Captain Kaylen Rhenora headed back to her quarters as the Deep Space 9 engineering crews replaced the Sunfire's bridge crew. She had requisitioned some downtime for the crew but there would be a handful of them left on board on a rotating roster to ensure any questions the engineers had would be answered.

Thankfully her quarters weren't too badly damaged in the plasma waves and had been unable during their trip back to the star base.

Thumbing the door control she headed to her desk via the replicator for coffee, kicking off her heeled boots the instant she sat down. The additional weight she was carrying was telling on her joints and her feet ached constantly. Removing her footwear at every opportunity was the only relief.

“Computer, display list of unread messages and communications” she requested with a hint of trepidation.

“You have 237 unread messages” the computer intoned without hint of emotion. Rhenora groaned audibly, closing her eyes for an instant as if it would make them go away. When she opened them the messages were still there.

“Computer, prioritise messages and display the first” she settled in for the long haul, taking a long drag of coffee to kick start her brain.

Rhenora's eyes glazed, after the first line and she decided that perhaps some rest was in order before catching up on unread messages. Finishing her coffee in short order she went to find Remal to organise their trip down to Bajor.
