{ON]
=Medical Bay- USS Sunfire=
Having laid up on the bio bed for the past half an hour waiting for the doctor to come over once to the scans to determine whether he was of this universe or another, Michael was feeding rather on edge with everybody looking at him we suspicion, he turned to face thing who is getting attended to after getting a bat Leth To his shoulder and Bonnie was getting attended to as well. He wondered why he was being left to last to be seen too, as he was the chief security officer, and the thing was Dean was his superior Officer.

With everybody still looking at him, he was beginning to feel unsure of himself and thinking, was she meant to be here at this time on this ship? Still, Michael was not one to give up, as he had learned in the past that one must never give up in the face of problems that arise in front of you, and that loyalty, hustle, and respect go a long way in Starfleet.

Suddenly a nurse came over to his bed and asked him if he was OK, and check on him to see if he needed any attention, he asked” when am I going to be seen by the doctor, as I am needing to find out whether I am of this universe Or of a mirror universe so it can be put to rest so that everybody knows?” And he knew his other counterpart was different in so many ways from him, but he had to be sure that he was the right one, and so did the crew of the Sunfire.

The nurse replied,” How long have you been waiting?” As she looked round the room to see if you could get a doctor to come over and see to Michael and do the tests that were needed before he could return to duty, she continued” we are overflowing at the moment three patients the a needing more attention than you do” as she waved to her doctor he started to make his way over to Michael and start the scans that would determine who was who.

Dr Sarah Wilson made her way over, wiping her hands on her jacket and grabbing the tricorder out of her pocket. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Mr. Stevens. What seems to be the trouble?" She asked casually, having missed the former part of the conversation. His biosigns checked out, except for a slightly elevated heart rate and an adrenaline spike.

"Hi, Doc," replied Michael, looking up at the female Doctor who now stood by his bed. He continued, " I met a double of myself back on the station, and when we beamed back, I was placed in the brig," glancing over at Commander House. he looked back at the Doctor and finished," They want to know that I am the real me and not the Mirror me."

"A fair enough question" Sarah smiled as she reached over and grabbed a series of instruments. She methodically ran a number of detailed scans before coming up with a conclusion. "Well from what I can establish, you are our Michael, not the mirror one. All you bio readings match your last physical"

Nurse Cathaur stepped over and ran a multispectral analysis, displaying the results onto the monitor for all to see. "Dimensional markers indicate you are of this universe and not the mirror universe. I'd say you are safe Lieutenant."

Sarah reviewed the second set of readings and nodded. "I concur, you're free to go Mr Stevens, I'll inform the Captain"

"Are we positive?" Dean raised an eyebrow, considering what all had transpired. "Oh, Sarah, while I'm here, can you check my shoulder, it's a bit sore still. Thought that was fixed."

"As positive as we can be with the tools and information that we have" Sarah admitted with a little shrug. "I cleared the rest of you...except Jennifer and her little symbiont issue, using the same methods" the CMO moved closer to Dean and held a tricorder out to take some scans before moving his arm through a range of motion. "Hrmmm."

"I'm showing a bundle of torn ligaments that are not rebuilding naturally in that section Doctor. There is a possibility of a foreign object in quadrant 4C." Nurse Cathaur declared uniformly.

"A foreign object? How the hell did we miss that?" Sarah replied, mildly shocked. She looked at the scanner herself. "Damn, you're right, we'll have to remove it"

"Micro scans suggest it's metallic fragments." Cathaur looks at Dean. "What were you impaled with again?"

"Again being the operative word" Sarah quipped.

"What again? I don't know what you're talking about." Dean smirked a little, "A Katana. Masamune, 5000 year old sword."

"That," Cathaur said as she pressed a hypo filled with a muscle relaxer into Dean's neck, "Must have hurt a bit."

"I'll need to remove the fragment otherwise it's gonna cause inflammation and the like. You want to be awake for it or not? It'll only take a few minutes." Sarah explained.

"It's not exactly fun being impaled by yourself." Dean gave a slight shrug. "Oh..that's some good stuff. Awake is fine, I like to watch." There was a pause, "Okay, that sounded a little wrong. I mean medical procedures."

Sarah smirked, looked across to Baldric, then smirked again, saying nothing. " Your choice" She shrugged and injected him with a strong painkiller before motioning for him to lie down. "I need to make a small incision in your shoulder, don't move or it'll get bigger"

Cathaur adjusted the overhead field emitter, glancing briefly at Dean rather than the scan. “Your meaning was clear enough,” she said, a hint of dry amusement threading her tone. “Staying awake is reasonable. You are not in danger.” Her fingers settled at the incision site, helping Sarah to adjust the incision, confident, grounding. “If you feel something sharp, tell us. If you feel something strange, tell me first.” A pause, almost gentle. “And try not to move. Human shoulders respond poorly to enthusiasm.”

Sarah waited a moment before beginning, ensuring she had the filaments located using the scanner before digging deeper and swapping the laser scalpel for a set of forceps and removing several long shards of fine metal. "That would not have been comfortable" she murmured to herself.

Cathaur angled the scanner to catch the light off the removed fragments, studying them with quiet satisfaction. “No,” she said softly, almost companionably. “Your body was compensating. It would have failed eventually.” She glanced to Sarah, a small note of approval in her tone. “You caught it in time.”

"I missed it the first time, not a good thing. However we removed it before it caused any significant damage or inflammation." Sarah replied as she set her tools and used the dermal regenerator to close the incision site. "There you go Commander, good as new"

Cathaur made a final adjustment to the body scanner, then withdrew her hands, satisfied. “The repair is complete. For the next seventy-two hours, avoid strain, sudden rotation, and heroic decisions,” she said evenly. “Localized inflammation is normal. If you experience heat, numbness, or a grinding sensation, return immediately. Do not ‘test it.’ Human joints interpret testing as a challenge.” A brief pause and then, her gaze shifting sideways.

She then turned to Michael Stevens, one brow lifting just enough to be felt. “Lieutenant Junior Grade Stevens, what are you still doing here?” She took in a breath. “Your scans were clear. You are free to go.”

Sarah stepped back and watched Dean sit and then swing his legs over thr biobed, heading out the door shortly after. She looked towards Stevens and waited to see if he had anything further he wanted to address.

"Thank you, good Doctor. I'm curious about what that shard is made of. I do believe that it if not completely negated it, at the least slowed my healing factor down." Dean knew that would take a little bit of time, and he wasn't in a rush now that it was out.

"I can run an analysis on it, it is possible there was a contaminent on the blade that your body didnt like" Sarah mused, looking at the fillaments in the small container. She headed over to a nearby workbench and ran a number of scans.

"Hrm....there is a contaminent, a poison you could say. It would have killed anyone else."

There was a little bit of a negative look on his face, and then a smile. "Damn. That's something I would have done. Good job, MUer. Thank you again, Doctor." Shifting his legs over the side of the bio-bed.

"You're free to go, please come back if you feel light headed, nauseous or like something is off" Sarah smiled as she ran a scanner over him one more time.

"Thanks again," the second scan came out fine. Dean pushed to stand and took his leave, heading out of Sickbay.
