Character Development
Location: Ready Room-Deck 1
Timeline: Current
Aubrie wanted to talk to the Captain, Not only to meet, But get some advice, She probably wasn't gonna get any, but still had to try.
Captain Kaylen Rhenora was indeed in her ready room, finalising a few things before heading down to Bajor for some much needed rest and relaxation. The majority of the crew had already departed so she was a little startled when the door chime rang.
"Come in" She called and looked up to see who it was.
The Ensign walked in and stood ready even though Aubrie had asked for this meeting.
The Captain looked over and motioned to the vacant chair opposite her in front of the desk.
"Please Ensign, take a seat." She started, and continued once the ensign had done so. "What can I do for you?" She asked.
Aubrie expressed her desire to seek some guidance or recommendations from someone knowledgeable or experienced in a particular matter. She politely stated, "I wanted to ask for some advice," indicating that she was seeking assistance or suggestions to help her make a decision or solve a problem.
"Of course, please, let me hear what's on your mind and I'll see what I can do to help" The Captain replied with a gentle smile. She remembered those early days herself where everything seemed new and foreign.
"Captain, I don't Feel Like I fit in, Even through I just joined, I don't feel right, at first I was ready for this, but now I am here far from..Home, It feels all wrong.."
Rhenora's expression softened at the words, her tone becoming more of a mentor and friend than that of a commanding officer.
"I'm sorry you feel that way, is this your first time in deep space away from your friends and family?" She asked with genuine concern.
Aubrie spoke in a melancholic tone, "Ever since I was a child, I've always dreamed of being out here, away from the mundane and ordinary. I craved the freedom and adventure that the outside world had to offer. But now that I've finally made it, I can't help but feel a sense of doubt. Is this truly what I wanted? Have I made the right decision?" Her once spark-filled eyes now seemed to lack their usual luster, and her shoulders sagged with the weight of her uncertainty.
"You haven't been on board for long, and I just admit out last mission was a bit of a doozy" The Captain started with a wry smile. "You could give it another mission just to see if your gut feel remains the same, and in the meantime enjoy some free time on the station or Bajor" there was a hint of a motherly tone in her voice. She always felt responsible when one of the crew were struggling.
"Thank you so much, Captain. You have..Been very helpful," Aubrie replied with gratitude.
Rhenora sensed that the young woman's troubles hadn't been completely alleviated but decided not to push any further. "My door is always open Ensign. Anytime you need to talk, about anything at all"
"Once more thank you Captain, Now one last question, Is there any other Trill onboard?"
"I believe there are one or two, we do have quite the mix on board, and I believe Captain Dax is still attached to the station whilst serving on the Aventine" Rhenora explained kindly.
"I will look around...And figure something out..anything else?" Aubrie asked.
"Only take your time, and keep an open mind. Your gut will let you know if you're in the right place, your heart will tell you where you need to go, and your mind is just along for the ride" the Captain paraphrased an old Bajoran proverb she half remembered.
"Thank you captain." She then rose and left
