Aurora stirred from her sleep, she had no clue how long she’d been asleep. At first she was confused then it all came flooding back to her, she lifted her head breathing a sigh of relief as she saw Savar sitting waiting. “Hey...” She offered a smile. “The baby? Is the baby alright?”

"Hello Aurora." Savar greeted his wife. "Dr. Wilson assures me the baby is fine. How do you feel?" He asked. "Captain Kaylen is here as well."

Aurora relaxed. “I’m okay, tired and a little sore but I guess that’s to be expected.” She tried to sit up but to little avail as her body protested due to lack of strength. “Can I... hold him? The baby is a boy isn’t it?”

Savar met her look, "I confess I do not know. Dr. Wilson merely said the baby was healthy."

" Yes it's a baby boy, a healthy happy boy who wants to spend time with his mother" Sarah handed the tiny bundle over to Aurora, carefully watching for any signs of rejection.

Savar was silent as Sarah handed the baby to Aurora. "Excuse me Doctor have you been able to determine what species the child is?"

" Not yet, we're still running genetic sequences through the Federation medical database. So far we have no matches" Sarah admitted "We're not going to stop looking though"

"Very well. Please keep me posted as to your results" Savar said stiffly.

Even in her tired state Aurora couldn’t help but notice Savar’s lack of interest in the baby. Not that she really blamed him. Aurora smiled at the child she was holding, even though the baby wasn’t hers she couldn’t help but feel a connection. “Do we know... what the baby needs for nourishment?”

" Your body thinks the baby is yours and is producing milk, you can try direct feeding if you feel comfortable, otherwise we can try a range of infant formulations that may do the job" Sarah explained. "What we do know is the baby is carbon based, with similar biological system as most humanoids."

Amethyst nodded. “I’d like to try feeding him, if he thinks I’m his mother then he’ll obviously want to feed.” She looked at Savar almost wishing he’d take more of an interest even though the child wasn’t his.

Savar saw the look Aurora gave him and he knew he should try to form a bond with the baby if for no other reason than for Aurora and not cause her any undo stress. "I can watch him while you sleep and rest Aurora." He volunteered.

Sarah offered some instruction and some assistance before leaving the new family to their privacy.

Doing her best to feed her baby, Aurora offered her husband a smile. “That would be nice once he’s finished feeding.” She smiled at the baby. “I don’t even know what to call him.”

Savar nodded. "He can be named Sidak." He offered to Aurora.

“Sidak, What does it mean?” Aurora looked at Savar curiously.

"It means out of two." Savar replied calmly looking at Aurora holding the baby boy and realizing how natural it looked.

Aurora nodded. “I like it, it seems appropriate.” She smiled as she watched Sidak happily feeding. He wasn’t like any species she’d seen before except the slight image in her mind of his true mother. “I know he’s not mine Savar, but I will love and care for him until his true mother comes for him.”

"I would expect no less from you Aurora. It shows your exceptional character and compassion. I... too will help you with Sidak." Savar answered as Sidak and Aurora bonded as mother and son.

Rhenora smiled as the family started to come together. She passed on her congratulations then quietly excused herself to they could have some quiet time together.

“Ohh... Captain!” Aurora called to Rhenora. “I’m sorry! I totally forgot you were there! Thank you for coming.”

"It was my pleasure Aurora, I came to provide support for yourself and Savar during these new experiences" The Captain smiled, realising that in a few short months that would be herself and Remal.

“Well I appreciate it Captain” Aurora smiled warmly.

"You're more than welcome. Now enjoy your time with this tiny creature you birthed. I believe he's hungry" the Bajoran smirked a little.
