Personal Log - Lieutenant Archer

Posted on Tue Jul 21st, 2020 @ 9:53am by Commander Andrew Archer

ON:

Andrew walked into his quarters, which were notably warmer than they were earlier when he had first arrived. He’d been unable to find the Captain today to report in, but sensed that he was onboard the Starbase.

Taking a seat on the couch, he pulled at his collar. It was tight. Either he’d put a little weight on or his neck had swelled in the warmth of his quarters.

“Computer, begin Chief Science Officer’s log,” the familiar tones of the computer rang out to let Archer know his command had been acknowledged, “I was unable to locate the Captain this afternoon, but my empathic abilities lead me to conclude that he is currently still on Starbase 10.”

Andrew put his arms behind his head and interlocked his fingers, “I did explore the bridge, however. I inspected both Science consoles located at the aft of the bridge. They seem in order and scanners appear well configured.” He paused for a moment and smiled, “I saw an interesting chap while I was on the bridge; a Tellarite. He gave me a funny look, but I sensed that he was only curious about me... and about my beard in particular.”

Andrew felt his beard and realised it had grown slightly longer than he would prefer. Good first impressions were important; and he needed to exude professionalism, particularly since he’d only transferred to the ship that morning. “Computer, remind me to trim this beard of mine prior to tomorrow’s shift commencing. Nothing major, just a tidy up and a trim.”

The computer chirped, “Acknowledged.”

“Computer, end log.”

Andrew got to his feet and started to remove his uniform. He took the two golden pips from his collar and placed them carefully on his desk. He wondered what tomorrow would bring.
