Mission:
Planet of the Dinosaurs
Location: Campsite
Timeline: Evening , day 2
Despite the heat of the day, everyone had followed the Captain's orders and kept most of their skin covered, as the day progressed Sarah dealt with more dehydration and less bug bites than the morning.
Those digging the channel worked in shifts, they dug for half an hour then rested, the team rotating through an aid station to make sure noone got too hot. Either way it was hard work and everyone took a turn on the shovel, including the Captain
As she finished her allocated half hour her clothes clung to her sweat drenched body, accentuating the slight roundness of her belly. She grabbed a water canteen and sat in the shade whilst she rested, allowing her body to cool and recover before heading back into the camp. Soon the shuttle would return with more supplies and equipment.
Aurora was happy she was able to help Savar, she wasn’t sure how long she’d be able to keep his unstable emotions stable, but for now his emotional imbalance was under control. Curious as to why Sidak hadn’t seemed bothered like everyone else she took him to see Sarah.
“Sarah” She smiled warmly. “This might be nothing, but I was wondering why Sidak hasn’t shown signs of being ill like others. I know we don’t know much about his people, is it possible he’s got some sort of immunity to this environment? It could be why I haven’t been as bad as a lot of the crew, maybe some lingering immunity from having carried Sidak?”
Sarah looked up at Aurora entered, feeling the stress of the day on her body and mind. She picked up her ever handy tricorders and ran some scans, sending them to Remal and Blake who were busy running comparisons and generally being several extra sets of hands.
"Maybe, I'll need to run a detailed analysis. If it's something we can use I'll be sure to let you know" she smiled.
Aurora smiled. “I just hope my hunch, if you can call it that, pays off.” With that she picked up her son and headed on her way.
At the channel being dug to provide water to the camp. Savar worked tirelessly. Aurora's meld had helped him regain emotional balance. he wasn't sure how long it would last as even now he felt stirrings of emotions beginning to bubble and brew.
He would stop for a few minutes, rest and then resume his digging, The channel would be bring much needed water to the camp and also reduce the danger of having to make a trip to the stream.
Sandy had been tasked with shuttle duty and it was a welcome job but very important one. Ferry supplies to the camp. "Hurry up people get this ship loaded. Our crew mates need these supplies desperately," she said urgently.
=/\= Captain, this is Risa, shuttle is about ready to join you=/\= she said into
"Glad to hear it Risa, we could sure use what you have on the shuttle" The Captain replied as she headed out of the respite tent to resume organising the camp. Several hardframed shelters had arrived and were in the process of being assembled. One would be an upgraded medical facility, and the others would be for the more vulnerable members of the crew.
People were hot and tired, fatigue and a delayed stress reaction from the crash starting to take its toll on the crew. They weren't used to roughing it, and whilst they had shelters, the weather hadn't been particularly kind to them.
Aurora heard the communication as she approached Rhenora. “How are we going to decide who stays in the shelters once their built?”
"There are way more people than buildings, but the largest will become the med tent, and I think we should run some kind of lottery as to who gets to share the rest of them. I don't think it's fair to pick and choose who gets more shelter. " Rhenora admitted as she looked at the shelters.
Aurora nodded. “Agreed, it’s unfair to pick certain people. It should be a fair drawer.”
Rhenora nodded and they refocused their efforts to get the shelters together. There was a cave system nearby for emergency accommodation should they need it. Hopefully it wouldn't need to be used.
