Posted on Mon Apr 11th, 2022 @ 9:34pm by Lieutenant Commander Aurora Vali & Commander Savar cha'Salik hei-Surak Talek-sen-deen

Mission: *CD*
Location: Aurora & Savar's Quarters
Timeline: After Jailhouse Rock

After deciding on Commander House's punishment. Savar had returned to the quarters he and Aurora shared. He had some bad news to give her.

Aurora had just got home when Savar more or less followed her in. “Hey, What brings you home so soon?”

"Hello Aurora. I have something I wish to discuss with you. I would rather do it here than in my ready room." Savar answered with a subdued tone.

Aurora looked worried. “Why do I get the feeling that I’m not going to like what you’re going to say?”

"Because I do not like what I have to tell you Aurora. I only hope you can forgive me." Savar answered as he guided her to the sofa so they could sit together.

“What is it I have to forgive?” Aurora looked at Savar worriedly. Was she facing time in the brig for her actions?

By a way of an answer Savar begins speaking, "Commander House has received his punishment for his shooting of me. He will spend one night in the brig, two weeks potato duty and a temporary grade reduction to Lt. Cmdr for six months. However, he will still retain his position as First Officer," As he finishes his eyes remain on Aurora.

Aurora nodded. “Okay so where does that leave me for stabbing, and almost killing Niali?”

"I am getting to that Aurora." Savar replied his voice dropping a notch. "Your punishment has also been decided on." Savar informed her.

“Then tell me! Stop beating around the bush!” She looked at Savar with a combination of fear and annoyance.

Savar's eyes hardened in anger for a moment then the moment was gone. "As you wish Aurora. Your punishment is as follows. You will have no brig time. You will have two weeks potato duty and a temporary reduction in rank to Lieutenant jg for six months. You will remain chief counselor as well as a member of the senior staff." He finished and waited for Aurora's reaction.

“Rank reduction!” Aurora looked shocked but she nodded nonetheless. “So I’m to be punished even though you keep telling me I wasn’t to blame? Isn’t that saying that I’m guilty? In which case I should be in the brig.”

Savar shook his head. "No, it does not say that Aurora. There were no formal charges brought here. No trial. Your punishment is what it is because to sentence Commander House and you not receive a similar punishment would have looked odd."

Aurora nodded. “I guess you’re right.” She hung her head, potato duty she could stand but the rank reduction stung like a bee sting. “I’m sorry I’m just finding the rank reduction hard to accept, I know it’s only temporary but ...” she shook her head.

Savar took her hand in his. I am sorry if you are disappointed in me Aurora. I love you totally and completely and I looked for something other than this. You are still chief counselor and still a member of the senior staff."

“Heavens! No I’m not disappointed in you Savar, you’ve had to do this and I understand.” Aurora offered a brief smile. “I’m just ... disappointed in myself for not being strong enough to fight that thing off in the first place.”

Savar's head dropped. He had a decidedly human reaction, he felt heartbroken over Aurora's 'punishment' after a moment his head raised and he looked at Aurora. "Do not be, you are an amazingly strong woman Aurora. The strongest woman I know. You put up with me and you are a wonderful mother to Sidak. I am the one who is disappointed in myself."

“There’s no need for you to be Imzadi, I might not have been in control of my actions but I was to blame I could have killed Niali.
I guess my rank meant more to me than I thought it did, I’d rather be in the brig than lose my rank.”

"You are kind to tell me not to blame myself. However I do. I am the captain and I couldn't find a another solution. As for you being in the brig, no Aurora. you have Sidak to look after and you being here for him is paramount." Savar replied with quiet conviction.

Aurora nodded. “Then I accept my punishment” She offered a smile. “I need to be the mother I’ve always wanted to be, and as you said I can’t do that from the brig. Speaking of Sidak I need to get his feed ready.”

Savar nodded, he wasn't sure but he felt Aurora was if not mad at him she was highly annoyed over this entire situation and he could not blame her. "Of course Aurora." He said quietly, "I will be in the study and out of your way."

“Savar ...” Aurora gently took hold of his hands. “Don’t go, please stay.” She offered a warmer smile. “Its not you I’m annoyed with, it’s just this whole situation. I just have to work my way past it.”

Savar held onto her hand. "I have no desire for my presence to annoy you Aurora. I too feel bad over this and have to work past it." He finished, looking into the eyes of the woman he loved so much.

“Your presence could never annoy me Imzadi” Aurora offered a reassuring smile. “I feel guilty for what I did to Niali, if anything the punishment is too lenient.” She moved to stand up ready to check on Sidak. “I’ll be right back, I need to check on Sidak, see if he’s anywhere near waking up for his feed yet.”

Savar didn't reply. he felt he had betrayed Aurora. She was his wife and best friend and he had in turn given her punishment. What sort of man did that to his wife?" He got up and walked into the kitchen.

Heading into the nursery Aurora was pleased to see that Sidak was still napping, he was starting to sleep longer between feeds which right now gave her more time with Savar. Emerging from the nursery she offered a smile as she walked over to Savar. “Sidak is still sleeping, his feeds appear to be holding him longer now.”

"That is good to know and hear Aurora. Sidak is a growing child that needs his mother here with him just as I need my wife and soulmate." Savar replied with a quiet sincerity.

“I’m still here.” Aurora offered a smile. “At least I will be between my shift and my turn dishing out potatoes to the crew.”

Savar closed his eyes at Aurora's joke. "To help you in your upcoming tasks, what may I do to help take the stress off you? Is there anything involving Sidak I can do?"

Aurora nodded. “You can pick Sidak up from nursery at the end of shift and give him his feed, that would help.”

"Very well, I can do that. Is there anything else I can do to assist you Aurora?" Savar wanting to ease Aurora's burden any way he could.

Aurora nodded and took Savar’s hand, she didn’t say anything she simply lead him towards their bedroom. While Sidak was asleep they had time to enjoy each other’s company and right now Savar needed to know that she wasn’t holding him to blame for her punishment. She paused by their bed for a moment.

“If we could have a baby of our own I’d ask right now, but as it is with my being a hybrid ...” she paused. “So I’ll just say, make love to me?”

Savar stood transfixed by what Aurora said. "Aurora, do not despair. We will have a child, our child." He answered with conviction before adding in a surprised voice, "What? After what I told you concerning your punishment, you wish me to make love to you? You are a most amazing woman Aurora."

“Enough talk ...” Aurora smiled as she gently pulled Savar down onto the bed.

Savar came to lie next to Aurora. Her ability to forgive was just one of her many outstanding traits. Savar still felt guilty, He had done what was necessary but that didn't make it right. He looked into Aurora's eyes and kissed her gently. "I love you Aurora. Now and until the end of time. Never forget the depth of my love and devotion to you." As he finished he leaned into her and kissed her gently and tenderly.
