Mission: For Bajor!
Location: Captain's Quarters

The USS Sunfire made her way back towards DS9, a journey that would take them nearly a week at the speed they were travelling. There was no urgency, no need to strain the engines into going faster. Time was no longer sensitive.

Captain Kaylen Rhenora rose from her bed, tiptoeing out of the room so as to not wake her slumbering husband and child. Such moments of quiet were precious and few between. She sat under the large window on the comfortable lounge, curling her feet up underneath her to stop the ever present chill of the starfeet vessel from cooling her feet too much. Why were they so cold all the time? It was early, and the timer in their small kitchen hadn't even clicked over to prepare the coffee. It was truly still.

A short time later the padd on the coffee table flashed with the arrival of a new message, silent with the early morning. Absently she picked it up, expecting a routine message from Starfleet or some department reports. Instead it was a message from Zio, the woman who had assisted when Patina was born. It wasn't unusual for Zio to message, but Rhenoras gut dropped when she began to read.

'My dear Rhen, I hope you, Remal and dear little Patina are doing well. I write with concern for our future. The last few months have been harsh, there has been no rain for what seems like an age, everything is dying. Its worse than the occupation. People are beginning to steal and loot to feed themselves but this time there is no aggressor. The Federation won't help us, they say it's a natural weather system and they're short resources rebuilding after the war. We are starving, we need help. Can you help?'

The message ended and the screen went blank, leaving Rhenora feeling as though the heart beating within her chest had been ripped out still beating.

Standing the Captain of the Sunfire began to pace, thoughts whirling as she strategised how she was going to save her homeland. There were a few Admirals who still looked upon her favourably, she would ask them to send aid, to assign the Sunfire to the mission and let her lead.

The day was young ans she now had lots to do.
