Packing

Mission: *CD*
Location: Baldric's Quarters

Commander Jennifer Baldric looked around the quarters she had called home for the short period of time she had been on board the Sunfire. There wasn't much to back, she'd brought very little with her thinking that the assignment would be somewhat brief, and indeed it had been but it had served the purpose she hoped it would. It had brought her to the attention of Starfleet Command, a point of difference amongst all the other candidates vying for command positions in the fleet.

Carefully placing the few personal items had had brought with her into the storage case, and the several items of clothing into her duffle she paused and surveyed the journey of her life and career. Was this was it came to? Travelling light and leaving at a moment's notice to whatever next adventure called her? Taking only a very few books and the clothes that fit into her shoulder duffle?

The war had taken a terrible toll on the Federation, and upon all those who resided within. Families had been killed in combat or in ruthless raids on their planets, starships shot from the sky decimating Starfleet's resources on both ships and those that crewed them. The higher the ranking officer on board the more of a target those ships seemed to have painted on their hulls. Now that the war was over, there was a huge hole within the fleet, many command level officers had been killed and those left traumatised. The up and coming were mentored by the battle weary in an attempt to stop the atrocities happening again. They could only hope for success.

Jenn snapped closed the case and shouldered the duffle, taking one last look around her spartan guest quarters on the Sunfire before heading towards the pylon that tethered the wounded starship to the station. She had a few hours on the station before her connecting transport arrived and would be off on a new adventure aboard the Blaxland.

Somehow though, deep in her gut, she knew she'd be back at some point.
