Mission:
Planet of the Dinosaurs
Location: USS Sunfire
Timeline: Day 4 Early Morning
Early morning Day 4 aboard the Sunfire
Tom had taken first watch and monitored the core (It was still operating as it should) other systems were beginning to come back online. He even checked a replicator and it seemed to be operating normally which was good news for Kit. The animals (dinosaurs) also seemed to be staying away from the Sunfire as the ship became more alive. Perhaps the hum or vibrations from the core irritated them. Whatever the reason, they stayed away. Not that he was complaining. He made a final check everything was as it should be and he settled into a chair and thought of Alison and Amanda and prayed they were safe.
As dawn broke, the rest of the team emerged, they'd all taken a watch and were feeling the effects of a very tough few days coupled with broken sleep. That being said they had achieved a phenomenal amount of work in getting the Sunfire operational again.
"How goes it boss?" Ronson asked as he checked the coffee supply and brewed several cups worth.
Tom looked around at the others as Ronson asked his question. "Don't think there is a boss per se Ronson just four people working as a team, united in their effort and desire to get a job done." He replied with a smile.
"Yeah, and you're the most senior, that makes you boss" Ronson quipped in good nature, offering Tom a mug of coffee.
Tom laughed in good humor at Ronson's quip as he reached for a mug of coffee. "Much obliged for the coffee Ronson and you keep talking like that you'll be an officer in no time."
Kit woke with a throbbing headache, just great, know what is causing this, not enough sleep and water.she thought she sat up and stretched out in a very sensual manner. She then got up and went to her Orion cookpot and began to heat up something for breakfast. She was concerned about her right shoulder and arm, she was getting severe tingling sensations in the region and was beginning to have issues grasping things with her right hand. She gritted her teeth and pushed through the sensations.
Ronson headed back down to the common area with coffee for everyone and noticed Kit's discomfort. "Something's telling me it's not a good morning for you. Shoulder?" He prompted, wondering if they had enough power to transport Dr Wilson here for a better patch up job.
Kit smiled at the chief “I’m fine, just have a bad headache from dehydration. Having cinnamon oatmeal and eggs for breakfast. How do you like your eggs; you get two.” As kit was saying this she hid the pain in her arm. “So what is on the agenda for today, I wonder?”
"Scrambled and you need to rest that arm Kit." Tom spoke up from where he was sitting. "It's not going to get better with you continuing to use it." He pointed out. "I think I'll work on the Ops power distribution grid. See, I can get power to the systems that need it especially those that will get us off the ground." He looked over to Ronson, "I'm probably going to need your help Chief."
Kitiiuas could feel her anger rising, she had endured far much more physical and emotional pain than her chest and arm were presenting. “Trust me I know my physical limits; been hurt a hell of a lot worse than this.” She snapped, before catching herself. “Sorry, just been a long few days.” She quickly said, feeling extremely guilty at snapping at her fellow crewmembers. They were only showing concern for her well-being. She quickly delved into her cooking.
Tom said nothing. This made the second time he'd been snapped at when all he was trying to do was help. He needed to learn to keep his mouth shut. Doing that would hopefully stop any arguments from developing.
Kitiuas knew she had upset her fellow crewmember's and was feeling extremely guilty. She decided to offer everyone a peace offering and make up gesture. She walked over to her bag and pulled out four double shot glasses of Orion design, with the typical erotic designs favored by Orion. She then slide out a bottle with a midnight blue liquid. She carefully uncorked the bottle and poured out four double shots’ worth of liquid into each shot glass. She then recorked the bottle and stuffed it away. Turning back to her fellow crewmates and handing them each a shot glass. “A toast to our success so far, and an apology for my mood.” she stated with a warm friendly smile.
Tom raised his glass at Kit's toast. "Here, here. I'd like to offer a toast as well. Similar to Kit's "To our continued success and to the finest group of people I've ever had to work with. You are the best."
"Indeed, and a toast to getting off this rock and back into the comforts of space. If a never see another dinosaur again it'll be too soon" Ronson raised his glass.
Bonnie had made a point of stopping to get a large mug of coffee before heading to the common area where she walked in on everyone enjoying an alcoholic beverage toast before they begin work for the day. While she appreciated the comraderies, she questioned leaving herself and Thriss out of the celebration. Then she began questioning what they were actually celebrating when there was still so much work to be done. Her head was pounding, and grumbling wasn't going to do anyone any good. So, she quietly sipped her coffee as she made her way to her window seat.
Kit seen Bonnie come into the common area and immediately jumped up and walked over to her. "Cinnamon oatmeal and eggs for breakfast this morning Lieutenant. As a special bonus some well-aged Romulan Ale. How do you want your eggs?" she asked as she handed Bonnie a double shot glass of Romulan Ale. "Not enough to get you drunk, but enough to help take away the aches of our hard days of work. Have you seen Lieutenant Kla'ren?"
