Two Days and Two Nights (Part 2)

Mission: Gamma Quadrant
Location: DS9

ON:

Harper got to Quark’s bar, and there sat this woman; he still did not know her name. Walking up, he said down and said, “I never caught your name.” She smiled and said, “That is because I never threw it.” Harper did not know what to say.

Thinking for a minute, he replied,
“What should I call you then?”

A minute went by, and she replied, “My name is Marlene Chambers.” She then continued, “I am a new commissioned Ensign from Star-Fleet Academy on my first assignment. You?”
Harper responded,

“My Story is much less interesting. I am part of the Starfleet Civilian Corps. I am assigned to a Starship that is docked here for the next few days. I am the ship’s cook.”

“Ahh,” she replied, “A man that can cook….”
Harper commented, “Yes, but enough about me…what about you? Tell me all about you….”

Just then, the bartender walked up,

“What can I get your, sir?”

Harper smiled and responded, “Diet Pepsi, please. In the can. It is an ancient earth drink; you should be able to find its makeup in the computer.

Giving him a weird look, the bartender replied, “Sorry, the best I can do is….”Root Beer.” Harper looked up and responded, “That will do fine. Thank you.”

Harper got his drink, and the two sat at the bar for hours talking about various topics. Finally, the bartender indicated that it was closing time, and Ensign Chambers commented, “I think I should go now.”

“Well, can we meet tomorrow for breakfast,” asked Harper.
“We will see what the morning brings,” she replied.

With that, Harper went to his quarters. This woman was the more exciting person he had ever met, yet she was also so elusive.
