{Trill Home World}
It was early one morning when Olivia got a message that she would be transferred to another ship rather than being sent back to her previous ship. It was going to be interesting seeing how things had changed for her since she had been away for awhile taking care of things that were not Starfleet related on a daily basis.
Olivia had been spending a little time with her parents on the Trill home world since she didn’t get to see them as often as she would like to see them. She knew that it was a price that she would have to pay due to being in Starfleet. Both of her parents had been in Starfleet at one point themselves, so they knew how things were depending on duty stations. Plus, she had already been on the Trill home world going through the training in the Initiate program and then the joining with her symbiont. So most of her time on the Trill home world was spent away from family and friends.
Packing up the few things she needed to pack, Olivia prepared to head back towards Earth in order to meet up with those that she needed to before meeting up with those that would get her over to her new ship. One thing that Olivia wanted to do now since she would be heading back to Earth would be to visit with one of her former instructors at the Academy. He had been one of her favorite instructors while she was at the Academy and she kept in touch with him as best she could. There were times when duty kept her busy, so it was challenging at times.
{Starfleet Academy, Earth}
After getting settled into temporary quarters, Olivia decided to pay a surprise visit to her favorite Instructor. Heading towards Campus, Olivia enjoyed walking along the grounds once again for the first time in what seemed like a long while, but she knew that had only been just a few years ago that she had been taking classes here. Wondering around for a while more, several memories came to mind for Olivia. It took a little bit, but Olivia started to figure out which previous host that certain memories belonged to from her own memories.
After enjoying a little more of the views, Olivia finally made her way towards the building where several of the self defense classes were currently being taught. The last time that she had seen any of her instructors, but she wanted to start with her favorite instructor. A few of the cadets looked her over as they passed by her in the corridors. It wasn’t often that one saw medical officer walking the corridors towards a self defense class. Not many that went the medical route at the Academy took more than just the basic self defense class while at the Academy. When she got to the class room that she remembered Master Yee’s was located and noticed that there was a posting for all of his students to meet in the gym for the days session. After making a mental note of which gym Master Yee’s classes for the day were being held in for the day, Olivia turned to head towards the gym. Olivia smiled a little as she found the gym and Master Yee in the middle of teaching some of the cadets. As usual there were still at least one or two students every class that liked to give Master Yee some sort of trouble.
“They are still sending you some of the trouble makers I see, Master Yee,” Olivia called out as she walked further into the gym. Master Yee smiled one of his rare smiles as turned to see Olivia walking into the gym and towards him. “My favorite student of all time has returned,” Master Yee said as he watched her come into the gym.
Olivia stopped at the edge of the practice mat and gave Master Yee a slight bow in respect. He returned the bow and then gave her one of his even more rare hugs. The last time she had gotten one of Master Yee’s hugs was graduation day. “You are a site for sore eyes, little one,” Master Yee said as he took a step back.
One of the cocky students in the class walked over to the edge of the mat and pushed Olivia in the shoulder. “How could this little shrimp handle anything taught in this class,” Jackson said. “We all know that someone like her should leave all the fighting to the tough guys.”
Olivia cocked a half smile as she took a half step back from the shove from the cocky student. After a moment, Olivia looked up at Master Yee with a bit of a mischief glint in her eye. “Do I get the chance to put a certain cocky prick in their place?,” Olivia asked of Master Yee. Master Yee chuckled a little as he looked Jackson over and then back at Olivia. “I’m sure you remember the rules little one,” Master Yee asked. “That I do, Master” Olivia replied.
Olivia bent down to unzip and remove her boots. After removing her boots and placing them by the mat, Olivia unzipped and removed the outer jacket of her duty uniform and placed it on top of her boots after folding it neatly.
