Aurora was sitting feet up enjoying a little quiet time while N’vea was at nursery, she’d been keeping herself away from everyone else having contracted a case of Laryngitis, ever glad that she could talk telepathically with Savar as she’d barely had a voice. She was starting to feel better now, she had messaged Sarah hoping she would approve her return to duty.
Dr Wilson replied, asking Aurora to stop by sickbay at her convenience for a quick checkup.
As requested Aurora made her way to Sickbay, walking in she offered Sarah a warm smile. “Hi Sarah” her voice was still a little raspy but at least she had a voice.
"Hey" Sarah smiled, waving Aurora over to a vacant biobed. "You still sound a little croaky" she observed, picking up a tricorder and beginning to take a few readings. "How are you feeling?"
“Better than I was, at least I got my voice mostly back” Aurora smiled. “I just wish I knew where I picked this up.”
"Sometimes when your body is really run down and tired, it's way more susceptible to small things that turn into big things" Sarah reassured as she ran the tricorder down the length of Aurora's body. "Your white cells are still showing as elevated - they're still fighting, but if you're feeling better then they are winning"
“That’s good then, I’d like to get back to some of my duties though I don’t think I’m quite up to a full day on my feet yet. That’s the beauty of being a Counsellor, it’s a sit down job.” She smiled. “I take it I’m not at risk of passing this on to anyone?”
From the door a voice spoke, "How is the patient Doctor? Will she survive." Savar's voice held a gentle teasing for his wife. "She looks as beautiful as ever even if her voice is patchy." he observed,
"The problem with your job is that you need to talk a lot, and that's going to stress your healing voicebox. Rest, lots of warm fluids and a light schedule will do you wonders over the next few days" Sarah advised as she wrote some notes on a padd. She turned to Savar "She'll live, but you need to make sure she doesn't have to use her vocie too much"
"I am greatly relieved to hear that Aurora will survive. I would miss her company." Savar answered and continued, "I shall see that she does rest your voice and follow your instructions Sarah,"
"I'm sure Aurora is capable of making the appropriate choices" Sarah said with a smile on her face. " but she's on a light duty roster. No ifs or buts, now shoo" she waved towards the door.
Savar inclined his head in a short nod. "You are of course right Doctor. However you don't mind if make sure Aurora doesn't over do it? She has a tendency to push herself like some other medical officers I know."
There was a flicker of amusement across Sarah's face that vanished just as quickly. " I will leave that to your best judgement Commander" She said formally, noting on Aurora's file the particulars of the next few days that she would have to adhere to in order to make a full recovery.
"Thank you Doctor. I shall not give you reason to regret your decision." Savar bantered back with Sarah. "Aurora will adhere to your medical orders and rest her voice as you have prescribed."
"Very well then, I will release her back to quarters. Drop in and see me if it gets any worse" Sarah smiled and signed off on Aurora's light duty regime. "Go...be restful"
“Thank you Sarah” Aurora nodded and smiled. “I’ll adhere to your rules, that I promise.”
"Be sure that you do" Sarah replied with mock seriousness. "Now go and enjoy your shore leave"
"Come Aurora, let us get you back to our quarters where you can rest and recover." Savar replied before adding, "Thank you for your usual expert care Doctor."
Aurora smiled as she joined Savar, her voice was going to need to be rested if she wanted it fully back so she needed to follow Sarah’s advice to the letter.
