The Pursuit and the Pursuers Pt III

Posted on Fri Aug 18th, 2023 @ 9:53am by Lieutenant Sarah Wilson & Senior Chief Petty Officer Ronson Mitchell & Commander Dean House & Lieutenant JG S’Ers-a Kelek t’LyrZor, Maa t'Lyr'Zor & 1st Lieutenant Kate Score & Lieutenant Thomas Haldeman & Lieutenant Commander Bonnie "Bon-Bon" Durnell

Mission: Repairs and Retribution
Location: Sunfire

Sera stepped off the turbolift and looked around; this was not exactly how she wanted to come aboard a starship.

“Greetings. I am trying to locate the Captain or the XO...”

In the center seat, Tom turned in the direction of the lift and looked at the new officer. *Vulcan female* He noted silently to himself. "Commander House is in Sickbay, Lieutenant. He is who you need to speak with.

Ronson was about to speak but decided better against it, the officer was new and obviously wasn't aware of the rather precarious predicament they were all in at the moment.

Sera studied the view screen and intuited at the bridge crew was hard at work at…something. However, in the moment, there was nothing she could do…One did not simply sit at the security station and just…’take over.’ There was protocol to be followed.

Her mouth thinned ever so slightly—and most assuredly NOT in pique—and Sera turned to continue her ‘quest’ to obtain the elusive ‘permission’ to come aboard. More accurately, to report and obtain the permissions necessary to access Sunfire’s computer systems so that she could assist.

Turning around she stepped back onto the turbolift. Next destination...sickbay.

Sickbay...

Before the doors had even parted, the exasperated sounds of someone cussing up a storm, switching in and out of Bajoran emanated from within. Clearly female, Bonnie looked at Dean, "Patin." She said simply.

"Definitely." Dean stepped in ahead of Bonnie this time, which usually he'd always wait for her to go first.

Dr Wilson was in no mood for another fiesty Bajoran. "Stay still or I will have sedated" the good doctor threatened as she attempted to treat The injured woman whilst dodging the spray of obscenities that erupted.

Score stood nearby with a Phaser pistol at her hip and a Marine Grade Phaser Rifle which were both set to stun. Only There to keep the Doctor safe.

"Dammit...should have told them to have downloaded the escape pod logs before destroying it," said under Deans breath. Little late now. Giving a nod to Score as he passed by and over to where Sarah and Patin were. "More actual talk, even more cursing later, Patin. You're no use to us unconscious."

Sarah looked at the Acting Captain "she has significant injuries that require urgent treatment, I will need to sedate her shortly to continue treatment" she gave Patin a glare that read 'stay put', and motioned for Dean to move towards the bed. She also motioned Kate forward, providing a level of security for the Bajoran wildcard.

Patin was not ready to stop fighting and once she saw Commander House she was ready to strike out again. She pushed the doctor aside as she slid off the bed and pointed a finger at Dean, "I don't need 'treatment'! I wouldn't need help at all if you had stayed the course. Where the hell have you been for the last several hours? Hiding?"

Sarah landed on her ass with a thud and hauled herself to her feet. "Well if you don't NEED treatment, will you stop bleeding all over my floor" There was an attitude in her voice that meant she was serious. "Let me treat you, tell HIM what you know and then we can get the Captain, Savar and Aurora out of this mess." Her voice drifted off a bit "Hang on.... where's Remal?"

"What have we been doing? We've been doing what we have to to get there and get them out alive. A better question is what were you two doing? Or even thinking. As she said also where is Remal." Said as he moved around to help Sarah up.

"You had me worried to death, um, you and Remal." Bonnie piped up even as she leaned against the nearby medbed control panel, while not thinking about who was in the bed.

Patin looked at each of them in turn. "Where do you think Remal is? He was the bait. We lured the Carddies into our trap, kicked their collective arses and let Remal get captured. He has a tracker under his skin. The walking disaster should have told you all of this. All you had to do was stay the course. Follow us in and pull me out before I died."

The bed behind Bonnie began beeping, indicating the patient laying on the bed was lacking oxygen for some unknown reason. The sound would break the tension, eventually.

Sarah's head snapped around at the insistent beeping. She nodded her thanks to Dean and quickly turned her attention to the patient who was turning a disturbing shade of blue. This of course left Patin unattended. "Stay put..." She cautioned from the other side of the room.

"Well isn't that just frakking peachie keen, Patin. Did you get hit in the head so hard you forgot the part where you two went off by yourself. Stole a ship, got yourself into that situation, which was obviously not a trap you set up, you just got caught. When, and if you both had been thinking with that lump that's 3 feet above your ass, and stuck with us. You'd know what was going on and Remal now wouldn't be captured as well."

