Working with the Commodore

Posted on Sun Oct 9th, 2022 @ 4:19am by Ensign Kitiuas Thenis & Commodore S'thenosis Gorgox

Mission: Planet of the Dinosaurs
Location: Commodore's office
Timeline: Just before the explosion / crash

Ensign Kitiuas Thenis sighed and headed down the corridor and headed towards Commodore S'thenosis Gorgox's office. The Commodore scared the hell out of her, and she had to talk with her and work with her in regard to her cousin Tayshi D'hetr. She wondered how the Commodore would react when she learned her cousin was half Vulcan. She arrived outside the Commodore's office, checked her uniform, then hit the chime.

Not expecting company the Commodore looked over the upper rim of her reading glasses and paused place in her research. She had taken to reading in lower illumination in her old age, for no other reason than she enjoyed as the lights from the nacelles bounced off of her treasured law library within. She lay her PADD upside down on the desk, crossed her hands in front of her and spoke in a commanding tone, "Enter."

Ensign Kitiuas Thenis stepped into Commodore S'thenosis Gorgox office feels like the preverbal prey entering the predator’s dean she thought as she walked to three paces from the Commodores desk. “Ensign Kitiuas Thenis, Sir. I was informed during our briefing by Captain Kaylen that I was to work with you in regards to the Cardassian situation. I offered to contact my cousin Tayshi D’hetr in regards to the information the Orion Colonies Intelligence have on the matter.” Stated Kit as she stood at the position of attention. “Given that the Orions have had dealings with the Cardassians prior to the war, with the Dominion during the war, and again with Cardassians post war, I believe my cousin will have valuable information to provide. She is the diplomatic representative of the Eau de Nil, whom have had dealings with Gul Macet, prior to his demise and the planet Orias III, and still have trade agreements with the planet and current Gul of Orias III.” Kitiuas waited for a response, she felt sick to her stomach and uneasy in the presence of the Commodore.

S'thenosis grinned, if one could call it that. Her pupils enlarged as well as she gestured to the chair in front of her with a swish of her wrist. "Do sit down. Would you care for some refreshment, something calming on the nerves perhaps?" She offered without moving from her seat. She could tell there was a nervousness to the Ensign's voice, and while normally she would not bother, there were details the Ensign wished to share and information was not something brushed aside lightly.

Ensign Thenis took the indicated seat and sat at the position of attention. The Commodore was a very imposing individual. “No thank you, Sir.” She replied to the offer of refreshments. “I am here to assist with the Cardassian issue by ….” Suddenly the ship’s red alert klaxon began to blare. For a moment Ensign Kitiuas was unsure what to do. “Sir, may I be excused to report to my assigned duty station?” she inquired.

The Commodore's tongue flicked out from between her lips and her chest scales puffed upwards at this turn of events. She pushed back from her desk and stood in one smooth motion, her spine managing to remain perfectly straight. "I shall join you as it would seem a tool has been thrown into our works, causing potentially further delay." It did seem to be the nature of thing on this ship, or any under the command of Captain Kaylen, for that matter.

She stepped out and the ship lurched to the side, dropping out of warp. S'thenosis stumbled slightly before righting herself. "I do believe we should move with haste Ensign."

“I would concur with your assessment Commodore” replied Thenis as she caught herself on the back of the chair she had been sitting in to keep from falling. Looking out the Commodore’s viewport she stated “It would appear the ship is on a collision course with a planet.” How the hell is that possible she thought as she began to make her way out of the Commodore’s office.

S'thenosis paused momentarily and looked behind herself into space beyond and the blue/green ball of a planet that was growing larger in the window. She placed one hand upon her chest where her second heart valve resided and sighed, "Not again." She then hiked her dress and moved with as much haste as she could towards one of the crash ready sites on board. Unfortunately she barely made it to the antichamber before the ground rose up to meet the ship.
