Mission: Status of the Tribes
Location: Shuttle Marquis/Ready Room, USS Sunfire
Timeline: Current

It had been a whirlwind extraction for Sandy. Word had come to him to get in touch with his mission contact and when he had done so the message he received was a 'we're pulling you out now!' one.

He didn't question it, he had long ago accepted that missions could be altered and orders could changed...before things were completed. Here he was now, onboard shuttle Marquis on his way to a previous posting. Given his rank and also his seniority in the Intelligence community, he'd been told why he'd been pulled out of his previous mission and found himself back on his way to the USS Sunfire, now under a new CO.

As they approached the ship he heard the pilot ask for, and receive, permission to land. Once they'd touched down and Sandy had gotten permission to come onboard, he asked for his belongings to be stored and he'd get them later.

He knew his way to the CO's Ready Room and very shortly he stood outside. Tapping the chime he awaited an answer from within.

Sandy "Ghost" Shannon was still digesting the stunning news of being assigned as the captain of her ship. The chime made her jump a little as it sounded. 'Wonder who that is? I'm not expecting anyone.....," she said, "Enter".

The doors opened and Sandy entered. Walking up to the CO's desk he stopped just short and presented his transfer orders PADD.

"Commander Sandy Thomson reporting for duty as requested Captain" he said, staring straight ahead.

"At ease Commander Thomson, and please have a seat," Sandy said taking the PADD from him. Looking through the information, "Well I see you were the XO before. Glad to have you return to us....," she added.

Sandy took the offered seat, nodding his thanks as he did. It was an odd thing for the CO to say that she saw he'd been XO before, after all they'd been friends, had something changed?

"Yes Sir...it's good to be back" he answered, kind of awkwardly.

"This is going to be an adventure for both of us yet again. Two command officers who share the same first name," Sandy said chuckling. It was nice to have Sandy back again. Not much had changed since he left but to have him back as her number one was going to be a big help to her in getting settled into her new role. "How do we overcome the name problem? I have a nickname, or call sign but calling me Cptn Ghost might make people a bit weird. Of course it could be Shannon...... How about you Commander?" she said chuckling.

"Well, with you Sir, I have no problem calling you Captain Ghost around the crew, and to be honest, I think they'll get used to it, after all, the vast majority of them will call you simply Captain or Sir. In private, if it's just the two of us, then you'll need to let me know what to call you" Sandy replied.

"In regards to myself" he continued "people I've known for a long time and fellow officers often just call me 'Thomo', short for Thomson, so I have no problem with that if you're ok with it?" he finished.

"I'm fine with that Thomo. Now that the formalities are done, I have some news from SF which should make life interesting in the near future. But first we need to get her to DS9 asap so let's get the Sunfire moving shall we?" Sandy said smiling.

"I'm intrigued now" Sandy replied, smiling back "but I'll wait till you think the time is right to share it with me Sir" he concluded, offering to let Ghost move past him and leave the office first.

Ghost left her with Thomson on her heels. "Helm set coordinates for DS9 warp 7." she said as she crossed the bridge and sat in her seat.

"Understood Captain. Heading set, engaging warp 7 now sir", Brianna said. "It will be good to see DS9 again and get a good stiff drink at Quarks", she finished saying as the Sunfire jumped to warp.
