The bigger they are…

He had been out on a walk, his appointment schedule light for the day. While the arboretum housed his plants, he was already done checking in on them for a few days and so was just taking in the sights.

Rarely did he get a chance to travel below decks due to the fact that most areas were off limits to civilians. Today however, he was perusing an aft section of the ship and the various lounges and view ports in an effort to find one with a nice romantic view of the warp nacelles in all of their splendid glory.

Remal turned a corner and promptly ran into another Bajoran who appeared to be in a bit of a rush. From the man's hands he dropped a pair of isolinear chips. Remal, being the kind man that he was, bent down to pick them up but when he stood up again, the other man was gone. He took a moment to look to where the man may have gone before suspicion got the better of him. Instead he began to wonder where the man had come from.

He pocketed the chips and started down the bridge that led to the newly installed warp engine pylon. Before he had made it across the ship suddenly bucked shifting him off balance and into the rail. He could feel the shift as the ship dropped out of warp and then the lights went dark.

The ship was shaking, the darkness surrounding, he knew he had to get somewhere safer than the walkway. He tapped his badge, "Computer…" but it failed to respond. Using the rails as a guide, he began making his way back towards the main ship when the surrounding air grew warm, and then hot. He couldn't see out but his gut and past experiences told him they were crash landing, again. That or something else was really wrong.

Finally he made it back to the corridore only to find several other crew members rushing by in a panic. Reacting and taking charge he shouted, "everyone, get down or get to safety." Several of them dropped to the deck, just as the ship struck dirt.

He was lifted off the deck, his feet momentarily free from the confines of gravity. At that moment the ship collided with something, throwing him forward and then down to the ground where he landed arm first. It was the crunch which made him wince. But the ride wasn't over yet as the deck plates continued to shake and rattle beneath him.

He rolled off his arm, the field medic within him taking over. Grabbing the fabric of his shirt and tearing it, he attempted to splint the broken bone when suddenly the ship hit dirt, flinging everyone and everything up at an angle, including the big man.

When they landed upon the deck, debri from above rained down upon them. While the outsiders of the ship were built to handle the stress, the insides were not. The last thing he remembered seeing in the darkness were sparks just before a bulkhead came down upon his chest, knocking the air out of him and putting him under, out of conscience.
