Boom Pow Revenge Wow

Posted on Fri Oct 6th, 2023 @ 12:31am by Remal Kajun & Patin & Captain Rhenora Kaylen & Lieutenant Sarah Wilson

Mission: Repairs and Retribution
Location: Kunar Mining Camp
Timeline: Current

Practically running forward with little care, Patin was daring the others to keep up as much as she was daring the guards to spot her by giving them a clear shot. Her first target appeared to be a loading gate for prisoners or supplies. Somewhere, where goods are taken in and out of the compound. There she stopped and listened and assessed the structure to see which of her explosives would work best.

It occurred to her that since the power was out the locks may have failed, so she casually reached out and pressed the manual release. The door slid open and she cursed her luck, "Well where's the fun in that?" She asked out loud before peering through the opening for any soldiers, guards, bodies, or otherwise.

"I'll take whatever advantage we can get" Sarah grumbled as they headed towards the underground. It was still uncomfortably hot even out of the direct sun and the doctor wondered how anyone could survive in this and work in the mine at the same time. She already started cataloging a list of medical complications she may encounter after their officers had spent a week in this hell hole. Heat stress, dehydration, malnutrition... the list went on before you even added any physical abuse they may have endured. Eyes on her tricorder she scanned for Bajoran life signs.

Vala stayed close, keeping an eye on the Gallicite-fueled scan. "I have a tentative route forward." He pointed down along a corridor. "Lots of Cardassian life signs along the way." He grasped the phaser rifle tightly.

Sarah stopped at looked at Vala's tricorders, trying to memorize the route they would take in case they got separated. "Looks relatively simple, apart from the thirty-odd Cardassians in between us and them". She knew that there was a high probability that she would be forced to fight for her life, and for those of her friends. She was a Starfleet officer first, doctor second, and this sadly enough, was its own mini-war.

Patin searched her pockets for an idea, "Long straight corridor, how many would you say there are and how long?" She was looking at Vala ever so briefly as she pulled a handful of round pellets from one of her pockets. They were loaded with a type of gas that would disorient its victim for several minutes causing their eyes to become irritated and blurry. All she had to do was roll them down the hall at varying lengths which required a younger arm, unfortunately.

Sarah remained quiet whilst the two sorted out their tactical arsenal, checking her tricorders and trying to get a reading on their two senior officers. For the smallest of instances, she thought she saw something in an open shuttle bay to their 11 o'clock but it was gone before she could confirm.

Scrutinised the readings. There was still a little distortion, he assumed from the parts of the base that remained shielded. "Long and straight, then it gets a little more complicated. Cardassians are running about - I assume reacting to whatever sort of strife is going on right now." He pointed again in the direction of the friendly life signs. "There's about five Cardassians in the next corridor, then a lot more beyond. I will try to update as we progress."

"Long and straight it is then" Sarah nodded, slipped her tricorders into its holder, and swapped it for her weapon. Things were about to get very real.

As they descended down the long and straight corridor, weapons fire could. E heard up ahead, along with shouts, screams, and the sounds of general fighting. Out of nowhere a stray energy beam lanced towards them causing them all to duck.

Nodding at the information, Patin grabbed a handful of her gas pellets and moved over to the hallway entrance boldly. "Hiya fellas." This garnered their attention pretty quickly. "Would you mind holding something for me?" She asked innocently before rolling the pellets down the length of the hall.

Their focus was now shifted to what it was she had thrown. As each pellet stopped rolling, each beeped twice and then began spraying outward a blueish-green gas, filling the room quickly. Patin saw Sarah appear next to her with her rifle drawn and held out her hand. "Not yet, you might ignite it. I mean unless you want to. Give it a minute to disappate and for the love of peet, don't inhale."

Sarah's eyes widened at the scene before her, her morality struggling against the need to rescue their people. "That's just tear gas though, right? She almost didn't want to know the real answer to her own question

Patin just shrugged her shoulders knowing damn well the contents were not your average pepper spray. In truth it was a combination of gland excretions and venoms she had been mixing together until she found just the right one for Cardassian biology. And it all started with a Skitter, or rather the excretion glands of one. Skitters were akin to what humans called a Skunk, in size and relative shape. Needless to say, she had gone weeks without human contact while she was experimenting.

