Reunion Pt 1
Posted on Fri Oct 21st, 2022 @ 12:01pm by Captain Rhenora Kaylen & Lieutenant Sarah Wilson & Remal Kajun
Mission:
Planet of the Dinosaurs
Location: Sickbay
It had been far too long since Rhenora had heard from Remal. Surely he would have been located, if not alive then dead among others he would no doubt have been trying to save. The reports coming from sickbay were sketchy, and more involved numbers and outcomes rather than names and faces. Now that things were not so pressing, and sickbay were clearing the backlog of critical cases she decided to make her way down to find her husband, whether it be good news or bad. She needed to talk to Sarah personally, and thank her for her hard work and keeping those that she could alive.
It had been several minutes. No one had come to check on him. While he had remained still and tried not to speak as instructed, the pain in his chest was unsettling. Moreover it was becoming more and more difficult to breathe. Until at least he began to Weezer, a sign telling him something had changed. He raised his arm to garner attention.
It was only a moment later when a nurse, or someone acting as a nurse approached and scanned his vitals. They reached his chest and panic struck their face. "Code one. We've got a code one over here."
There were murmurs and the sound of running feet. And then voices talking quickly. "We've got to get him to sick bay."
"I think they managed to get a lift running."
"Alright, sedate him, reduce the breathing and get that hover cart over here! Get him in that lift and up to Sarah right away. If we lose the Captain's husband we'll all be on the chopping block."
He was injected unceremoniously in the neck with a hypospray and within a heartbeat later had lost all consciousness.
Two crewmen had been roped in to helping her down to sickbay, by a miracle Engineering had some of the turbolifts running slowly, otherwise the trip would have been impossible. As it was she could barely put any weight on her legs. The doors of sickbay were propped open with some debris, revealing the scene contained within. Due to the slope of the deck, Sarah was performing surgery on the floor, and it looked to be on Remal.
“ Is he…” She started as the crewman helped her move over to where the CMO was working. There was blood in his tunic, too much blood.
“ He’ll be fine… just gotta fix this….” Sarah replied, her words training off as her hands worked miracles. A few minutes later she sat back on her hunches, Remal’s blood coating her hands. “Well that fixes that little issue…. I’m assuming you’re next… or….” Sarah raised her eyebrows and wiped the blood on her already stained uniform pants as two crewman moved Remal to the side so he could recover.
“ No I…” The Captain stammered as she considered the real reason why she was here. She wanted to know Remal was alive, and more or less intact. Now that she had that information the secondaries came into play. “ I wanted to see how you were doing, and to thank you and your team for all the hard work you’ve done”
Sarah looked up for a moment as though unsure of how to react. They'd been running on adrenaline without the gift of coffee for too long just trying to keep people alive. "Ahh thanks" she stammered eventually before moving over to Remal and quickly scanning him. "He'll be fine, he'll wake up on his own in an hour. Hopefully you'll be done by then and you can nursemaid each other. Our supplies won't last forever so we're rationing what we can." Sarah advised before a new floorsheet was thrown over the spot where Remal had previously been. "Welcome to my operating theatre." There was a grandiois gesture born exhaustion and a need to blow off some steam.
Rhenora was deposited unceremoniously on her arse on the floorsheet and neatly sedated. When she woke up again it was next to her husband.
