Reporting for her first duty assignment post graduation from Star Fleet Academy

Location: Deck 4, outside the CSO office.

Newly minted Ensign Kitiuas materialized on USS Sunfire and looked around. "Well, this is it, my new home and duty assignment" she thought. "It was beautiful graduation ceremony, and what a surprise that they allowed my Step-father; Lakkak Thenis, a simple Warrant Security Officer in the Federation Merchant Marine, pin my Ensign rank on." as she thought back to that moment she smiled. Spotting, the transporter technician the meticulous dressed Orion stated " Ensign Kitiuas Thenis request permission to board and report for duty" She could see her appearance had startled the young human male, "Please rest assured young man that my Orion pheromonal effects are well suppressed." she stated with a coy smile. The young transporter technician stammered out "Permission granted. and Welcome aboard the Sunfire, Sir." With that Kitiuas stepped down from the transporter pad. "Can you please tell me which deck I transported on, I have to report to Lieutenant Avarak and I am informed he spends a great deal of his time in the science lab, if he isn't in the CSO office." The transporter technician again stammered " You are in Transporter Room 1 on Deck 2; you will need to take a turbolift to Deck 4." With that Ensign Kitiuas smiled and said, "Thank you, I believe I can find my way." she stated holding up the PADD with her orders and information on the Sunfire on it. She made her way through the doors and down the hallway towards the nearest turbolift, again getting several startled looks from other crew members she passed. "You would think that these people had never seen an Orion" she mused privately as she stepped on the Turbolift and stated, "Deck 4". The turbolift started to move and Kitiuas began to mentally review what she knew of her superior officer, Lieutenant Avarak. He was a male Vulcan who was considered a brilliant physicist who had published many papers, several of which were cited. The interesting thing of note was that he did not attend the Vulcan Science Academy, but the University of Alpha Centauri. "Well the good thing is we will not be competing in the same fields of research, after all I am supposedly the 'Wild, crazy monster hunter' because of my doctoral degrees" she thought with an amused smile. The turbolift stopped on Deck 4 and she consulted her PADD and made her way to the CSO office, ignoring the looks she was receiving "After all I know my uniform and hair are done impeccably" she thought as she touched the door chime to the CSO office and waited to be granted entry.