" I'll see if he's down in Engineering" Ronson offered, pouring himself another cup of coffee, placing a comforting hand on Bonnie's shoulder as he passed her.
"Thanks Ronnie," Bonnie commented as she felt the warmth in his touch before turning back to Kit and giving a empathetic smile. "Over easy if you please and cinnamon oatmeal sounds wonderful." She contemplated the Romulan Ale and then thought twice. "I'll skip on the Ale if you please." She held up her coffee to show she already had her drink of choice. It wasn't hot chocolate, but just as good.
“Of course.” Kit said smiling warmly “The offer of the Romulan Ale stands anytime Lieutenant; benefits of being a dual citizen, I may posses Romulan Ale. Now let me get to those eggs for you.” She said, as she turned to go away her pheromones were wafting off her ever so lightly; cinnamon, roses, and vanilla with the occasional lilac, and a new scent sandalwood.
Ronson exited the room and headed down to Engineering to find the Chief, hoping he would be able to take a few moments to enjoy a meal with the rest of them.
"If you'll excuse me." Tom spoke to Kit and Bonnie; I'm going back to the bridge to work on the Ops power grid. If I can get that repaired, we can have power all over the ship that's if all the other connections are intact. Won't know that until the grid is back up and functioning."
Bonnie watched Tom start to leave with worry on her mind. He had been spending a lot of time on the bridge alone. But more importantly his focus on the power grid concerned her more. "Lieutenant, um Tom," she stumbled as she didn't know quite how to address him. Were they friends or co workers? "Be careful. After we adjusted the power grid for the restart, there is likely going to be some holes in the grid and I would hate for you to get hurt by a loopback or something worse, okay?"
Tom turned back to face Bonnie as she called his name. A smile grew on his face as she expressed her concern for his safety. It made him feel good that someone other then Alison or Amanda was concerned for his well-being. When she finished he nodded gratefully and said with heartfelt sincerity. "Thank you Bonnie, thank you for the tip on possible power loopbacks and for your concern. I promise to be careful. You just make sure you are as careful as well. Don't want you getting hurt either."
She had no response, verbally. Instead she gave a curt double nod and an eye blink to show she understood. This, despite knowing she was a walking hazard to begin with. Only in the moments she slept did her chaotic world find peace, at least that she knew of.
Kit had heard Chief Mitchell leave and she got up and stretched, her headache was still there but the Romulan Ale had dulled it some. “So what is on the agenda today for me there, taskmaster. What critical task do you need me to help with” She again stretched her back into and arch as she said this with a soft smile, hoping Lieutenant Durnell didn’t think she was being vexatious. She really did like the young vivacious woman.
"I'm not, I mean not really, I don't come across as a task master, do I?" Bonnie sat slightly stunned until it struck her by Kits' smile that she was teasing. Returning the smile she answered, "oh, I see how it is." And then she stopped as she picked up a new scent in the air and wondered if it was emminating from Kit.
"Did you and Tom manage to put out the last of the fires? I mean, you mentioned wanting to get a replicator working, and I thought maybe we could visit sickbay and see what we can do about your medicine, but only if you're up to it?" There was so much to do and the list was in constant flux. As Bonnie looked at Kit she was just ready to roll with whatever in this moment.
Kit smiled and replied, “The major ones are out, the ship’s automated system fire suppression system, now that power is restored due to your wonderful idea, is capable of handling any small fires that break out.” She again stretched her back, she had a horrible crick in her back and wished she could use the holodeck to run her favorite message program. “So, that means Lieutenant I am at your full disposal for whatever you desire.” She said with a warm smile, her phermones seeming to gain potency.
As they were speaking Kit thought she heard a noise from the bridge. "Did you hear that? she inquired. She began making her way into the bridge looking about as she entered.
Down in Engineering, Thriss found himself half-buried in a bulkhead, trying to carefully repair an EPS conduit. He really wanted to get the Sunfire flying again and he'd do whatever it took even if it meant being late to or even missing meals. He didn't hear Ronson enter the room, however.
" Hey Thriss, you up for some grub?" Ronson spied the Chief under the EPS conduit and paused after he had spoken, wishing he'd brought an extra cup of coffee down with him. "We've cracked into the Captain's coffee stash and I thought you'd like some" He said with a smile.
Thriss had a flashlight being held in his mouth while he was trying to carefully use a plasma-torch to repair some connections that had been severed, so he waited a few moments to answer before he paused to answer Ronson. "You're damn straight I'd like some" he chuckled from the compartment. "I'd like to finish this up here first though. I really want to get the Sunfire flying again and soon."
"You and me both. I'm sick of the constant threats and danger without the excitement of exploration and discovery that is supposed to go along with it" Ronson replied, "give me 5 and I'll be back with the biggest cup of coffee I can find" he commented before hightailing back to where the others were and grabbing a large cup of coffee in a thermal mug and some breakfast for the Chief. Hopefully just hopefully they would be off this rock soon.
