Mission: The Haunting of Deck 12
Location: DS9

After a long two months at DS9 undergoing repairs, the USS Sunfire waa ready to take her place back in open space. The teams of Engineers had worked minor and major miracles to get the ship spaceworthy again, particularly in a parts shortage following the war.

Those crew returning had come aboard the previous day, those departing for greener pastures had been bade a fond farewell, and those arriving for the first time did so with a certain level of trepidation. The Sunfire had a reputation for living on the edge of the regulations, accompishing the most daring missions against the harshest odds. Her crew were tight knit, and trusted each other implicitly.

"Ops reports we are cleared for departure" came the announcement from the ship's operations officer.

"Release docking clamps, thrusters full reverse until we clear the station." Captain Kaylen ordered smoothly, standing for the first portion of the disengagement.

The Sunfire shuddered ever so slightly as the docking clamps disengaged, a moment of almost suspension before the thrusters fired, moving the mighty Akira class ship backwards away from the former Cardassian station.

"Bearing 257 mark 4, thursters ahead full, then 1/4 impulse to the wormhole." Kaylen returned to her seat and sat comfortably, "Ops, signal all senior officers to the briefing room in 10 minutes"

10 minutes later the senior officers filed in and took their places at the long table, faces refreshed and ready for their next mission. They looked up expectantly.

"Thank you for coming, Command has sent through the details for our next mission. It involves a routine survey mission of a J class nebula that had formed near the wormhole, just beyond Dominion space. These nebula's are short lived, filled with dueterium and can be highly volatile." Rhenora explained, bringing up a starchart with the nebula clearly marked. "I feel they are trying to keep us out of harms way, a least for the time being"

Given the routine nature of the mission there were few questions. The wormhole loomed large and the nebula awaited on the other side.
