Making moves

Mission:
Character Development
Location: DS9
Many found Deep Space 9 a fascinating place, a relic from a brutal occupation turned Starfleet star base, DS9 was a melting pot of many different cultures. Cardassian in design it guarded the worm hole and thus housed many Bajorans due to its proximity to both Bajor and their beloved Celestial Temple. None of this was of consequence to one of the stations visitors, who stepped off a cramped deep space science vessel through the cog shaped airlocks.
“Good they're not here yet” Commander Jennifer Baldric commented to herself as she headed for her assigned temporary quarters until the Sunfire arrived. She was pondering how she was going to approach the woman she planned on replacing. A direct confrontation was out of the question and would only result in a return to earth with her tail between her legs. No, a certain level of decorum was required, a friendly familiarity, an expression of help and caring. Yes indeed, she was here to ease the load, to smooth the transition and to allow rest.
Entering her temporary quarters Baldric tossed her duffel on the impeccably made bed and headed for the workstation, pulling up a starchart to identify the Sunfire's current location. To her surprise they were heading towards Deep Space 9 at low warp and would arrive in approximately 9 hours. It would take another 6-12 hours for the ship to empty out and the repair crews to move in. It was during that time that Baldric would make her move. Her arrival had been denoted in a regular personnel transfer communication from Admiral Clarkson, one that she was sure Kaylen would overlook at least for a few days. The look on the older woman's face would be one Baldric thought she would remember for the rest of her days.
Turning off the monitor Jen set an alarm for 8 hours time and headed for the bedroom to catch up on some sleep before the ship got in. She would still have time for some last minute preparation before boarding and her ‘meeting’ with the Captain.
