"Computer, start recording, personal log:

Today finished on a high. Several members of the ships new security detail, young human hot-heads trying to prove their masculinity invited me to join in with them for several rounds of Anbo-jyutsu.
They had heard I liked to "dabble" in the sport.

Unknown to them, I had been a practitioner for over 20 years. Taking my battered training armour for protection. I played along with them, making rookie errors, I let them them think they had the upper hand. How young men like having their egos massaged.

I feigned tiredness and said I only had the energy for one more round. The ring leader, a tall blond haired man showing his alpha male status indulged me. I took a few hits as his colleagues cheered him on then thought enough was enough.

As he aimed a heavy wild swing, I side stepped right, and rotated my staff firmly into his mid section.

::goes through the motion to make sure it's described correctly::

You could hear a pin drop as the cheering and clapping disappeared into nothing. The sounds of shock and concern started echo through the room.

I finished the match with the ando-dur, The most common move in anbo-jyutsu, a sweeping blow brought between the attacker's legs for maximum interference with movement. I knocked him on his back and pressed my staff against his chest.
He instantly conceded the match.

In the following minutes he retreated to the side, his "friends" questioning his tactics and asking how could an "old man" beat him. I chuckled to myself as I put away my kit, bowing to my defeated opponent as I left the gym area.

Maybe next time they won't be so quick to judge?

End recording".
