Meeting the Captain

Mission: Repairs and Retribution
Location: Guest Quarters - Starbase 67
Timeline: Whilst the Sunfire is in for Repairs

The Sunfire had been in spacedock for several days so far. Her crew either on well deserved leave or assisting with the repairs. Several crew were earmarked to join the Sunfire whilst they had crashed on the planet. Most of them were most likely on the Starbase on making their way there presently.

"Computer, is Lt O'Drisscol on board the starbase?" Captain Kaylen Rhenora tapped the control panel on the desk she was working at.

"Lt O'Drisscol is currently aboard Starbase 67" the computer intoned.

"Wonderful, please page him to report to my location at his convenience" Rhenora went back to reading the reports on the repairs and sipping the coffee that had appeared by her side some time recently.

T'Ka had been in his temporary quarters, mostly everything would need to be beamed aboard the sunfire when it came time for now he was living out of a box, that suited the young vulcan just fine.

Just then the computer buzzed, walking over he smiled "Finally" he said with a little glee to his voice "Computer Send captain a page to let her know I'm on my way" he grabbed his duty padd and left his quarters.

He hopped into the turbo lift "Computer take me to captain kaylens quarters" he spoke with that slight jovial tone with an undercurrent of vulcan to it. The starbase was teaming with life as he stepped out into the busy causeway. He stepped up to the door and pressed the chime.

Rhenora places the mostly cold coffee cup back on the desk she had turned into a workstation, grimacing at the bitter flavour.

"Come in" she called, standing and heading towards the door. The doors opened to reveal the ships new CMO.

"Ahh Lt O'Drisscol, please, do come in" she stepped to the side to allow him entry. "Would you care for something from the replicator" she asked, heading there and ordering herself another hot brew.

T'ka entered the quest quarters "Tea please captain" he said with wide smile "Thank you for seeing me captain" he said as he stepped into the room "I hope the crew are recovering well from there time on the planet" he spoke as he waited for the cup of tea.

Rhenora handed over the cup of tea before rounding the desk and taking a seat, indicating for him to do the same. "Thank you for responding so quickly. We've been without a CMO for a long time and I'm excited to have someone fill the position." She started, taking a sip of the strong coffee. "Our ACMO Dr Wilson is a fine physician, but she's exhausted"

T'Ka smiled as he took a seat and brought the got tea to his lips "It was my pleasure captain" he said with a jovial tone of voice "I'm excited to get started aswell I haven't been on a ship in some years I was re assigned to starfleet medical atxthw end of the Dominion war to serve as a triage doctor and councillor" he spoke drinking so e of his tea.

"I see, so you are qualified in both? A very handy person to have on a Starship that sees as much action as the Sunfire" Kaylen replied warmly. "If you're after an interesting post, I can assure you the Sunfire never disappoints" there was a wry smile that just tickled the corner of her mouth. "I'm sure Dr Wilson will give you the rundown once Sickbay is up and running again. But in the meantime, the crew went through the proverbial wringer back on the Dinosaur planet. I would recommend calling the follow up medical checks to make sure there are no lingering injuries" she kept quiet about her own experience in both the crash and the cave in.

T'Ka Smiled "I am captain mainly in the treatment of psychological ailments but I did a minor in councilling at the academy so I'm up to speed on most psychological practices and the treatment of most mental health issues" he said with a wide smile "Life is an ever encompassing adventure captain and I fully intended to make this assignment as fun and worthwhile as my last" he said drinking from his cup.

He smiled "I have most crew slated for a physical the moment I get on aboard I will also makesure to check there psychological health as well as there physical as my father would say a mental ailment can sometimes manifest as a physical health condition" he said taking another swig from his cup.

"I'm sure the crew will be most accommodating, and I promise to lead by example." She bantered back, knowing full well the reputation that captain's had for neglecting their own well being. "I'm told the repairs should take a few more weeks, although Sickbay is a priority..it should be repaired and upgraded by the end of this week*

T'ka smiled as snorted a little in laughter "As long as I don't have to drag you t sick bay we will be most agreeable captain" he spoke as he laughed again "During the Dominion war my captain a the time had to be dragged kicking and screaming from the bridge to be treated for a head wound he'd sustained at the conn it was not pretty" he spoke as he sipped from his drink "I look forward to getting to know the bells and whistles of the new sick bay my last sick bay was quite expansive so i msure i will welcome a small space to work within it was a nightmare trying to find anything in my old office"

" You won't have to drag, strongly encourage maybe but I'll draw the line at drag" Rhenora laughed at the visual of getting dragged bodily down the corridors to be treated. "And for the next short while anyway I have concerned slightly more significant than my own" She patted her swollen belly, indicating she was nearly halfway through her pregnancy.

"Congratuations captain" he spoke with a wide beam to his face "Well as soon as the sunfire is back up and running I would like to see you as soon as your able just to make sure mother and baby are doing well" He said "If you don't mind my asking how far along are you captain?" he said taking another sip from his cup.

Rhenora blushed a little, unused to the attention "Just over half way, by Bajoran terms that is" She patted the roundness of her belly before moving on. "Whilst I don't expect it to overly impact on my daily duties , I'm sure you'll let me know when the toeing on the line becomes crossing the line" She steered the conversation back to safer waters so to speak. "So, I believe you have everyone slated for mental and physical evaluations over the next few weeks, did you need any extra resources for that?"

T'Ka wasn't overly familiar with bajoran life cycles but that now meant the young vulcn would have to deep dive to make sure he had all of his research in order "Well I'm sure I will tell you in enough time captain, but I will wont to see you at least every 2 weeks to make sure that the pregnancy is ontrack" he said with a wide smile "I could do with a nook in sickbay that I could access specifically for mental and emotional therapy some people find it easier if there is not manyin the area of treatment"

"If you want to make changes, now's the time" the Captain replied, taking a sip of her coffee "whilst the repairs are underway and the starbases engineers are in full swing it would be easier to make any adjustments now. Just submit what you need and I'll see if we can borrow a little space for you"

T'Ka pondered a little "Well actually I do have a rather odd request" he spoke as he steepled his fingers on his chin "I would also like to have my quarters close by to sick bay encase of an emergency and the Assitant Cheif Medical Officer cant get there I'm on hand at all hours" he spoke matter of factly.

"I don't see any reason why that couldn't happen, there are crew quarters in that deck and you're welcome to requisition whichever of them you would like" the Captain replied, already liking the work ethic of this new officer.

Her combadge chirped, calling for her attention.

"If you'll excuse me Doctor...send me the specs and requisition for your quarters and Sickbay redesign and I'll get it happening for you" she concluded the meeting before turning her attention to another crisis.
