767 words; about a 4 minute read

Mission: Masimal
Location: Isolation, Sickbay

Being in isolation made Aurora feel the need to call Savar, he was her beloved husband and if anything happened to her she needed to hear his voice before it did. Requesting to speak with Savar she waited for him to respond.

On the planet's surface, Savar was surprised by a call from Aurora aboard the Sunfire. "Aurora, I am pleased as always to hear your voice. However, I am puzzled as to why you are calling." He replied and paused as he felt something 'off' in the bond they shared. "What is it Aurora?" he questioned.

“I just…” Aurora paused, she couldn’t make up a story to Savar. “I’m infected Savar, Dean is too.” She paused. “We’re okay at the moment, it seems being half Vulcan is holding up the infection.”

A moment of silence as Savar took in what Aurora had said. He closed his eyes and steeled himself, slipping further into the Vulcan rigidness as he took the news in. "How did this happen Aurora? Are you experiencing any symptoms? Your Vulcan physiology and copper based blood might be able to provide a defense against the virus." While silently he sent to her, *My love. What can I do help you? What do you need of me?*

Aurora answered the spoken questions first. “We had an unexpected transport in from the surface, desperate people trying to escape. They got into the lab and I had nowhere to go.” She paused. “I’ve got a headache, a raised temperature, but I’m managing to hold out thanks to my Vulcan half.” She offered the best smile she could muster, then answered his unsaid questions. *Just hearing your voice, and seeing your face gives me more strength.*

"An unfortunate." occurrence to be sure." He said simply while continuing. "Your body is providing you with partial immunity, fighting the virus and holding it at bay it seems. Let us hope it continues to do so." Silently he sent. *As your voice and face does me. I wish I could provide more than emotional support for you my love. I will make it up to you. That is a promise.*

“We’re waiting to see if the Captain agrees with my idea that Dean and I could go to the surface, we’re already infected so we could move around more freely.” Aurora paused. “I know you’d normally disagree with anything that would put me in harms way. *Trust me Imzadi, I don’t know how long we have.*

Savar listened As Aurora told him of her idea to come to the surface and search for a clue in treating the virus. "You are correct Aurora, I normally would prefer to protect you from harm and possible danger. However not knowing the incubation period of the virus. I agree that is the best plan that we have available. As you said time is a luxury we do not have right now." Silently he added, *My trust in you walks hand in hand with my love for you. Both never waver.* Aloud he said again. "I am going to try to communicate with the fungus. Perhaps that will also provide us with some answers."

“Just be safe Imzadi” Aurora gave her husband a worried look. “Don't put yourself in danger.”

*Aurora, my precious and much loved wife. there is no danger I would not face to protect and keep you safe.* Savar sent back to her.

Aurora couldn't help but smile at that, just hearing Savar's thoughts and feeling the emotion he coveyed made her feel better. "I'll keep fighting this, that I promise you."

"I know you will Aurora, you are a fighter and I also know you will use every fiber within you to fight this. I will support and add my strength to yours to this. We are in this together." Savar replied. Then sent his love to her, so only Aurora knew of it.

Aurora felt it, she always felt it and Savar knew that. She returned it with every fibre of her being. “I should let you get back, take care Imzadi.”

"You heed your own advice my love and take care of yourself. We should be back aboard in a relatively short period of time. Hopefully we will be bringing answers with us."

“I hope so Imzadi” Aurora offered a smile. “I'll see you soon, even if it’s just through the windows of the isolab.”

"That is a promise you can hold onto Aurora. I will indeed see you soon and I confident we will soon be reunited."