Olivia turned to Master Yee and bowed to him before stepping onto the mat. “It would appear that I get to give a cocky brat a lesson or two,” Olivia said as she walked towards the center of the mat. “Like you could even teach me anything,” Jackson replied in return. He then grabbed a kendo stick that another cadet was holding and moved to strike Olivia across her back while she wasn’t looking.
Olivia turned slightly as she heard another student gasp upon seeing what Jackson was about to do to her. Due to her making the slight adjustment in turning the way she did, Olivia ended up only taking a partial blow to the back from the kendo stick. When the kendo stick made contact, Olivia wrapped her right arm around the kendo stick and pulled just enough to cause Jackson to stumble. “Lesson number one,” Olivia said, “be sure to know your opponent’s skill level to some degree before committing to an attack strategy.” Still holding onto the kendo stick, Olivia smoothly and swiftly yanked it out of Jackson’s hands and twirled it around deftly in her hands above her head. After a few turns of the kendo stick above her head, Olivia knelt down onto the mat and slammed down the kendo stick. Staying there for a few seconds, Olivia bowed her head slightly before looking back up.
Master Yee smiled a little once more as he watched how well Olivia remembered his teachings from when she was in his classes. “You honor me, little one,” Master Yee said as he watched Olivia. “Master,” Olivia said, “you will always have my respect. I learned a lot from you during my time here at the Academy and even a bit more through our correspondence.”
Jackson getting more cocky by the moment as he circled Olivia. “Like you could even handle anything taught in a class such as this,” Jackson mocked. Smiling slightly, Olivia gripped the kendo stick into her hands, swiftly jumped to her feet in a crouched position, and swung low catching Jackson behind his knees. Jackson groaned as he hit the mat on his knees. “Lesson number two,” Olivia said, “remember to always pay attention to your surroundings.” Olivia stood up fully with the kendo stick still in her hands and took the few steps over to Jackson.
“Cockiness and arrogance will get you into all sorts of trouble every time,” Olivia said as she stood over Jackson. “You still have a lot to learn from Master Yee,” Olivia continued. Groaning a bit, Jackson grabbed at the kendo stick and yanked it out of Olivia’s hands. She let go of the kendo stick easily. Once he had the kendo stick in hand, Jackson made a sweep for her legs. Olivia jumped effortlessly over the kendo stick. When she landed effortlessly on her feet, Olivia pulled a small device from a pocket in her pants that appeared to look like a scanner of sorts. Device in hand, Olivia kicked up knocking the kendo stick out of Jackson’s hands and as it went up she crouched down kneeing Jackson in the lower stomach knocking him flat onto the mat. The kendo stick ended up landing a short distance away on the mat. “Like I just said, you still have a lot to learn from Master Yee,” Olivia said. “Never underestimate an individual small in stature,” Olivia continued as she placed her hand with the scanner looking device right at Jackson’s throat. One slight tap on her scanner device and it expanded into her fighting pike. She heard several of the other cadets gasp at seeing the scanner change into a six-foot fighting pike. “Lesson number three,” Olivia spoke up again, “never piss off little woman carrying big stick.”
Master Yee walked over to where Olivia was crouched on Jackson and offered his hand to her in order to help her up. She looked up and smiled as she deactivated her fighting pike, and took Master Yee’s offered hand. “You have given everyone here a good demonstration today little one,” Master Yee said. “They all have a lot to consider before their next class session.
Several of the other cadets in the class were stunned at seeing such a small woman take down Jackson in such a fashion. Especially with said woman being either in the Medical or Science in their duties. Typically, if an officer of the Medical field, they have a certain oath that they hold to on a daily basis and it appeared that this particular officer could have done serious harm if they had been so inclined to do so.
Olivia walked alongside Master Yee towards the edge of the mat where her boots and uniform jacket were laying. Before grabbing her jacket and boots to put them back on, Olivia placed her fighting pike back into the small pocket on her pants leg where she kept it and the end that looked like the medical scanner sticking out slightly. When they reached the edge of the mat where her uniform items were located, Olivia bent down, set her uniform jacket aside long enough to pull on her boots, and then straightened up once she had her uniform jacket in hand.
