More surprises

Returning from Sickbay to meet up with Tom and Mandy, Alison was grinning from ear to ear as she walked into their quarters.

Tom saw Alie's grin. He turned to Mandy, "Looks like someone got some good news from the doctors."

“I think the two of you should sit down...” She looked at Tom and Mandy. “Err it seems that I’m... having twins!” She waited for her husband and daughter’s responses.

Tom opened his mouth but no sound game out, he was so taken back by the news. Finally his brain got the message and he wrapped his arms around her. "Twins?! Alie that is fantastic!!!!!!!

Mandy looked at her mother before walking over and giving her a big hug too. “That’s wonderful mum! Do you know what you’re having?”

Alison shook her head. “Not yet, but I plan to ask at my next scan.”

Tom smiled, this was wonderful news! He looked to Mandy, "So, Mandy how would you feel about having another sister or two?" He asked a huge smile on his face.

Mandy looked between her parents, “Actually I’d like a... baby brother again.” She offered a teary smile as she thought of her deceased brother.

Alison offered her daughter a comforting hug. “You know what, I would like another son, in memory of your brother.”

'I think a boy and a girl would be nice." Tom added even the odds a little bit in the family. Right now I'm out numbered." He joked.

Alison nodded. “I’d like that too, but you’d still be outnumbered!” She grinned as she looked at Thomas. “You do realise we’re going to need twice as many supplies! That shopping trip just got more expensive.”

"That's true." Tom answered with a smile. "We may need twice as many supplies but what a great reason for the added expense."

Alison grinned. “Now if that’s not an invite for a shopping spree I don’t know what is! Let’s get going.”

Tom chuckled at Alie's eagerness. "What are we waiting for?" He replied as he extended his hand to her.

Taking her husband’s hand Alison gripped it with a happy smile. This was going to be a fun shopping trip.

Tom smiled at his wife. Happy, really happy for the first time in what seemed forever.

~ Sometime later ~

Alison walked along grinning from ear to ear, “Well that was a lucky find, we just happened to come across the most gorgeous wooden crib just perfect for twins! I had to buy it! Let’s see what else... Ohh the bedding, unisex baby clothes, maternity wear and...” she lowered her voice so not to be overheard, ‘lingerie for me. Plus Mandy got something as well, I guess that just leaves you to get whatever you’d like Tom.”

Tom smiled at Alie, "I agree Alie, I love the crib and the clothing we got for the twins. Glad Mandy found something as well. Love the lingerie you found. As for me, I have what I want.... A family."

Alison smiled as she took her husband’s hand. “Forever my love, no matter what the future holds for us.” She stifled a yawn. “I’m sorry, this pregnancy is taking a lot out of me already.”

Tom smiled brightly at Alie's words. "Yes forever my darling." He agreed as he turned his head to give Alie a light kiss on the cheek. "Nothing to be sorry for Alie. You are going to need all the energy you have when the twins are born."

Alison nodded. “The doctor told me to rest when I needed to, she said carrying twins is a big strain on the body. Would you mind if we head back to the ship?”

Tom shook his head, "Of course not Alie. I want what is best for you and the babies. we can have a nice family meal back on the ship. Or if you prefer Mandy and I can whip something up for us."

Alison nodded. “That would be lovely Tom, thank you.”

"Your welcome Alie. I'm sure between Mandy and myself we can come up with something we are all going to enjoy."

“I’m sure we can dad” Mandy smiled as she walked up to her parents. “Let’s go back and let mum get some rest, I’ve got an idea what we can do.”

"That's the spirit Mandy!" Tom told their daughter, "I can't wait to see what your idea is. next stop the Elysium."
