Recall

Mission:
Gamma Quadrant
Location: Bridge
Within short order all personnel bar Commanders Savar and Kerr were beamed from the first Bajoran ship. They all transported into the small transporter rooms, medical teams were waiting as Dr Wilson beamed the most critically injured first. A short moment later Counsellor Vali beamed in with another group of frightened people.
"Captain to Transporter Room 1 - Counsellor - what's the status of the refugees?" She asked, knowing that Dr Wilson would have her hands well and truly full at the moment.
Aurora tapped her comm badge. “They’re all in pretty good shape Captain, some minor wounds but those who needed to see the doctor most urgently have already been beamed to Sickbay. I’ll get everyone to the holodeck for now, at least I can offer them a pleasant environment that will help to entertain them there. I’ll get to work on temporary accommodation for them once they’re settled.”
" Good work Counsellor" Rhenora replied, breathing a sigh of relief. She was confident both Savar and Finchley could diffuse whatever explosive device was left over there.
Meanwhile in Sickbay Dr Sarah Wilson was working with the injured refugee's, doing what she could as she worked to triage and prioritise their care. There were numerous patients in various stages of ill health but this kind of influx was what she lived for. She could however use a few extra hands.
" Wilson to Vali, could you spare a minute to help us in sickbay?" She called through the comm- knowing full well that Aurora would be busy sorting out accomodations for the refugees.
Aurora was just about wrapped up as Sarah’s voice came over the comms. “I’m on my way Sarah, I’ll be there as soon as I can.”
"Appreciated Aurora, we're a little swamped here" Sarah moved from bed to bed, motioning for one of her nurses to assist with triage as they moved. She needed Aurora to help reassure the patients, keep them calm until they could be treated.
Aurora headed for Sickbay, coughing somewhat on her way. It seemed the smoke she inhaled on the bridge of the Bajoran ship had irritated her chest somewhat. It didn’t take long before she arrived at Sickbay, she wasn’t surprised to see how busy it was. She coughed clearing her airways before approaching Sarah, “Anywhere in particular you want me?”
"Hey, thanks for coming so quickly" Sarah smiled harridly as she injected an antibiotic and analgesic into one of her patients " I need you to reassure those that are waiting, be the friendly face, talk to them and let them know we're going to help them" She continued, moving onto the next patient. Whilst they carriers hadn't been packed with people there was still more people than beds and staff at the moment.
Aurora nodded. “I’ll do that, when you’re done with everyone can I bother you to run a quick scan? I think I inhaled a little too much of the smoke over there.”
"Two secs" Sarah finished up with the patient she was working on then turned her tricorder to Aurora. Her lungs and airway were irritated but there would be no long term damage if treated. She soaked a handy hypo for trioxin and added a analgesic for good measure and injected it in the counsellors neck. "This'll take care of it" she smiled as she was called by a nurse to the far end of the room. The next few hours were going to be busy.
"Thank you Sarah" Aurora smiled as she got back to helping the refugees, though she couldn't help but wonder when Savar would return. Knowing he was dealing with a bomb was a worry.
As a team the sickbay staff moved around the full sickbay, slowly but methodically treating all that needed it from the most critical cases to those that needed nothing more than a good meal, rest and reassurance. Aurora did a marvellous job with those, allow Sarah the time to work with the more critical cases. Several hours passed until the CMO finally stepped back and cast a weary eye over the now calm sickbay.
" Whew....I think we may be under control" She said, casting an eye over to the ship's counsellor.
Aurora was just as shattered as Sarah, this was the longest shift she'd done since Sidak was born. "Thank heavens for that!" Aurora yawned, "I'm completely shattered. I could sleep for a week."
" Take some time" Sarah made her way over to Aurora and gave her a hug " Thank you for what you did today - you made a huge difference to a lot of these people" She said with a tired smile. Even as she spoke a series of crewman arrived to take those that were well enough to the cargobays where temporary accommodation had been set up for the short trip back to DS9.
"Has there been any news from the bridge?" Aurora looked at Sarah concernedly. "Did they manage to diffuse the bomb okay?"
" I haven't heard - I know the away teams haven't returned yet so I'm assuming it's still a work in progress" Sarah admitted as stowed some of her equipment away again.
A short time later news arrived that the away teams had returned, causing a collective sigh of relief from everyone present. Soon they would be on their way back to DS9.