The Cardassians who had inhaled the fumes began clutching at their eyes, rubbing and wailing about how it burned. A few of them were even grasping at their throats as if they couldn't breathe. Even from a distance, one could see spots begin to form on the skin. And then the gas disappeared and a smile appeared on Patin's face. "You may fire if you wish. You'd be doing them a favor."

Sarah gulped as they pushed forward, still struggling with the duality of the situation. She pushed her feelings aside and followed Patin and Vala, trying her best not to inhale any of the gas that lingered like a particularly potent fart.

Vala walked on, trying to avoid looking at the scene. He put each of the Cardassians out of their misery as he moved past. This didn't feel very 'Starfleet'.

Suddenly the ground shook and a mighty fireball shot into the air at their 11 o'clock. Patin took note, "Nozzie." She whispered aloud. Then she focused forward, "Alright, new plan, keep your head down and keep up." Without another word, she barreled through the staggering soldiers like a rugby player. One after another fell over and against the wall, but she kept running. No map, no fear, no backup, she not only held the element of surprise, she was the surprise.

Rounding the corner she entered what looked like a large house. She was greeted by three stunned-looking guards. She fired on the first, and as his body crumpled over, she used it as a springboard to jump feet first into the second. As she landed with a tuck and roll she fired another round into the third, dropping him as well. And then she was off full-tilt toward the upper levels where she was sure to find Rhenora.

Vala watched slightly slack-jawed. He didn't approve of her methods but he had to admit she was efficient. He followed on, glancing at his tricorder periodically.

Sarah locked eyes with Vala before taking off behind Patin, wondering how she had decided that the explosion had been caused by their missing Captain. "I have a feeling things are about to get interesting" she puffed as she ran, trying to keep her footing over the fallen guards that Patin left strewn on her wake.

Woman on a mission, she made it up two flights of stairs, without encountering any resistance. Ahead of her, when she reached the landing, four armed guards were moving towards a tunnel which Patin surmised led to the shuttle pad. They were moving slowly as if they had the drop on someone.

Patin pulled a flash-bang from her pocket and tossed it at their feet, then covered her eyes. It landed with a tink, then a loud pop. Blinded suddenly the soldiers staggered around. Meanwhile Patin charged forward. Her foot landed in the back of the kneecap of the first, while her knife disappeared into the neck of the second. She grabbed the last two by their uniform fronts and pulled their heads down into one another, knocking them out. Lastly she turned around and fired a shot at the last one as he knelt helpless and in pain. Once her breath caught up with her, she turned and moved down the tunnel corridor.

~SNIP~ Patin had made it down the corridor leading to the shuttle landing pad and was watching from the darkness within. From her vantage, she could see Nozzie's backside and a fallen Remal. She could see the Mrs standing alone against the backdrop of a shuttle and on either side of her framed by fire-damaged crates. She raised her rifle and realized she had a clean shot but couldn't take it unless Noz gave her the okay.

She quickly analyzed the playing field and determined they needed a better playing card. Just behind Patin there was a small maintenance hatch, she motioned to Sarah and Monty to hold their position and then proceeded to climb up the tower and into the hatch. It led to a cross-section and emptied out into the control room well above the shuttle pad.

She boldly stepped up to the control console and looked down. Now she could see, the Mrs had two more pawns waiting to strike. "No, you don't." She took aim and fired. The first one fell. The second looked for where the shot came from instead of taking the time to hide better. "You're mistake." She fired again, downing the second.

She shouted out the window, "You're all clear Nozzie, now let's finish this and get the fuck outta here!"

That still left the Mrs and the Starfleet Captain squared off against each other. Neither willing to move yet both trying to regain control of the situation. Fortune now favored the Captain, their teams were obviously on this forsaken planet and were rescuing those that had been kidnapped.

"You've lost," She said simply.
