Location: Various areas of the Sunfire
Timeline: After Away Team Final
Savar stood outside the captain's ready room. He had a PaDD in his hand that contained information he needed to discuss with her. The information was important but not critical to the operation of the Sunfire. However, knowing the captain as he did he knew she would want to look into this immediately.
Straightening his tunic, he reached a hand out and pressed the door chime to allow him entrance.
Rhenora looked up from the report she was reading about the investigation into the AI, mulling over the implications as she sipped absently the coffee that Ronson had made a short time ago.
"Come in" she called, not having any scheduled meetings but always happy to chat with anyone about anything.
Hearing Rhenora's voice beckon him to come in, Savar did just that. Entering the ready room, he stopped a respectful distance from her desk. "Captain, I hope I am not intruding, taking you away from a task."
"Never are you intruding Commander" Rhenora smiled as she saw Savar enter her workspace with a padd in his hand. "What brings you here, please, take a seat" she nodded towards the chair opposite and closed the report she had been reading on the desktop monitor..Ronson appeared a few moments later with a cup of Vulcan tea and a morsel for them both.
"Most kind of you to say Captain and as I am unsure of the validity of the statement. I will accept it at face value." Savar replied as he sat down. "As to what brings me here, it is this." He answered as he handed her the PaDD showing several departments were past due on inspections from the command team.
"Ouch, we're a little behind schedule looking at that" Rhenora wrinkled her nose a little as she looked at the outstanding departments. "You propose we remedy this promptly?"
Savar inclined his head, "I believe it would be to both our and the ship's benefit if did handle this in a prompt manner Captain."
She looked at her schedule for the next few days, being a couple of blank spaces that would be perfect. "I have 1500 hours this afternoon, and a few spaces tomorrow, shall we give them notice or call it an impromptu inspection?" She enquired, sipping from the coffee cup.
"I believe to get the most honest evaluation of the departments in question and their personnel, our inspections should be impromptu Captain." Savar answered as he reached for his glass of tea.
"I agree, although we have been through a bit of a rough patch, I believe some repairs are still taking place" the Captain admitted, feeling somewhat responsible as she always did when things didn't quite go to plan.
Savar nodded, "You are correct Captain. Some repairs are still ongoing. However those will not be taken into consideration and not be a factor in the departments overall fitness." Savar pointed out.
"True, I was more concerned about those doing the repairs than the repairs themselves. This crew has been through a lot, although Starfleet won't see that as a reason not to conduct the usual inspections" she mused to herself. "So where do we begin?
Savar nodded at Renora's take on the inspections. "Captain's prerogative," He answered a slight grin on his face as he put her on the spot and waited for her reply.
Rhenora paused for a moment, rubbing her chin thoughtfully. "I believe we should do Engineering first, followed by sickbay, the Armory, the brig, and tactical systems" she made some notes in a handy padd to keep track.
"I find your itinerary to be perfectly logical and acceptable Captain. My compliments." Savar said with a nod of his head as he finished his tea.
" Fabulous, I'll meet you outside Engineering at 1500 hours then" Rhenora smiled as she saved the itinerary and forward a copy to Savar for his reference.
"That is most agreeable Captain. I look forward to carrying out and completing these inspections. I believe they will be most informative." Savar replied.
" Very well then, I'll see you then" the Captain smiled then returned to her desk, eager to get a few more reports out of the way before they would start their inspections.
