Precious family (backpost}

Posted on Wed Jan 10th, 2024 @ 3:11pm by Lieutenant Alison Haldeman & Lieutenant Thomas Haldeman

Mission: Halloween
Location: Quarters
Timeline: Prior to delivery of the Haldeman's baby.

With everything that had happened, being possessed by an entity who’d taken control of her body and mind, and being stunned Alison was resting at home.

“Here you go mum” Amanda smiled as she brought her mother in a tray of snacks, and a drink.

“Thank you Mandy” Alison smiled warmly as she sat up supported by her cushion, with her cosy blanket over her legs.

Tom came into the room a few minutes later. A decidedly guilty look on his face. "How are you feeling Alie?" He asked keeping his distance. After all he had stunned her to prevent the entity from claiming her.

“As I’ve been telling everyone I feel fine!” Alie smiled as she gestured her husband across to the sofa to sit with her. “Stop giving me the guilty look, you did what you had to do and no harm done.”

"Tom moved slowly to the couch and sat down. "No harm done? I could have killed you and the baby Alie. I may have done what I had to do but I took no joy from it." He said softly.

“I know that Tom” Alie offered a gentle smile. “That...creature it took me over and I had no control over my own actions. I’m glad you did what was needed.”

Her words did little to make him feel better. "Maybe. I wish there had been another way." Tom answered from his position on the couch, which wasn't close to Alie.

“There wasn’t and you know it” Alison gave her husband a worried look. “You don’t have to sit so far away you know” she took the opportunity to eat some of the food on her tray. Mandy had already beat a hasty retreat to her room to let her parents talk.

"I know Alie, I know. But I still feel guilty over it and I'm sitting over here until I know you aren't going to clobber me." The last said with a small smile.

“Oh heavens! Get over here and kiss me!” Alie grinned as she gave Tom a longing look.

"Music to my ears." He smiled broadly as he slid over to Alie and then kissed her full on the lips. It was a kiss of a man who loved his wife very much and knew how fortunate he was to have her in his life.

Alie returned Tom’s kiss with all the love she felt for him. “When that...thing, was in control of me, I could hear my own voice but I couldn’t control my actions. It was me, but it wasn’t all at the same time.”

Tom put his arms around Alie and hugged her close to him. "That had to be terrifying Alie. Trapped inside your own body unable to control your actions. A prisoner."

Alison nodded. “I was, and I wasn’t, it’s hard to explain. I had such feelings of passion to begin with, then anger. I’m just glad it’s all over.”

Tom continued to hold her. "I was so worried I was going to lose you and the baby. I didn't want to face that not after losing Alex."

“You’re not losing either of us my love” Alison tried to be reassuring, knowing her husband needed to hear it. “We’re both fine, and I’m not going to let anything happen to our baby.”

"I couldn't stand it if something happened to you, Mandy or the baby. You are all my world." He smiled and caressed her cheek. "I know you won't, not a doubt in my mind."

Alie smiled as she enjoyed Tom’s caress. “Let’s sit and enjoy some family time, the three of us together.” She looked towards Mandy’s room. “Let Mandy know she can come out now.”

"I'd like that." Tom replied. As he stood up and walked to Mandy's door and knocked. "You can come out Mandy. I know you were listening." He teased. "Everything is perfectly fine."

“I knew it would be dad” Mandy smiled as she opened the door. “I just didn’t want to be in the way while you were talking to mum that’s all.”

"You are so considerate. The best daughter ever." Tom replied, "Come on we're going to have family night." As the pair headed back to Alie.

“Okay so what shall we do?” Alison looked at Tom and Mandy. “Movie? Game night? Ideas?”

"Good question Alie. I'm game for whatever you and Mandy want to do as both sound good to me." Tom replied with a smile.

“Let’s grab some snacks and some games!” Alison smiled. “If we’re finished early enough we can always fit in a movie too, let’s see how we do.”

"Works for me." Tom answered. "I'll get the drinks. Mandy you get the chips or pretzels and Alie you decide what game we're going to play."

Alison nodded. “Sounds good to me” She smiled as she watched the two of them going to get the food and drinks thinking what a very lucky woman she was.

As Tom got the drinks he stopped and looked back to where Alie sat on the couch and then to where Mandy was busy getting the snacks and thought how truly fortunate, he was. He and Alie had gone full circle and were now stronger and more in love than ever. Mandy was happy. The family unit had survived with a few scratches and dings but more united in their love for each other. He was truly blessed.
