Bridge Crew Pt 8

Posted on Tue Aug 16th, 2022 @ 12:43am by Captain Rhenora Kaylen & Commander Dean House & Lieutenant Ashlesha 4827/A & Ensign Kitiuas Thenis & Lieutenant Commander Bonnie "Bon-Bon" Durnell

Mission: New Harrington
Location: USS Sunfire
Timeline: Current

It was an emotional moment when Remal's voice echoed around the bridge, the Captain releasing the breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. She listened patiently as they explained the situation on the planet, and made arrangements to beam down a supply of water that would hopefully assist the cause.

Ensign Thenis watched from her science console as the atmosphere of New Harrington was fully enveloped in cloud cover. It was lightly raining across the entire planet, a safe and pure rain. The most amazing thing was that the atmosphere was fully repaired and far superior in air quality than it was prior to colonization. “Captain, New Harrington is experiencing light rain across the entire globe. Water quality from the rain is pure and one could literally hold a glass out and drink it. Atmosphere is completely repaired and air quality is superior to what it was prior to colonization.” Reported Kitiuas.

"That's odd" the Captain replied, not wanting to look the proverbial gift horse in the mouth.

Ashlesha glanced at herself, a mixture of apprehension and cautious hope mirrored on her faces. the result seemed almost too good to be true.

"Any idea how that came about?" green asked aloud.

" We will investigate once we've ensured there will be no further environmental issues on the planet. Do we know if there are any weather stations online or they are all still offline?" Rhenora asked, musing as to whether the weather stations were the ultimate cause of all the planets problems.

"It may not be as odd as we think...maybe. It could be a combination of what we've done, in conjunction with the virus being cleared, or something else. I'm sure we'll find out." Dean glanced down to check to see about the other weather stations. "Perhaps a couple may be rebooting. We'll probably be able to tell in a few minutes, Ma'am."

Kaylen returned to her centre chair, watching the viewscreen carefully as though sheer willpower could prevent anything going wrong. 6 of the weather stations changed from offline to online. Then they waited.

Dean smiled. Making sure to highlight the six. "See, there's some of them now." Another step in the right direction. He wondered about Bonnie and just how nuts she's making herself thus far. Her in general as well being thought about. Come to think about people, he hadn't heard from or seen Jennifer in a good while. Jessica either.

Kit continued to monitor the planets recovery, everything seemed to be returning to normal or better than when the planet was first colonized. She changed her attention to the main Orbital Weather Station, it was still in an orbital free fall towards the planet. “Captain, have we contacted the away team on the main weather station? It is still in a free fall towards the planet estimated time till upper atmosphere collision is 15 minutes and forty five seconds.” She hated to remind the captain of this news amidst all the good news about the planet and contacting the planet side away team.

There was a sigh given, "Time for one of those crazy ideas again?" As if Dean had one brewing already.

"Move the Sunfire within tractor beam range and prepare to lock on to the station if they don't regain control in the next three minutes" the Captain rose from her chair again. She had been replying on getting comms with the away team and then advising their situation, but in the absence of detailed knowledge of exactly what was going on, she was take action to save their lives.

Ashlesha frowned at herself, then Green said to the Captain, "Sir, I think they are making an attempt to get the stabilizers online? It...I am not quite sure how I know that?"

"Is Counselor Aurora a Vulcan? Half Vulcan?" Gray asked aloud, "Is she pregnant? Is she in a romantic relationship with Commander Savar? How do I know all of that?"

"I'm not sure how you know some of that but I'm going to trust that you have some kind of connection with her going on" Rhenora moved over to where Gray was. "Does Aurora think they can get the stabilisers working?"

"Hmm." Dean smiled, "Well that was part of my crazy idea." Looking to Grey.

"I don't think she knows," Ashlesha Gray said after a moment. Her eyes widened a bit, "But...I think I do!"

"Do what you have to" the Captain smiled, not knowing exactly how or what communication was taking place. It was their only insight into what was going on with the weather station.

"Dean, status of those weather stations coming back on line?"

"Three of them have about eighteen seconds, the other three about three minutes, Captain."

"Keep an eye on them. Hopefully they remain stable and not go back to their bad habits." Rhenora smiled at the really bad joke. It did have it's intended affect though and lightened the mood on the bridge.

"Is the tractor beam ready for the main weather station? We need a good buffer before it enters the atmosphere"

"Captain, sensors show the away team now had stabilisers back on line, they're out of time to get the thrusters working." A report came from the back of the bridge.

Rhenora nodded, realising the time had come for the Sunfire to take the risk and step in.

"Activate tractor beam!"
