a touch strange, Ashlesha thought, to hear someone's voice from two different vantage points. In this case on the bridge itself where the captain was, and here in the transporter room.

"Aye Captain. we shall endeavor to find answers and a solution." Savar replied as he waited for the final members of the away team to arrive.

Aurora smiled as she looked at her husband, she hadn’t been expecting to go on any away teams especially one this risky. The had no idea what they were walking into.

Savar returned Aurora's smile. He was glad to have her on the away team. her ability to sense and feel emotions could be a huge asset to the way team as a whole and him personally.

Ashlesha Violet took note of the pair and her eyebrows rose a fraction. A hundred questions formed in her head and she was about to whisper to Bonnie or Thriss...and then she remembered the sensitivity of Vulcan ears...

"Coordinates received, beaming the away team now Ma'am" the transporter tech announced as the team assembled on the transporter pad. "Good luck team"

They vanished in a blue shimmer, to reappear on the orbital weather platform. As the team materialised the shields came up on the weather station, trapping the team.

“What in the hell?!” Aurora looked around from where the away team were standing. “I can’t say I like this one little bit!”

"I quite agree Aurora. Lt. Ashlesha, Lt. Durnell, find out what caused the shields to come up and more importantly, get them back down." Savar ordered.

Aurora looked towards Savar. “I’m sensing...something. I can’t be sure exactly what, I can’t get a clear sense! Which is unusual in itself.”

"Most peculiar. Keep trying Aurora to see if you can get anything more definite." Savar replied.

Aurora nodded. “I will, I’ll let you know if anything changes.”

"Very good. Thank you Aurora." Savar answered, his eyes sweeping their surroundings for anything out of the ordinary.

Ashlesha suppressed and urge to immediately go for her phaser. Nodding, she headed for the nearest control panel to determine what function it was configured for. If it had anything to do with the shields she would see about deactivating them. All the while she wondered about the "feeling" Aurora was experiencing. Just who was here with them on this station?

Stunned by the sudden shift in tension Bonnie took her orders and ran with them. The lights flickered in the operations section, a place where one or two people could actively watch for any developing storms, or just sit and run code. It was difficult to get a read on what had actually happened here. At least there were no dead bodies, which was her first expectation after hearing that three prior teams had been sent over.

She sat down, opened up her kit and set to work. The Comms were open when they had arrived and Ensign Thenis had mentioned something about a chunk of data corruption and it attempting to reach out to the Sunfire. But then the data stream was cut off along with their communications. Bonnie cracked her knuckles and set to work with her tricorder. She plugged a cable into the console from her kit, pressed a few buttons, then looked towards Ashlesha and smiled. "This is where my fun begins." One last button and the lights throughout the orbital array all dimmed briefly before coming back on full force. It was a start.