“Before everyone leaves for the day,” Master Yee called out to the class, “your next assignment is to not only remember what Doctor Voight has demonstrated here during her visit, but also to practice the techniques from earlier in class.” He then turned slightly towards Cadet Jackson still over on the mat. “As for you Cadet Jackson,” Master Yee continued, “you are to do extra training today after your classes are completed. You will also write a formal apology to Doctor Voight and a ten-page report on officer decorum.”
“Holy Shit!,” Cadet Masterson whispered to his buddy. “That little lady is a Doctor?! Hard to believe that she took down Jackson.” Just then Olivia’s brother, Axel stepped through the door. “Still causing your own sort of trouble I see, Oli,” Axel said. “Not only is she a Doctor, but she is also my sister, so you had best be mindful and respectful in how you treat her going forward. A good bit of what my sister learned was taught to her by myself and her other two brothers before she even got accepted into Starfleet Academy.”
Olivia looked up to see Axel coming into the room. Dropping her uniform jacket, Olivia ran towards Axel and jumped up into his arm hugging his neck tightly and wrapping her legs around his waist. She felt Axel wrap his arms around her waist hugging her in return. They stood like this for a couple of minutes and then Olivia untangled herself as Axel sat her back down onto her feet. Once she was back on her own two feet, Olivia slapped Axel on the back of the head. “Ow!” Axel yelped. “What was that for, Oli?” Olivia tilted her head back slightly as she looked up at Axel. “Just when the HELL were you going to tell me that you got promoted?!” Axel turned a bit red in the face and looked down at his feet. “That’s what I thought, Bean Poll.”
Master Yee walked over to Olivia and Axel with her uniform jacket in hand and handed to her once again. “Alright, you two,” Master Yee spoke up, “I have another class that will be coming in shortly. So if you don’t mind, the three of us can do a bit more catching up after I finish my duties.” Olivia and Axel both nodded slightly as they walked with Master Yee towards the door. “We will see you later, Master Yee,” Olivia said as she gave him a quick hug and then pulled Axel by the arm on out of the gym.
Axel was rubbing the back of his head as Olivia pulled him down the corridor away from the gym class room that Maste Yee was teaching in for the rest of his classes that day. “Did you have to slap me so hard, Oli?” Axel asked. Olivia stopped dead in her tracks and looked up at Axel. “What do you think? “Olivia asked in return. “If you had told me about your promotion, then you wouldn’t have been slapped. So, in this case it was deserved.”
Olivia and Axel continued out of the building where the classes were being held. They walked around a section of the quad doing a bit of catching up and reminiscing at the same time about each of their individual times here at the Academy. “How is it that you are back here at the Academy, Oli?” Axel asked as they found a bench to sit down for a few minutes. “I thought you were still on Trill.” Olivia looked up at Axel as she thought for a moment. “I got new orders for my next duty station,” Olivia finally said in response. “I had thought that I would end up back on the USS Babylon once I had finished up with my training in the Initiate program and then the joining, but it appears that I am needed on a different ship.”
Olivia looked around a little noticing a few changes here and there as she thought for a moment before continuing. “Plus, I had to come back to check in for medical clearance before getting fully reactivated for duty,” Olivia spoke up once again. “So I thought that I would come by to see my most favorite Instructor while I was here.” Axel nodded a little as he listened to what Olivia had to say and then kissed her temple lightly. “You are the best and I’m sure that is why you are being sent to another duty station,” Axel replied. “Now how about I treat my favorite little sister to dinner. I’m starved.” Olivia slapped Axel again, this time on his upper arm. “I’m your only sister,” Olivia replied outraged. Axel chuckled a bit as he stood up and pulled Olivia up from the bench. “Your still my favorite either way.” He then pulled her along with him towards a nearby pizza restaurant.
