Archer had returned to the science labs following the end of the “orb” incident. The internal sensors had gathered enough data to keep him occupied for months!

“Was it exciting to see it in the flesh?” Ensign Gwanwyn questioned her superior. “I mean, to actually communicate with a ball of electro-plasm, that’s award winning stuff! Will you submit a paper to Starfleet Science? They’ll probably name some science department somewhere after you!”

Andrew laughed at the enthusiasm of his young Orion astrometrics officer. “Easy Einir, before you burst a blood vessel!” he joked. “It was certainly incredible to be that close to the orb and communicate with it, but I’m not going to capitalise on it for fame and fortune.”

Gwanwyn’s lips curled to a grin, “I would!” She admitted honestly.

The two officers shared a laugh before Andrew’s comm-badge suddenly chirped, =/\= Devoe to Archer, I’d like to have a quick staff meeting this afternoon. Make the necessary arrangements. Devoe out =/\=

The Chief Science officer wondered what the Captain wanted to discuss. He would find out shortly no doubt. “Just when things were starting to settle...”
