Mission: For Bajor!
Location: DS9

The USS Sunfire slid effortlessly towards the docking pylon arched high above the central core of the space station.

" DS9 has cleared us to dock, Captain Kira has requested a briefing on the repairs" Ops reported.

" Tell the Captain I'll be there in 10. After we complete docking procedures, you have your leave rotations. Enjoy your time off" there was a seriousness in the Captain's tone that wasn't there previously. She made eye contact with her senior staff and nodded to them, leaving those watching idley confused. Wasn't shore leave supposed to be happy and joyful?

Aurora looked towards Savar, they had purposely made arrangements to be on the surface enjoying their ‘time off’ with daughter N’Vea. They would be meeting up at Rhenora’s cottage as arranged.

Savar's outward appearance was as it always appeared, the stoic Vulcan however meeting Aurora's look, he gave an imperceptible nod. Arrangements had already been made all that remained was for Aurora, himself and N'Vea to transport to the surface for their shore leave.

Kitiuas Quarters

Kitiuas again fussed over Astraea; she was extremely reluctant to leave her but she knew Kasso would see after her. “She should have plenty of milk, I think I expressed every ounce I had. She has plenty of clothing and her toys. Ensure mom and dad do not spoil her to much, and for the Thousand Gods make sure mother doesn’t try her on Orion infant foods. I am not sure she is ready for that.” Kit said to her sister as she handed over the most precious thing in the universe se had to her sister.

Kasso laughed “Don’t worry sis. Mom and dad will be delighted to see her and me. Very disappointed though that you had to attend that science symposium on Bajor. By the Thousand, a symposium on the effects of insects and arachnids on the Federation food supply and how to reduce cross contamination. Seriously sis, do you have to attend this symposium, I mean its your leave that Starfleet is making you miss?”

Kit smiled, internally grateful her sister had bought about why she couldn’t see their parents. “I am one of the premier Entomologists and Arachnologists, as well as Cryptozoologists and Hominologists in Starfleet, and most likely the Federation, hence the reason I must attend. Now move along before I change my mind and keep Astraea with me.”

Kasso sighed, and she moved along, prodded by her sister. For Kit her mind was already on the shuttle she had to catch to Bajor and her meeting with the rest of the crew on Bajor at the captain’s cabin.

Her's was a sense of duality. Jenna, after the meeting had returned to her quarters to shower and dress. She was not planning on 'down-time' per se', nor was she enthusiastic about potentially violating Starfleet orders. As the water washed over her, her frustration mounted. The Captain had not directly answered her question, leaving an air of ambiguity hanging over the situation. Were they forbidden from helping Bajor or not?

She had already vowed to be by her Captain's side through thick or thin. She was also honor bound considering her parole period was still in effect and Rhenora was technically her keeper. Then there was the Commodore, always there, always watching. She turned off the water with a sense of finality. What she needed was a private discussion with a friend.

On the bridge, Bonnie was going over the Bajoran system scans, but her mind was somehere else. The advert she had seen coupled with the idea of shore leave had her considering taking up an archeological dig for fun, like she used to experience with her Papa. She was so young then, but he had made it seem like a camping trip.

The drought on Bajor was odd, abnormal, and difficult to understand cause let alone come up with a solution. At least without more details which they were severely lacking at the current moment. She also had not made up her mind as to whether or not she would join the Captain in their cabin, though it sounded nice, she knew it would involve more than a casual trip, considering the Captain's propensity for chaos.

Deep Space Nine Commanders Office

10 minutes later, Captain Kaylen strode into the heart of DS9. A few faces had changed since they were here last, but she recognised many of them.

"Welcome back Captain" one of the senior officers smiled as Rhenora ascended the stairs towards Kira's office. She could hear muffled voices from inside. Who was already in there?

Pressing the chime, she awaited entry.

The doors slid open to reveal that Captain Kira was indeed discussing matters with someone within the room, an officer wearing the red of strategic operations. From the side profile, Rhenora surmised this was the officer who had been assigned to the Sunfire for this particular endeavour. Was he Bajors' only hope? Could she trust an officer she had only just met?

"Lt Ngaza I presume" she announced her presence, nodding to Kira as she did so.

Dean may have been just a few steps behind them. "Sorry, little late, I had to stop and look at something real quick. It's nice to see you again Kira."

"Commander House, pleasure as always" Kira extended a hand and allowed the doors to close behind them. She turned to Rhenora. "I know what you're trying to do here, and I'll give you as much as I can, which isn't much."

What handshake? They knew each other better than that. Giving her a hug and then getting in line with the other two. Dean smiling warmly to Kira. Setting a straight, and serious face on now as Kira moved back around the desk to sit. Noticing that Captain Sisko's baseball was still on said desk.

Kira smirked and looked up from the desk. "You're gonna have to be careful Rhen..." Kira warned, her eyes flicking from her friend to Dean and back again. " we also have...concerns here on DS9. Minor things at the moment. Systems going offline at odd times, we may need some assistance in getting it sorted. Fresh set of eyes, that sort of thing"

"Did O'Brien check the outages and what interval they happen as well as which junctions at the time of the outages? Potentially someone logging into a console without authorization?" Dean asked.

"We've done all of that, and come up empty. From the outside it just looks like random malfunctions, but my gut tells me there's more to it. I'd appreciate a small team of your personnel remaining here on the station as...another perspective." Kira's words were chosen carefully as she addressed both Dean and Rhenora.

"I understand, I'm taking 4 officers down to Bajor to investigate the situation there, I'll instruct the rest of my senior staff to oversee the repairs and provide assistance to your teams here on DS9 as required" Kaylen clarified, filling in all of the blanks.

"I can stick around I suppose," Dean said.

"This is not cancelled leave, let's call it postponed leave" Rhenora added as she nodded to Kira. "I fear there are bigger things at play than either of us know about." Just as the words left her mouth an alarm sounded.

"Captian, we've lost artificial gravity in the docking ring" the DS9 Ops team reported "Engineering are attempting to compensate"

Rhenora turned to Dean and then back to Kira "Looks like you'll have your work cut out for you. I'll see you in a week" She rose and headed out of the office, letting Kira and Dean talk tactics whilst she put in one more stop before heading down to the planet.
