Command Recert

Mission:
Gamma Quadrant
Location: Ready Room
The message had come directly from Starfleet Command, fully endorsed by the senior admiralty and rubber stamped by every senior department leader in the fleet. In the aftermath of the war Command had decided that all Senior officers needed to undergo psychological evaluation and resit the bridge officer’s practical examination on an annual basis. A trip back to Earth for every Starship would be impractical so the authority was given to conduct scenario based assessments using the ship’s holodecks and would transmit the recording back to Command for evaluation. This coupled with the report submitted by the ship’s counsellor would provide the evidence they needed to make an informed decision.
The Sunfire’s Captain groaned as she read the directive, one to be undertaken immediately. First off the rank was herself, followed by Command Savar and the rest of the senior staff. Anyone who was on the Command roster would be required to be evaluated. Just as Rhenora has stopped questioning her moral compass after the last battle with the Jem Hadar, it was about to be called into question again. She read the detail of the examination, the exact specifications of the scenario were of course restricted beyond even her clearance level. The one and only time she had been required to sit the assessment was back on Earth after transferring from the Militia to Starfleet on the Command track. It was dreaded by just about everyone - apart from Vulcan’s that is who deemed it to be a sufficient judge of character and experience.
With Aurora on maternity leave and Savar her XO, it would fall to Remal to write the psychological report and oversee the scenario, a task she was sure he wouldn't be overly thrilled with. Still there was no time to waste - the sooner it was done the sooner it was behind her. Checking the holodeck bookings she booked out Holodeck one on her authority for the next week. Whilst it wouldn’t be used for the exams constantly during that time she felt that it should be available should anyone wish to sit a practice scenario.
With a sigh she forwarded the communication to those who would be affected, and continued on with her preparations.
