Mission:
*CD*
Location: Conference Room
Timeline: After Big Talk
As the meeting broke up and the senior crew members were leaving, Savar spoke. Commanders Baldric, House and Kerr please stay, I wish a word with you all."
Dean actually didn't have to much more to say, though before he could finish standing up. He sat back down in the chair.
Jenn looked up as Savar spoke - preempting what was about to happen but saying nothing. She remained in her seat as the rest of the staff left until there was just the 4 of them in the room.
Finchley had stood up and was ready to head back to his position on the bridge when he was asked to stay. Sitting back down again, he turned to Savar and waited to hear why they'd all been asked to stay.
Savar looked at them in turn Baldric, House and Kerr. The former command team before his failing ill. However now he was back and had an announcement to make.
Balric waited patiently for Savar to speak, glancing around the table as she did so.
Finchley made eye contact with Jennifer as her glance fell on him. He nodded back to her as he waited to hear what was to be said to the group by the Captain.
Dean stood up as everyone was just looking at each other back and forth. "What I believe there was going to be mentioned, or I'm wrong. Is that considering the events that have gone on. The changes in command structure. This is to discuss the new one. Considering the past couple of weeks that Savar has been out of commission. Commander Balric and I have been promoted, temporarily up in position. Now that he's up and about again. There's a restructure yet again." Glancing to Savar, "Which I'm sure there will be questions."
"Mr. House, please sit down." Savar said calmly. Once he had, Savar spoke again. "You are partially correct Mr. House. You will remain as my Executive Officer. Mr. Kerr will remain Second Officer and Commander Baldric will return to Mission Advisor. In addition both yours and Commander Baldric's promotions will stay in place until decided otherwise." He looked at the trio as he finished, "Any questions?"
Finchley looked straight at Savar and said "No questions at all, Sir."
Turning to Dean he said "Congratulations on your confirmation Sir."
Looking at Jennifer he added "I look forward to continuing working with you Commander."
" As I look forward working with you all" Jennifer added with a demurred smile. She wasn't expecting to remain in the command team and was happy to act as mission advisor for the duration of the Sunfire's time in the Gamma Quadrant. " No questions from myself Sirs"
"I take it this arrangement meets with your approval as well Mr. House?" Savar asked his new First Officer.
Dean had sat down. Giving nods to those giving congratulations. Looking to Savar, "As long as they are with everyone else."
"Why would they not be Sir?" Finchley asked Dean.
"Indeed. Why would they not be Mr. House? Please explain your answer." Savar asked.
There was a look between the two of them, then Jennifer as well. Dean looked back to Savar, "I don't wish to step on any toes, is all. Other than that, yes, it's fine with me."
"I don't understand Sir" Finchley replied, looking at Dean slightly puzzled "How are you stepping on anyones toes?"
"With the simple fact of, for now, moving up, and now that Savar is back. Still left in the position for now." Looking to Jennifer exclusively, "Because you were picked as CO while Savar was in Sickbay, ma'am."
" Yes but only until Savar was well again. When this mission is over I'll be assigned elsewhere - it's the nature of the game I'm in. An XO assignment is long term however" Jennifer shrugged her shoulders.
"Mr. House, you are the executive officer of this ship. Commander Baldric is it's mission advisor and Mr. Kerr is second officer. You each have an important role on this ship and it's command structure" Savar replied patiently..
"If I may interject, I do believe the Command structure you've chosen will prove to be a strong and benificial one to the entire Sunfire crew and to Starfleet Captain as each of us bring different strengths to the table" Finchley said to Savar "I was further looking to ask how you'll be asking us to proceed in our mission regards to the latest information we've gathered?"
Dean raised an eyebrow a moment at Jennifer, her implication that she was leaving, but left the question to himself for now. "Then I suppose we should get to work, like Commander Finchley just suggested."
Jennifer looked at Savar then at the rest of the new command team. "Indeed we should, from what I know about Ferengi they very rarely rescue themselves"
"Please bring me up to date as to where we are in regard to the Ferengi and this nebula we have encountered." Savar inquired.
" We have no further information from what was conveyed in the meeting" Jennifer replied, indicating the pads on the table. "Now that you're well again I suggest we hop to it"
"A most logical assessment Commander. Let us indeed hop to it." Savar replied, "That is if there is nothing else."
Dean stood up. "Thank you all for the confidence. We have again, work to do. We can give any other information as we get it, and to the respective departments as needed. On the Bridge." Motioning his head to the doors. "Lets go to work."
"A most logical observation Mr. House." Savar said rising from his chair. He looked at Kerr and Baldric, "As Mr. House says, let us get to it."
