Exit strategy pt 2

Mission: Planet of the Dinosaurs
Location: Caves

The rustle of movement on the other side of their boulders put an end to any more discussion. Rhenora moved higher over the boulders, the sliver of sunlight the only light in the gloom. The movement caused the creature to growl deep in it's throat, threatening any who dared approach it's den.

As she moved the marksman took her position, flicking the rifle to maximum power but not firing until the creature was in position. It was too large to take down with one half charged rifle alone, their only option was to cause a cave-in.

"Hey! Over here!" Rhenora shouted, cringing at the cliche even as the words left her mouth. The creature's tail whipped dangerously as it turned towards her, teeth bared. She just had to maneuver it under the crack in the roof long enough for the rifle to do its job.

It lunged, causing her to run and duck under it's teeth, them snapping shut a hair's breadth from her scalp. A few telltale strands hanging from it's jaws a testimony to the close call.

She heard the whine of the rifle increase, ready to fire when the creature turned towards the marksman.

"Oh no you don't, Hey! Down here!" She grabbed a nearby rock and pegged it towards the creature's head, scoring it just under the eye and causing a large gash to open. The roar was deafening and it was most definitely now very pissed.

"Fire!" No sooner had the words left her mouth the rifle discharged, a trickle of rocks from the ceiling turning into barrage as the roof caved in around them. The creature was buried underneath the pile, and it seemed so was the Captain.
