Together

Posted on Mon Jul 12th, 2021 @ 2:12pm by Lieutenant Commander Aurora Vali & Commander Savar cha'Salik hei-Surak Talek-sen-deen

Mission: Gamma Quadrant
Location: Aurora/Savar's Quarters
Timeline: Current

Savar returned to his and Aurora's quarters to check on her as well as Sidak. Aurora had been wounded in the Jem'Hadar attack and he wanted to check on her. He also wanted to check on Sidak as he was becoming more and more attached to the baby as the days went on. Something he would not have thought possible scant days before.

"Aurora?" He called out as he entered the quarters.

Aurora stirred she’d fallen asleep in the rocking chair as she’d watched over Sidak. Emerging from the nursery she offered a tired smile. “I’m sorry, I fell asleep!”

"Do not apologize Aurora. I wanted to check on you and Sidak. How is your wound? You are not over doing your role of mother and your duties as a counselor are you?" He asked as Aurora's well being was paramount in his mind.

“I... don’t know anymore” Aurora settled onto the couch. “I thought it would be easy to be a mother and do my duties but...” she sighed. “All I could think of while the First was loose was our son! I was afraid that he’d get hurt!!”

"Then perhaps I can help you." Savar said as he sat down next to her. "Your reaction proves you are a good mother. Your concern for Sidak was paramount in your mind. It is the same care and compassion you put into your job when helping others. You are a wonderful mother, counselor and wife and you do yourself a disservice by questioning yourself."

Aurora smiled as she looked at Savar. “You, as always, know just the right thing to say to make me feel better. It’s not like I haven’t advised new mother’s before, but when it’s yourself doing the worrying it doesn’t make sense! I’m still on maternity leave so I should have listened to you and I should have been here not on the bridge.”

He took her hand and held it softly. "Aurora, for all intents and purposes, Sidak is our son and in times such as we just went through emotional stress is the highest. You were where you could be the most help. Do not apologize for that. You are safe and our son is safe." Savar finished giving Aurora's hand a little squeeze.

Aurora nodded and breathed a small sigh of relief, I’m a very lucky woman having you not just as my husband, but as my own personal Counsellor too... off the record of course!” She smiled. “I’m finding it hard to sleep at night as well, I wake up and I find it nearly impossible to get back to sleep! I went for a walk one night and ended up at Rhenora’s Quarters having a chat with her.”

" Thank you Aurora, you are most kind." Savar replied and continued. "Perhaps your inability to sleep is due in part to your anxiety over knowing Sidak will have to return to his parents at some point." Savar theorized. "You spoke with the Captain? I take it she too was having trouble sleeping."

Aurora nodded. “We’re both insomniacs at the moment. You are right though I do worry a whole lot about having to give up Sidak. I know he’s not ours, but I love him as any mother would. I will follow the advise that you gave me before, I will live day to day and enjoy what time I have with him.”

"And you will show and instill in him the best traits of our species. Compassion and care. Right from wrong and lastly and most importantly you will show him love and how to love." Savar replied.

Aurora nodded. “I will do my upmost to teach him to cherish life. I just hope if I have to say goodbye, that he’ll remember us.”

"Aurora, do not think of that. Think of the hours and days you have with Sidak now. Think of all you do to enrich his life. I am sure he will remember you and the love you have shown him." Savar answered with quiet conviction.

Aurora smiled and nodded. “I’d still like a child of our own at some point, when we’ve heard back from Starfleet that is. That’s if you still want us to do that?”

Savar nodded and spoke,"Having Sidak here with us as made me realize just how much I do want us to have a child and become a family." He replied. "I already know you will be an excellent mother Aurora."

Aurora’s smile practically shone. “Thank you Imzadi. I already know how wonderful a father you are. As wonderful as you are a husband.”

"I am not so sure Aurora. My behavior in the beginning toward Sidak was not the best and I strive to improve every day in my interactions with him." Savar answered solemnly.

“It’s understandable” Aurora smiled as she looked into Savar’s eyes. “I went against your judgement, you were cautious and I appreciate that. Babies have a way of ‘growing on’ people like Sidak has on you.”

"You are most forgiving and understanding Aurora and yes I find myself becoming more and more attached to Sidak and his well being." Savar acknowledged.

“That is what makes you a wonderful father Savar” Aurora smiled warmly. “As you are a wonderful husband.”

Savar leaned to her and kissed her softly. "You always make me feel better Aurora."

Aurora returned the kiss gently caressing Savar’s cheek with her fingers as she did so. “I will always be here to make you feel better Imzadi”

"I am very grateful to here it Aurora. I would be lost without you in my life."

Aurora smiled “As I would be without you Imzadi”