Dean gave a little shrug, "Oh a tracker. Yet again, nothing you two bothered to tell anyone about. We're also not mind readers and we can't think of everything. Contrary to popular belief." Giving a glance to Bonnie for a split second, "You're not innocent either, Bon-Bon." Returning his gaze to Patin.

Bonnie scowled at Dean, before looking down and away in shameful embarrassment. Not only did she not appreciate being called out in front of everyone present, but she was belittled in the process. He had hit a nerve by using her nickname in a setting that should have been professional.

"Ouch, harsh" Sarah whispered to herself as she stabilised the second patient and moved back to Patin. "Is there anything we need to know before this hypo hits your bloodstream and you end up high as a kite?" She brandished a hypo in one hand and a dermal regenerator in the other.

The sickbay doors made the tell-tale whoosh as they opened and a yellow-collared female Vulcan entered sickbay.

Sera observed the activity going on and chose in the moment to remain silent and be as unobtrusive as possible. This was not her domain. She did not readily see any red-collared individuals in sickbay and wondered idly if she had been sent on a spurious task.

Patin was grinding her teeth holding back her words. Not since the occupation had she been treated with such disrespect. Without looking at Sarah she mumbled, "Save the hypo, he's going to need it first." And with that she hauled back and let loose a punch right at Dean's face. It was a quick, unsuspecting jab that caught him right in the bridge of his nose.

" Possibly deserved, but ouch again" Sarah muttered under her breath and she added yet another crewman to her patient roster. Looking up at the doors opening she noted the new officer. "Can I help you??" She asked.

Sera blinked at what she had just witnessed. She quickly calculated distance and determined it would take 3.9 seconds to get to the person who just slugged the officer in operations yellow. Her fingers loosened on her ‘seabag’ and it would only take the final release in her fingers and—

“Perhaps I could ask you the same question, Lieutenant. Shall I subdue the…unruly patient?” Sera inquired mildly while tilting her head slightly to the side in non-verbal inquiry.

"Patin? She's just blowing off some steam, I think. However I will have to mend the acting Captain's nose now." The good Doctor grumbled as she smiled at the newcomer. "Dr Wilson, pleased to meet you. This is commander House, Lt Durnell and Patin." She introduced the mostly crew. "And that is Lt Score" she nodded towards each of them as she introduced them. "Did you come to Sickbay for a particular reason?"

Score nodded at the New Visitor when her name was mentioned.

Sarah mused for a moment as she fixed Dean's nose, and turned her attention back to Patin who was still glaring at everyone in the room. Something twigged.

"Oh, you're new... so you're looking for the Captain to report in.... ahh.. about that"

Sera was initially unsure of how to respond for the doctor's train of thought did not come to a logical conclusion. So she waited until an awkward amount of time had passed...so there would be no further explanation. Very well.

"I am new to this ship, yes. However, I do not understand what you are...implying?"

The Doctor looked around and decided that she may as well tell the truth. "The Captain has been kidnapped by Cardassians, as has Commander Savar and Counsellor Vali. We believe they are being held in the Kunar system. Is that right Patin?"

"If that's where the beacon points, yeah. Don't know." She glared at Dean. "I was left to drift in a pod for the last few hours."

Bonnie responded to Sarah and Sera, "The tracking beacon stopped moving about thirty minutes ago on the planet Kunar. It's still transmitting but the signal is fuzzy indicating a transport inhibitor or similar is hindering the signal. I've been watching since that small ship was destroyed just in case..." She trailed off in thought for the safety of her friend.

"So if the tracking beacon is still transmitting, that means Remal's still alive... and if its not moving much, then he MAY be with the others..." Sarah mused aloud, taking way too many positive choices than the facts permitted.

Typically Dean would have been ready for that from just about whomever, depending on the circumstances. Not this time though unfortunately. Reaching to to see if his nose was broken, which it wasn't. The bridge of his nose was certain split open and bleeding however. "Son of a bitch!" the anger was there but he wasn't going to retaliate right now. Looking back to the rest then to Patin. "Which we already knew what planet. Next time we'll just leave the escape pods and ships. Head straight for the mark. How about that."

Sarah knew the jib was meant for Patin, who despite being rescues was obviously unhappy with the lack of crystal ball reading skills being displayed. Ever the peacekeeper the Doctor stepped forward " Why don't you take our new officer, and Lt Score to the bridge and I'll look after Patin."

Score lifted her Rifle a bit higher at her Name and stood straighter. And Stood ready to move.
